I didn’t know who Bin Laden was prior to 9/11. I was not really following politics prior to 9/11 either.
I recall this video of Bill Clinton being interviewed on Fox a few years ago about why he didnt try harder to kill Bin Laden. So, obviously Bin Laden was a factor, i had just not heard of him. Clinton really let the interviewer have. I did not enjoy the interviewers smug look on his face.

Perhaps Bush could have kept the identity of the 9/11 mastermind secret so as to prevent elevating him to a “rock star” - but wait, then we would have half-educated Europeans menstruating on internet chat boards that Bush has something to hide, isn’t being honest with the people, was behind the attacks…fill-in-the-blank with the lunatic claim of choice.
