Nice job GV. If you can bench 320 with fat gripz 335 shouldn’t be an issue at the meet.
Thanks NHLFTR and Dave. Yes, sleep is superpower and hopefully using the Fat Gripz will pay off. This evening the lifting went well and it knocked the stuffing out of me.

The 2 finger and 3 finger deadlifts are a good challenge and I like them for variation. I’ve read about Goerner doing them before but the recent article on here inspired me to do them tonight for a change-up. I tried to use only one finger per hand for my first set but my index fingers were either too short and fat or it just wasn’t happening tonight so I started my deads using two fingers per hand. That was fun but to my surprise this lifting session totally exhausted me. Good lifting night.
Loving the heavy GMs!
Very impressive lifting, GV. Even more so considering the physical labor you put in beforehand.
Thanks Matty and LittleStrick. I’ve been physically devastated from the lifting the other night so I took yesterday off and I’m taking today off also. My whole body is achey and muscles are sore that I didn’t even think I really worked. Those finger deadlifts provided a whole new level of work for my hands and forearms.
Those two- and three-finger DLs are interesting. Not sure I’ve ever heard of them?
Snap-I tell you the 1, 2, and 3 fingers per hand deadlifts not only work your hands and forearms but also hits the back and it seems like my shoulder and legs too.
Tonight I got back into the swing of things for a little good lifting.

Pushing myself to lift after a fairly hot work day. Temps have been in the low 90s the last few days and it’s humid as hell. I’ve been perspiring so much so it’s been a bit of a struggle but I’m trying to keep my weight at 220 lbs and train here for the contest. My body is still recovering from heavy lifting earlier in the week but I eked out some performance tonight.
GV- in my upcoming meet hey use a monolift…never seen one person…any advice?
It looks like you’re on your way. BTW temps in the 90s? was bitching about 70 yesterday.
THAT is a lot of bench sets/reps! I’m not sure I do that many in a month.
Great work.
And I thought our weather was crappy…30’'s in the mornings 80-90’s in the afternoon! I can’t imagine moving that much after mowing all day. I cry after weedeating for 5-6 hours…lol Guess I need to put my granny panties on! Wow!
Crippler, the battle is all the fun and the sun isn’t letting up. LittleStrick, yeah I like to wear myself out as much as possible.
Chickenlittle-Thanks for stopping by. The cross training of work and lifting has its challenges. That kind of temp swing is kind of drastic. Here in Orlando the temps are a bit more even being mostly just hot and humid.
Last night the lifting went pretty crappy. I had to get up fairly early Sunday morning, which is out of the ordinary, then do big family gathering stuff most of the day and by the time I lifted my head was kind of scrambled so concentrating on lifting was not optimal.

I wanted to do much heavier deads but the body screamed, “NO!” so maybe I can recover this week for one more heavy dead day before the meet but I may decide to just rest up and save it for the platform.
So after busting my ass today I came home to some pain developing in my left hip but lifting was still happening. Other challenges were helping my daughter do math word problems while lifting and managing cooking dinner while assisting my daughter also doing lat pull downs and assisted pull-ups between my sets. Fun…

I think with no distractions and proper rest I will nail the competition 325 bench and more. Wanted to do bent-over rows but time was a factor and my hip felt like crap so I decided not tonight. Will come back to do more soon.
Way to multi-task GV.
That’s CLEARLY beyond multi tasking.
Thanks Crippler and biker. Sometimes it’s hard to stay centered in the blizzard of children’s needs, taking care of necessities, and powerlifting. I’m sure we all have our challenges and have been through similar tasks.
Looks like you are set for a real good meet. Get the hip back to 100%.
You said it, GV. Lots of folks in meets. Wishing you PRs all the way around.
I would send you some mojo, but I think I left it in OK when I moved. Not that you will need it…
