HCG: Pseudo-Science?

Just went to the doctor this morning. Here’s the substance of some of our conversation. I have borderline high cholesterol, btw.

“I don’t want to take statins. I’m afraid of statin drugs. They eat your liver.”
Dr: “Actually, they destroy some people’s kidneys.”

Later.

“What about HCG therapy, doc?”
Dr.: “Its pseudo-science. And…you reject the scientifically-proven statins, but want to do something based on pseudo-science!”

He also has scripted me before and numerous others (he says) with Androgel and asked if I “want the pump or the patch” !!!

Can I scream yet? AAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGH!

You should fire your doctor and go see this guy:

Maybe he thought you wanted to use HCG for fat loss? There’s a lot of hyped baloney out there about some miracle fat loss via HCG and so forth…

I didn’t know about the fat loss benefits. KSMan is very pro-HCG for its mood benefits and its potential to keep ‘the boys’ functional while on TRT…which is why I asked the doc.

TRT, btw, makes about 70% of Caucasians sterile; about 95% of Asian men (Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism study).

I think part of the confusion comes from the variety of reasons people are exploring “replacement therapy”. Some people are looking for simple replacement while others are looking for supraphysiological levels.

For increasing endogenous production to normal levels, HCG is potentially a very good way to go about it, as it works similarly to LH. Of course, some people that are suffering from low levels of test simply are no longer able to produce adequate amounts via this pathway.

If someone was thinking about having children in the future it would make sense to stimulate endogenous production, if possible, before exploring test injections due to the sterility issues that you mention.

Anyway, as for doctors, many of them in practice today are working with information that is decades out of date when in fields outside of their area of expertise or specialization.

Of course their average patient is an idiot, so I guess not listening to patients, ever, is not hard to understand either.

He’s fairly young, so I thought he might be a little more up to date. But, he is pretty close-minded.

You may be onto something about regarding patients as idiots. I noticed that many of his patients are older than me (I’m 52), so he assumes they never do their homework.

Guess I have to hunt for a new doctor. Another one bites the dust…

Did you ever find one?

After being on HRT for almost two years, I started on HCG 4 months ago and the changes are dramatic. Positively dramatic. I don’t have any hormone related mood swings, I’m chasing the woman all the time, my “boys” don’t hurt, and I’m thinking more clearly too. I’m quite sure my Total T levels are higher than with the HRT alone, and I’m not really interested in knowing the test results. Okay, I am interested but then the insurance company and the doctor would both know the numbers, and probably lower my T dosage. I’m not interested in that, life is too good. My drive in the gym is through the roof, and I’m getting stronger even on a restricted calorie diet. I hope you guys can get HCG too, it will probably help change your life like it did mine.

I just started using HCG about 5 weeks ago. I went to the ART. The Doc there prescribed a high dose. its a 10,000 unit vile and I mix 2 cc of water and do 2- 1/2 cc injections a week. After 3 weeks I still produced O sperm level. So he told me not to inject testosterone for three weeks and get retested. Im in my 5th week and I feel better than I ever have. My energy level is up, chasing the wife again. and wake up with HARD morning wood. If I knew it would be safe I would never use Testosterone again and keep the HCG.
