Relax, I’m just writing in a light hearted tone for a bit of humor.
I “liked” your post and agree with most of it. But this isn’t something new nor limited to the West. Notice one poster living in the US above said it was the same in the Philippines for men when he lived there? Same thing I was saying about other parts of Asia in the other thread.
That part was lighthearted as well, should’ve specified “lol”
I 100% agree that ppl need to be responsible.
What I don’t understand is why people make such a big deal out of sex. Either in pursuit of it or abstaining from it
Isn’t it just a normal biological process that most ppl happen to find enjoyable? Granted, there are consequences, but why make it something taboo?
The same goes for other bodily functions
It was probably me not picking it up. My English has good and bad days lol.
There are emotions attached to sex and once you have emotions, things get complicated.
Nah. There’s a reward system at play there too, with some complex neural pathways. It’s no coincidence that people find it enjoyable.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s “taboo”, rather it involves 2 individuals who may have different feelings and interpretations of the type of relationship they’re having. If not the present, then the future if it’s a “fuck buddy” thing.
Shit, I’ve had these kinds of relationships myself and they’ve been fucking complex even when we officially break up, stop fuckin and stay friends. They still get jealous over other girls you get involved with and all that shit lol. I’m sure the same thing happens to girls as well. This thread is about a “beta orbiter” ffs.
No one here watched Vanilla Sky? Shit can get real bad.
But I get some of @BrickHead 's points.
I’ll put it this way. There were some girls I knew who thought the only way to social acceptance was fucking around. This was, however, in the 90s. In the end, it ends up determining their self-worth. These were normally girls from very conservative religious backgrounds, though. They didn’t know how to fit in and hang with the “cool kids” or something like that.
I don’t know how to explain this or even if I’m totally accurate in my observations. Perhaps @EmilyQ or @EyeDentist can explain it.
One ex came to dinner with my new girlfriend who she had met once before.
Comes in with an unannounced friend who is wearing fuck all and then proceeds to act as a match maker between me and this friend Infront of my new gf.
I was waiting for a cameraman to come out from behind a plant it was that crass and unreal.
The plan was this friend would break up my current relationship. If it didn’t result in anything then I am single, if it does she could more easily undermine the friend than with my current girl. Either way she gets a shot.
Imagine how much perspective you have lost that you were willing to carry this insanity out. You couldn’t write it. She was the worst one but there are loads of others at the lower levels of crazy (and I don’t think this is a woman only thing, I don’t experience the men but have seen what friends have gone through)
My friend, the post you are replying to is two years old.
It’s interesting you mention this. I do intend to leave as soon as I procure the funds/means to do so. Furthermore, I intend to leave to Europe (as you’ve specified). It should be noted I also believe the Australian economy (particularly Victoria) has been devastated following covid-19/extensive lockdown. Our eventual outcome will factor in as to how heavy my desire is to leave.
Australian society is rather progressive regarding the sex industry/the nature of sexual relations. My reasons for wanting to leave aren’t as trivial as one might think. Housing prices are ridiculous, in the two major cities (Melbourne and Sydney) a standard house costs upwards of 1 million dollars. Everything is absurdly expensive. At this point employment opportunities are at an all time low, and the space to fill the few gaps that exist are fiercely competitive. Post lockdown/restrictions instated most small businesses have gone under and our country has racked up enormous amounts of debt (in Victoria they’ve been essentially locked down for nine months), I don’t want to be the one having to pay this off through excess tax when basic commodities already border on the unaffordable.
We have fantastic, universal healthcare though
Yeah humans are weird. Something a little different here but it shows how unpredictable human interactions/relationships can be:
I broke up with a girl. It was mutual and we were still good friends.
Then she gets a new boyfriend and introduces him to me. This dude was cool. We ended up getting along so well we’d sometimes hang out without her and she’d get jealous lolololol.
Then when they were breaking up on really bad terms I was the one desperately trying to get them back together because I didn’t want the situation to turn into me only being allowed to hang out with one or the other.
@BrickHead
I’m very interested in hearing what you think about the general tendency for women to earn less than men
That is gold!
