Nooooo! I would never say that! Not to someone from the north east anyways. The sourdough and chowder combo is what makes it great. And it’s one of those regional food things.
I should admit at this point that I do the vast majority of cooking in my house.
Mine is Kate Winslet. Especially when I saw the Titanic, my god my heart was in my throat. She was stunning. Hell, it’s the main reason I was attracted to my ex wife, she had some resemblance lol .
More back peddling. I can get a very good steak for far less than that, even eating out. Could I spend $100 on a steak? Sure, but that would be because I’ve ordered it in a five star restaurant due to a desire for ambiance or some famed dish or to impress someone, not because they’re unavailable for less. We can get a couple of good ribeyes to grill for $25 (had this last night, in fact) and eating good steak out seems to run $25-$35 where I am, plus apps, drinks, etc. I would imagine it would run a little higher in NYC or San Francisco, but I never eat steak in those places because I’m short on good ethnic food near home, and am generally after that or seafood in the cities.
As for healthy, here again you’re talking out of your ass. Given that I’ve posted pics of myself while you’ve been afraid to, I would imagine we can all agree that I’m a decent judge of healthy food, while your judgment is questionable. Last night’s ribeye here was accompanied by roasted asparagus, cauliflower for me and roasted fiddleheads for him, and acorn squash. Saturday night we had salmon with mashed cauliflower, broccoli, and blue cheese wedge salads.
I will say that Sunday saw a dip into atrocious eating when we drove 3 hours each way for a niece’s birthday party. I wouldn’t imagine our hosts eat this way all the time, except they’re pretty obese and very pasty, so maybe. Anyway, had eggs for breakfast, then a shrimp caesar salad for lunch out, then arrived at the party and ate, variously, Ruffles potato chips and french onion dip (powdered soup mix in sour cream), cookies, cantaloupe that wasn’t ripe or maybe just wasn’t tasty, then burgers that were kind of nasty (I get mine from the small farm two doors down from me, suspect my hosts shopped at a discount grocery), potato and pasta salads that seemed all mayo, the “taco salad” that my sister-in-law makes and which I like, but bears little resemblance to what I would usually term “salad.” It’s ground beef, crushed Doritos, french dressing, and a small bit of lettuce, tomatoes, and green pepper. Then had grocery store birthday cake, then nibbled at a hot dog because I was bored, then another small piece of cake for the same reason, then thankfully back into the car for the trip home. I’m going to assume the “shit food in America” people were visiting homes like this, and that GB grew up in one.
Wait, which fat bearded fucks? I admittedly don’t go to biker bars often, but the couple of times I’ve been the women haven’t been breathtaking. Not to say there aren’t breathtaking biker chicks hanging onto the sexist men of the clubs, but…lol?
How dare you. Have you not been to Hanover St/North End? And Boston and the surrounding area for seafood in general … not just chowder (really Southcoast is better for Seafood - New Bedford being one of the busiest fishing ports in the country/world we have fantastic (and inexpensive) seafood - $11 fresh lobster rolls in the summer, baked haddock, mm mm - not to mention the great Portuguese cuisine…).
We got a butcher down the road that has USDA Prime cuts all day that are pretty reasonable … grass fed locally like you’ve been talking about … couple that with some local corn/veges (either from my own garden or one of the many small farms that dot the area) and bam … great eating for the family for under $50 total.
I know, I know…I was generalizing. North End for the Italian you mean tho, right? Not chowder. Mostly in Boston (which we hit often, my husband is from Marlboro and a son is in the city) (had Sunday’s shit party food in Willis, so don’t ever eat there!)…anyway, mostly in Boston I eat seafood or Italian (seafood my choice, North End husband’s). Plus ice cream and other such and last time I was there Qdoba twice because it was handy and also tasty.
what backpedaling? Are you fucking brain damaged? lol
Yes, you can eat healthy in the states, you can also find top restaurants in the world in the states but it’s not something you will be dining often.
Most Americans eat like garbage. It’s tough to eat healthy in this country because shit food is so cheap, and so abundant. Personal responsibility bleh bleh this country tries its best to make sure you eat garbage to obesity. Now since I said this everyone will try their best to pretend Americans don’t have an obesity problem and most people eat well lol.
Maybe we also have different tastes? Most steaks I eat around here for $25 is crap. Eating out, I mean, you can find ok steak for $50 at a decent place. But no one comes here to eat “inexpensive steak”. Do you realize how much cheaper you can get amazing food in other parts of the world?
Also, anything you make at home is going to be based on your own cooking skills which most americans don’t have. But of course you do @EmilyQ you’re a goddess that knows how to cook.
Yes, North End Italian - Back Bay for seafood (shit, there’s some great seafood places up and down the north/south shore and again Southcoast - not sure entirely where you’re located but we have great variety relatively cheap) let’s not forget Chinatown for Asian cuisine … mm mm and Fenway on game day for Sausage, Brats and beer…

You realize that people from other countries love eating in America for our relatively inexpensive, varied and excellent food, particularly steak
[/quote
I have to disagree with you there. The times I’ve traveled and met people, they never once bought up anything good about the American foods. Yes its cheap, but it’s also very low in quality. Now the sweets is something else. We eat so much sugar here its scary. Plus we try to find ways to make it even more insane (fried oreos).
We order a side of grass-fed beef about twice a year. It’s 1,000x better than even prime cuts you buy at the store. It’s hard for me to eat store-bought steak anymore.
The fat bearded fucks in biker’s clubs. I wrote that in English. I’d think a smart person such as yourself would have a better reading comprehension. I apolologise, I may have misjudge you.
Yeah no shit you don’t go to biker bars often, same way as I don’t leave our galaxy often.
No one said the women there are breathtaking, just that a lot of them look way better than those fat fucks".
Please, woman, try to read more carefully from now on.
