and i was making fun of it, slightly
truth be told i think it was a dickhead thing, you just dont do that to someone i dont care what youre squatting or what fed you lift in or what nick name from star trek you have.
This one time at the gym, I was curling with 125s in front of a mirror. It was my last set, and my already huge and vascular biceps were pumped like God damn baloons, but I kept at it, repping out like there was no tomorrow.
After about 50 reps, I stopped counting and sunk deep down in a sort of a trance, unaware of all the hot babes staring at my muscular, carved-out-of-stone physique, unaware of the YMCA song blaring from the speakers, unaware that my 35 inch guns were slowly taking up more and more gym space with each rep.
When I came to, I dug myself from under a pile of bodies, my hunting knife smeared with yellow flesh and red blood.
This is hardcore. This is animal. Can you handle it?

Don’t know if this is the thread to mention this or not but for some time I have wondered where the “sparkles” or stars come from that float around in my vision after the initial sets of heavy singles and doubles while deadlifting.
They cease after the first few sets but when they do happen they hang their in mid air for several seconds and are very distinct.

Neurons in your visual cortex are misfiring, typically due to a lack of blood/oxygen in the brain.
Or it’s possible your retina is detaching.
Used to happen to me all the time in gymnastics. Attempting a flip or something of the like, landing, getting that lovely jarred feeling like I’ve been punched in the jaw, stars being to fill my vision, and attempting not to fall on any nearby equipment.
Ah, those were the days.

So why just the first set or two?

Good grief! I need my retinas attached. They work better thataway.[/quote]
I would assume just the first set or two because of your body adapting to the strain/stimulus, and is able to properly employ a vasodilation reflex to maintain proper pressure and blood flow to the neurons. Then the membrane potentials are able to change in sync and thus eliminating the ‘stars’ effect.