I have my own thoughts but would like to read brick’s first
I use the phrase “because I’m just a girl” all the time at home. And it doesn’t even have to be anything dangerous. I’ll say it over distasteful tasks, too. If it’s too yucky, the pigtails go in!
Is there something wrong with that?
I’ll hit the serious question later. Having turned over a new leaf just this morning (again) I have to go work out.
Is there something wrong with that?
I already mansplained one topic by proxy to one girl. Can’t do it to another on the same day or the internet will auto-cancel me.
I have some thoughts on it.
I’ll start off by saying I don’t believe there’s a gap, and if there is one, I don’t mind. And this can likely be because I’ve never actually looked into the matter much and I have a biased view. So if people have opposing views or can convince me otherwise, I’ll be fine with it.
I’ve worked with nearly all women making anywhere from $35,000 to $150,000, many of whom have excellent health benefits, tuition reimbursement, maternity leave, plenty of opportunity to work overtime, and vacation time. So in this biased view I’m inclined to say the old line, “cry me a river.”
This, along with the statistic of women making up 60% of university students, women in highly paid positions such as sales, public relations, media, advertising, marketing, medicine, various healthcare jobs, financial services, and so on.
I’ve met and know numerous women who make fine livings, at or well into the six figures, including three cousins. One of them works as an executive at a place we all purchase from (yeah, there). Her husband is a director, and has worked on some shows and movies we all know of or watched, including that one show about free-wheeling urbanite women.
With modern technology average looking women can earn a living simply by existing. That is, a woman can set up a Patreon, Only Fans, and IG account, photograph and video herself, write inane word salads, and watch the money flow in, sometimes so much that some of these “workers” and “creators” own homes and run around the world in their early 20’s.
Women make up 80% of consumer purchasing decisions.
Many households now have a matriarchal flavor because of the feminization of men and a decades-long anti-male agenda in our legal system, education, and entertainment media.
Many men are raised exclusively by women. Because of the crisis of fatherlessness, sexual irresponsibility, and the government stepping in as the provider, many are raised by single mothers and then go onto nearly fifteen years of being educated by female teachers. When the puberty years set in, much attention is paid to the girls by the boys.
Because of what you mentioned before, a peculiar, modern fixation on sex, which is caused by “sexual liberation”, female sexuality is a constant fixture and there is an inordinate amount of time and effort by men in chasing and fawning over women. I vividly remember a Super Bowl half time show in which Jennifer Lopez took the stage and at one point in the theatrics, all her dancers were in a position of worship unto her, as if they were in a position of idol worship.
Men supply the muscle in defending all of us, in the military and law enforcement, and some have to accept death, trauma, and disability because of it. Without this defense, women and men can’t actualize themselves. In some dangerous parts of this world, men live lives of constant turmoil because of this need for defense.
Men take less time off from work. Men are overrepresented in certain kinds of highly paid work and might be less likely to drop out of such fields because of the impersonal and competitive nature of them, and because of peculiar cognitive characteristics such as a high spatial IQ, mathematical ability, and problem solving.
In saying all this I understand that the gap refers to a difference in pay for same type and time of work.
So in conclusion, For all these reasons, I don’t believe there currently is one, and if there is one I am not concerned because the gap is filled with veneration, protection, genuflection, authority, power, and influence.
It’s a long-winded post but I figured I’d answer you thoroughly. Keep in mind in saying all this have loving relationships with all women in my family, have some very nice female co-workers, had some great female teachers, and have a daughter. I’m also aware of some great women throughout history. I simply defy several current narratives and trends.
I completely agree with everything you just posted
There is research suggesting a “subconscious hiring bias” against women, but my opinion is that it is a heuristic with rational foundations.
Companies want to hire the most productive workers and female applicants , for social/biological whatever reasons, are more likely to be burdened with more responsibilities, which makes them less productive - at least in the short run (the overall impact is debatable). It is thus perceived as less “risky” to hire/promote males. The same argument goes for weight/disability/ age discrimination. I cannot speak to race.
This is why I’m so insistent about not having children. I cannot control the subconscious biases, but I can maximize my productivity and at least be somewhat competitive
Oh cool, thanks!
