The suspense is building here.

I’ll understand if he’s sleeping in, for a couple days. Other than that…We’re Waiting?!?

I think we have waited long enough…

I’ve had a number of very difficult days so I apologize for the delay. Leading up to the meet last Saturday I was nursing a right lower back injury and I had a strain in my left calf and left shoulder. I had been resting and doing tons of mobility work and therapy but the issues persisted.
I opened with a 523 squat and aced it but I screwed up on the command and missed the squat. Then I jumped to 546 and nailed it for 3 greens. I went to 567 lbs but I went to slow and couldn’t get out of the hole.
Next I went to a 303 lbs bench but missed my 1st attempt. My back was killing me. The bench was wider and higher than mine and extending my legs to drive through my back was uncomfortable and limiting. So, I used platforms under my feet for 303 on the 2nd attempt and got 3 greens. I then tried 314 but failed.
Finally I deadlifted 523 for my opener and pulled it easily. My back and left shoulder were a bit shot at this point but I decided to try a bit more however 546 proved to be too much on this day. I waved my third dead attempt.
I had the heaviest squat of the 220 lbs weight class but I didn’t win the 220s. This wasn’t my best day. I attribute my poor performance to being worn from work and peaking too early. I had done more weight for competition valid lifts in my garage the weeks before.
Sunday I had to work an 8 hour shift at Costco and it wasn’t fun. The past 3 days I have been trying to recover but I haven’t quite achieved that and my body stress is still quite high. Work today will not help the recovery cause either.
My goal is to switch focus right now. I will be learning to code so my lifting program will change because I need more time to study. I may not compete until December. Hopefully I will have a vocation change by this next fall so I will get a better less physical job(s) and have more time to train.

1372 and worn out from work with an ailing back and shoulder… I know you are disappointed and that speaks volumes to you are but nearly as much as attacking a new vocation. You’re a good man…

1372 is only 128 pounds less than you first planned to total, and 28 pounds less than your revised plan. Probably press 128 with one arm when rested. You handled those obstacles well where lesser folks wouldn’t have tried. Be proud, it’s an accomplishment.

I walked about 2 miles around Costo while waiting for my tires’ installation last Saturday.

It’s a journey for sure. Rest up and reload. I think we have all been there (I know I have). Chasing perfection is part of the fun and misery all at the same time. Keep rocking it my friend.

Thanks Crippler. I’m taking off any lifting until next week then the journey will begin again.

I’d take those meet numbers any day of the week.

Have gone into too many meets beaten up. We used to run 2 sheiko programs back to back 10 weeks before a meet.

This isn’t your first rodeo. Heal up, get right, and continue to kick ass and take names.

Yes, yes to all the above; pretty dam strong no matter what.

And here’s to getting rid of a job (or two) too; Onward and Upward !!

Thanks to all for your kind words. I haven’t touched a weight in over a week but I’ve been working like crazy. I’ll get back to lifting and such soon. Onwards and Upwards.

You’ve more than earned some rest.

Thanks biker. I’ve been working so much lately that my body has been wrecked. Lost 4 lbs since the contest. Starting to feel the need for iron so that must be fed soon.

Eat all you can stand, and time away from the weights is good.

Managed to pick up a bad sinus congestion thing the past few days which is tons of fun. Working has been a blast. Will lift again when I can breathe.

Monday 3/27/17

My first lift in just over 3 weeks. Decided to go at things a bit differently for a while.

Dead hang cleans:
Bar x 5
95 lbs x 2 x 5
115 x 2 x 5

Clean and Jerks:
115 x 3 x 3

Squats:
135 x 10
225 x 5
315 x 3

CG Bench Press:
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 3

Standing Crunches:
70 lbs x 20

All sets done very quickly. Lift time about 28 minutes. Went light but felt strong and on the way to return to form.

Regardless of work, sickness, and post meet recovery, you’ll surely experience strength increase.

You–and us followers-- know you have it in you.

Thanks biker. I’m surprised to be sore as hell this morning.

Doing this new thing drinking no coffee and taking no supps before lifting. Lifting was short and fast today.

Snatches:
Bar x 5
95 lbs x 5 sets x 3 reps

Trap Bar Deadlifts:
140 x 5
230 x 3
320 x 3

230 lbs Farmer’s Carries x 2 sets x 100 yards

25 min of intense work.

Back at it and as strong as ever. You should be plenty healed up for a new push.
