This question has been answered in the affirmative numerous times in this post, but you keep coming back to it. Sure, a lot of younger guys will happily sleep with someone if they’re hot enough, without any consideration for any other characteristics. Everyone on here who has addressed the question at all has stated numerous other attributes that they look for in a significant other, and the ability to take care of themselves financially has usually been one of them.
Dude it’s Pittsburgh. There’s basically no middle ground for guys for those ladies to choose from.
They’re either in a tank top drinking a Turners tea tats all over the place smoking and talking yinzer, or they’re driving a bimmer with no regard for anyone’s safety fronting that they’re baller business men.
In that regard, I got married right out of college, and earning ability was not really on my list of concerns while I was IN college, but I DID observe a fun little quirk where every woman I was involved with during my time in college had been the valedictorian of their high school.
Especially interesting when I consider that I wasn’t a great student, but still, intellect and ability to hold a conversation were apparently pretty highly valued by me.
orrrrrr maybe she just didn’t like the dude, and just gave you a reason so you’d leave her alone?
In all seriousness, why does her value set have to fit your ideal? What if she just wants to date someone who’s actually her age? Is that a problem if she values that over some of the traits your boy has. How is that social manipulation? Maybe it’s just ‘your boy wasn’t a good fit for her, and she didn’t enjoy the date all that much, but she didn’t want to tell you that so she said something else because men have trouble taking no for an answer’. Did you consider that possibility?
If you want to know about social manipulation/conditioning, talk to women about how often they’ve met guys who won’t leave them the fuck alone when they want to be left the fuck alone. Pretty much every girl I’ve ever even MET has a story about a guy that couldn’t process the word no. You think girls feel entitled? Nah man. It’s the dudes who think they deserve sex just for fucking existing, having a job, and saying nice things. THAT is false entitlement, and it’s existed forever in our society.
yea. I have. not because I need more money in my life, but because a woman who doesn’t earn a decent income is more likely to be after my money than one who is self sufficient. Does that actually surprise you?
I was married to a woman who used me for my money. Never again.
GOOD women do. Women who are worth a shit do. As well they should. And smart guys are picky too. The higher your overall social standing, the pickier you’ll be, male or female.
maybe you don’t. I certainly do. I’ve already said that in this thread, so have a handful of other dudes. You’re ignoring the evidence in front of you, as you continue to belabor this tired notion that the people in this thread aren’t really representive of the real world. You’re entirely inflexible with your agenda, so you won’t hear evidence that contradicts your world view.
You’re a god amongst men. What do you do for a living that affords you enough time to get in good shape and have this much money where women want to use you? If you don’t mind me asking.
You do know what an ad hominem attack is, right? It’s where you ridicule, belittle, or attack the character of someone who you disagree with, in an attempt to discredit them, rather than addressing the content of their argument. Usually used by someone who has no valid refutation of said argument.
See, maybe back then I’d agree. But now even your average American female has an unwarranted list of requirements.
I’m all about being rational here, I like to believe I am a reasonable person so when I say I have noticed women these days demand so far more than what they are offering it comes from a place genuine place. There’s no “woman hating” here.
I will concede the possibility that this has to do with the states I have lived/frequented. I’m sure going into rural America there is a big difference. I am more than willing to accept that.
Examples?
You’re a grown man. I know you know how to use google. Check youtube, type in “universal basic income” or go to the New Yorker, I’m sure there has been a few articles on the ‘gig economy’
Mkay
" Last week two influential labor economists revised down their much-cited estimate of the size of the alternative workforce, meaning workers in temporary, on-call, contract, or freelance positions. Lawrence Katz of Harvard and Alan Krueger of Princeton had initially found that this workforce grew five percentage points in the decade up to 2015, accounting for nearly all job creation over that time period. Now they think it is more like one or two points. Their correction comes shortly after a major government survey—one that surprised a lot of labor and workforce experts—found that 3.8 percent of workers held “contingent” jobs as of 2017, roughly the same share as in 2005."
" In recent months, a slew of studies has debunked predictions that we’re witnessing the dawn of a new “gig economy.” The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) found that there was actually a decline in the categories of jobs associated with the gig economy between 2005 and 2017."
I’m all for being wrong on this one, gig economy sounds like a nightmare.
“The gig economy…is now estimated to be about 34% of the workforce and expected to be 43% by the year 2020,” Intuit (INTU) CEO Brad Smith said Wednesday on an earnings call. “We think self-employed [work] has a lot of opportunity for growth as we look ahead.”
Smith was referring to freelancers of all stripes – those on online platforms like Uber and Lyft and also more traditional freelancers like plumbers and electricians. He cited an ongoing research project between Intuit and Emergent Research.
It’s the latest sign of the sprawling size of the US freelance economy – a sector the US Labor Department has self-admittedly struggled to quantify. New government data on freelancers won’t be out until 2018.
Specifically driven by the newer online platforms, there are about 4 million quintessential gig workers, research from Intuit and Emergent show. They expect that to grow to 7.7 million workers by 2020.
I blame social media. You guys keep ignoring this but most of you are out of that age range… hell, I’m not even fully engaged in it but the little that I have seen , experienced, it’s bad.
