Hardcore Essentials2

LOL, fucking neighbors man, I try to say hello and goodbye thats it. When I lived in Queens, everyone mined their fucking business but now in living in a more suburban area in Staten Island, everyones up each others ass…

Well, I was a bit harsh but this woman has overstepped her bounds several times and I really mind my own business. Hope it’s water under the bridge and she leaves me and my family(house) out of her life.

One the worst things I do is deal with people can’t get along with neighbors. Life is too short, so good for you. It’s a good thing it was not a heavy squat day.

By the way, I am curious about the three finger deadlifts. What do you get out of that?

Crippler the three finger deadlifts are a challenge. Your grip strength will improve and I think it makes me concentrate more on my dead form due to making the most out of the lift. Paying close attention to form for the finger deads is a must because lifting a lot with just a couple fingers or a few fingers is so much harder than the whole hand.
This week since Monday has been very nerve wracking: The neighbor, my daughter had a horrible stomach thing, and my wife and I have been dealing with the home insurance and mortgage oppressors. My wife was out of town and I was in charge of the girls for a couple of days along with dealing with everything else but today I finally got to lift. I think if I didn’t get to lift today I might have burst into a flame of frustration.

I was a bit burnt out, most likely from yesterday, so I called it a short night.

“Green acres is the place for me.
Farm livin’ is the life for me.
Land spreadin’ out so far and wide
Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.”

Keeps the neighbors far away.

GV, what sort of warm-ups do you use before starting your lifts? Do you go into bench cold and start at 135 to warm-up? Or do you do something before?

LittleStrick-the only warm ups I do are quick rumble roller for my back and maybe a few reps with a stretchy cord doing pull aparts and shoulder dislocates. Oh, I usually do a few quick sets of pull ups but I forgot this last time I did bench.
For squats I also use the rumble roller and sometimes use voodoo floss on my knees but that’s it before starting with my first set.

There is no way I could make those jumps without more reps. Of course, my work doesn’t keep me in the shape you are.

“Quick sets of pull-ups?” Now I gotta group you with Steve for rubbing my nose in it…lol.

LittleStrick-Unintended nose rubbing but I do find pull ups are great to warm up the shoulders and chest for benching.

Yesterday afternoon I got a fast bunch of lifting in.

Received good news yesterday and I will start again at Costco today. I still have the lawn business but my accounts have dwindled some and I won’t pick up any new ones so I can concentrate more towards Costco. Being in the incredible heat has already melted 5 pounds off me since the meet a couple weeks ago but hopefully I haven’t lost any strength.

Congrats on Costco. You said earlier you were waiting for that.

awesome news on Costco! and awesome lifting as always…

Congratulations on the job!
Without as much workload prior to workouts, you might need more weights!

Just getting caught up. Good work GV. Congratulations on the job.

Thanks everyone for the congratulations, it’s like I just got a big bonus. By the way LittleStrick I am still doing my lawn business so workload has kind of doubled or more but whatever. The challenge is to overcome and keep lifting and training for contests. Being in this time of transition and forming new schedules is tough.

You are a glutton for punishment.
I saw that you were keeping the lawn business. I just figured you would shift some of that load onto someone else…assuming there is a someone else to shift it to.

No Sir, I work alone in my business but I like stay busy and almost actively buried with things to do. Idle hands and all that jazz…

I don’t think there will be much “idle hands”. Much respect for carrying what you do and still staying after the iron with such dedication.

Good for you. Costco is a great company to work for.

Thanks Crippler and LittleStrick. I havent’ posted in a few days because I’ve put in some crazy hours at Costco since last Friday. Still don’t have my schedule worked out at Costco and life is very busy right now.

Being on my feet the past number of Days at Costco gave me intense leg work. My legs and back have been sore from work and the squats, good mornings, and deads were harder work for me than usual. I’m getting some kind of cross training. Yippee-kay-yea!
