HCG dose - Too high? 6k iu / weekly

Doctor just prescribed 2k IU 3 x weekly. They upped it after bloodwork. Should I be concerned and reduce?

Why are they prescribing it?

Sorry, that would make a lot of sense to specify. TRT. I’ve been on TRT for many years. This is a new Dr.

So it’s HCg solo or on top of a Testosterone protocol? HCG solo is not a long term protocol

On top of TRT.

Ok that’s too much for starters and prob half of guys don’t use it at all. I hated it. I’ll let others chime in but on TRT I prob wouldn’t on over 500iu 2-3x per week.

Are you trying to become fertile?
If not, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to run HCG.

If you are trying to regain fertility while also on TRT, I’d probably have you start at 1500/wk split like MWF at 500iu each pin, and see how your sperm count does in like 3 months.
If no notable improvement, bumping to 3000iu weekly probably makes sense.

But starting at 6000iu is quite high, so unless you have urgent need to regain fertility, I would not do this.
Keep an eye on estrogen symptoms regardless of dose; its known to increase your estrogen conversion rate.

They’ve had me on HCG for many years. There are other hormones produced as a side effect of natural test production. I always felt better on HCG, this is why I’m on it. I don’t care about fertility.

That’s why I was asking the “why”. I also figured maybe fertility or some other reason. For just an adjunct I would dose as stated above.

1500iu/wk seems way more in line with my research. I’ll try this. Thanks! Last thing I want is to burn out leydig cell receptors.

*sigh*

How much were you on beforehand?

What was it in your bloodwork that prompted them to increase dose so much?

Not sure, they didn’t say. I tried going off of Anastrazole once because I read some stuff…big mistake. I ended up with vision loss in left eye from elevated cortisol/central serous retinopathy. I’'m wondering if I ditch the HCG if I can ditch the Anastrazole? I never asked to be taken off because I was concerned if I ever had to go off of TRT due to medical reasons, my gonads wouldn’t turn back on. I have really high hematocrit and have to donate blood every 2 months.

My guy, I feel like every time someone asks you a question, we have to ask a follow-up question.

What dose of testosterone are you on right now?
What dose of HCG are you on right now?
How much Anastrozole are you taking right now?

Why do you want to ditch the anastrozole?

Thanks for your patience.

Test: 5ML gso / 200MG/ML , .15ML daily
HCG: 2k IU 3x weekly
Anastrazole: 1MG weekly

I want to ditch the anastrazole because I read it causes stiffness/achiness…I suffer from that quite a bit.

I looked at my records. I was on 2k IU 2x weekly of HCG. They also upped my test. I was .15ml eod…this is quite a big change.

This is a myth. My urologist of over 20 years cannot find any evidence and he had patients on HCG for years, with some using up to 10,000 IU per week for HCG mono therapy at times.

I’ve used HCG for years. The above information for maintaining and inducing fertility is correct.

What does your doctor say?

Sound advice, thanks. I do lift heavy. I’m 50 now and slowed down quite a bit due to wearing out a few joints, but I have a basement full of squat racks, bars, etc. I lift 3 x Week now with a few 5x5 heavy days thrown in w/compound lifts.

Agree with everything @Andrewgen_Receptors stated. You need an AI because you’re over medicated. That being said if you’re cool with it that’s fine too especially if you feel good. But getting off the AI is easily done by reducing both doses.
