Floyd wouldn’t step on a scale on fight night. Who is he kidding? He is great and undefeated and people have always wanted to see him keep fighting the best out there to see how good he really is. He will never do that and his legacy, as some have pointed out, will suffer. Can he even hurt guys like Mosely, Margarity, Cotto, etc.? He couldn’t put away Marquez and took a long time to knock out Hatton, at a weight Hatton was clearly not meant for and uncomfortable with. I think we will be dissapointed after Mayweather makes enough money to live again and retires again. I mean, who is he going to fight after Pacquiao? He never gets hit, but is scared to go up against really tough guys. I don’t get it.[/quote]

Floyd is one of my favorite fighters to watch because he has that skill that makes you say, “How the fuck did he do that?” But he does have to fight a natural welterweight to remain P4P. It didn’t do much for his legacy when he defeats Marqeuz and says he’s a good LITTLE fighter.
Floyd has to take a potentially smaller payday and fight a natural 147 to be P4P, and that’s Mosley.

well, when he was pro he was as big as he was at the olympics… i have no idea what testing was like back then. some people are just naturally VERY strong.

Tyson was into the junior olympics when steroid use was rampant throughout the competition and testing was only starting. guarunteed he used.

Guys like him makes me want to learn pure boxing, and not punching through something like kickboxing/muay thai/karate/whatever.

Though I still prefer Mexican boxers for some reason. Not sure why though. Any ideas? I think it was because of some OLY gold medalist or something.

I would say this is pretty obvious.

Looks like this has turned into “The Boxing Thread IV”, so I might as well post here about boxing.

What do you think about the escaped Cuban amateurs - Rigondeaux, Lara, Gamboa.

These guys are great technically and physically. Like pretty much all Cuban athletes, they have trained like motherfuckers for years and years, without much reward. The money they will be getting as pros could have negative impact on their future career, but I think that won’t be the case. I especially like Gamboa, he’ll be fighting next week for WBA Featherweight title.

I am very unfamiliar with guys lower than lightweight. I’ve heard of Gamboa although I’ve never seen any fights.

Any links to fights/videos of him?

Yesterday Gamboa stopped Whyber Garcia in four rounds and Solis stopped Monte Barrett in two rounds. While Solis’ not that close to fighting the top dogs in his division, I think Gamboa’s next match will be against Top 10 opponent.
