Judging by your workouts lately, I bet you’ve got a 200kg deadlift in the bag. Gonna try anytime soon?
Thanks! I’m a little reticent to max out just yet, as working on reps is helping me progress really quickly. But if I have a day where I feel particularly strong, I’ll go for it. It’s been a goal of mine to hit 200kg for quite a while now, so I want to make sure I’m good for it.

Stop pussying around and max on everything every day!

Okay
27/11/12
Weighed in at 103.5kg (228 pounds) pounds post-training today. Down from 110kg in mid-2012. I’m so sprightly.
DEADLIFT
Conv. deadlift
308x3
353x1
441x1 → PR, motherfucker! - really happy with this; it’s been my dream to pull 200kg for as long as I can remember.
Front squat
(220x2)x2
Died a little inside after pulls (spots on vision, sensation of exploding eardrums etc), so called it after two sets.
Chest supported rows
3x10
Straight arm rope pulldowns
3x8
Very good session, couldn’t be happier.
Enjoy the beautiful music in my gym. Ironic that this song should be playing on the day I completed Halo haha.
Well, I’m almost down to 220 pounds in bodyweight now, so CBL seems to be working really effectively.
Yesterday, I overhead pressed 176 for a nice single and hit a double with 308 on the squat too. Nothing spectacular, but I’m pleased with my strength considering I’ve dropped my bodyweight.

NIce work! I follow the thread in BOI but would never dare (if we even can) post in there to say that, lol.
Any thoughts on how to help stabilize your core during heavy front squats?
Also whats CBL stand for …you said it was working well.
~cheers.
Hey, just saw this.
I’m sure we allow gurls in the BOI
In front squats, I use the clean grip and focus on keeping a big chest while pushing my elbows up - this keeps my upper back tight. I also try to keep looking straight ahead. I take a deep breath into my belly and push out against the belt (if I’m wearing one). I focus on keeping an upright torso whilst sitting down between my legs and aggressively pushing my knees out. I just got some olympic shoes, which really help me stay stable and upright, but front squatting is fine without them. I hope that helps; I’m by no means a great front squatter, or an expert on technique.
CBL stands for carb backloading, a nutritional program by a guy called Kiefer. The ebook is expensive, but you can get the main principles from reading around on his site (dangerouslyhardcore.com) or by looking at Mike Hedlesky’s blog (not sure I can link to his blog on here anymore). I don’t follow the diet perfectly, but essentially I only eat carbs after I lift weights. On rest days and prior to training, I just eat protein and fat. Seems to be helping me be less of a fatty :).
I’ve started Sheiko 29 this week, which is pretty damned hard. It’s three days of high volume work for the big three, and fits nicely into my week with my two days of olympic lifting.
I’ve done the first two days of Sheiko 29 this week already, and will probably incorporate the third session into my olympic lifting session today.
