Have Any of Your Lifts Stalled?

I wouldn’t be concerned with lateral raise weight, more feeling the motion where it’s supposed to target. Maybe its time to switch to db raise? or cable raises? Are you doing anything for rear delts?
I occasionally do reverse flies for rear delts, but it’s not a regular part of my routine.

It sounds like most people haven’t seen a lot of growth from isolated delt work?
My shoulders are having dramatic improvements…My shoulder workout is all isolation exercises and if I press it’s the last movement I am doing…ton of lateral and cable variations…

Like Jwesus said, weight is of little concern, the contraction, feel, pump etc., is more important to me…Honestly besides my ego on the big compounds, weight doesnt matter much to me anymore…its all about the reps, control, form, contraction pump etc…I still lift heavy as hell though, dont get that wrong, you need both.
I’ve seen some shoulder growth, just frustrated that it’s not translating to lifting more weight on lateral raises. I hear what you’re saying about mind-muscle connection, etc. but at the end of the day if you’re truly growing, you should be able to demonstrate it by pushing more weight.

THIS. also I’d be making rear delt work a big focus point from now on if you have been making it an afterthought

My rear delts get worked pretty heavily through rows, which are one of my strongest lifts.

Are there any complex exercises people would recommend that hit lateral delts hard?

what i like to do for lateral delts is, work up 2 or 3 heavy sets of dumbbell laterals, then do a big drop set where i work all the way down to like the 10 lb dumbells, THEN after that i take the weight were the drop set started and do 20-30 lateral “swings” (you can look up this technique in the John meadows shoulders article). This is a very intense and painful way to hit lateral delts and mine are usually quite sore the next day.

Aah now I remember you. You’re the guy that was training Chest and Back 5 times a week.

OP does oddball routines and likes to post them up here once in a while just so he can be contrary when everyone tells him he’s doing it wrong. Don’t waste your time here people.

“It sounds like most people haven’t seen a lot of growth from isolated delt work?” -lol, give it a rest. You want to tell me PX doesn’t have great delts? Ask him how he got them.

Useless post, how about adding something constructive?

As I said, I’m seeing good growth across the board, except with my lateral delts.

Have you seen a lot of growth doing this, with steady increases in your weights?

I’m wondering if complex exercises might help since you move more weight overall. My shoulder presses and shrugs are going up, just not my lateral raises.

i havent been doing them long enough to tell to be honest, lat raises did go up a little bit so far though. I remember last summer they grew a lot from doing laterals 2x a week, once with strict form and once with heavy weight with sloppy form.

Maybe I just need to hammer the hell out of them then, with several different lateral delt isolation exercises.
