Hard Work

Congrats Cav!

Thanks very much Up.

Well, I contacted the moving company and got utilities going at the new place. And so on and so on. So much to do. Maybe if I throw out some junk, will lower costs.

Played around in the apartment fitness center. Some elliptical, pulldowns, tri extensions. Did pec dec stuff, got up to half the weight stack and still could have done more. Was dying to see how far I could go, but after Family Guy and Simpsons figured had spent enough time. (I time stuff there by how much TV I watch. Also, the jokes can really wreck your concentration.)

Ran some chores, decided to drop by the gym for a little workout, not sure what I was going to do. Turned into a 2 hr session, just didn’t want to stop.

DB front raise - never did these before, but need to build up shoulders
8 x 12
10 x 10
12 x 10
15 x 6 . x 8 . x 8

felt good, I like them

leg Curl
50 x 10
70 x 10
80 x 8
90 x 6

finally the rack was free

Squats
95 x 12
135 x 5
185 x 6
195 x 5

feeling OK, decided to add tiny plates for an even 200. Then the weirdest thing happened. Maybe it was setting the bar a hair lower on my back. Maybe the planets aligned. . . .

200 x 5 . EASY!!! ******* PR ********

felt so STRANGE, like a hydraulic pump was doing all the work, or something. I could have done more, but wanted to stop while I was still ahead. Christmas present!

Bench (light)
45 x 15
95 x 10
115 x 10
120 x 10 . x 10

Ab pulldown on cable
90 x 20
130 x 15
190 x 12 . x 12 . x 12 . that’s the whole stack, people

OH press
45 x 12
65 x 10
85 x 7
95 x 3

god, I want shoulder strength so badly.

Nice christmas present ,well lifted.

Gorgeous day today . . . sunny . . . no snow at all . . . green grass. So for the benefit of those who wanted a White Christmas, here you go . . .

So is it Mr. Bill from late night TV that is missed?

funny video, any given snowman in a city might get trashed after a couple of days.

Not a scrap of snow where I am today.

Merry Christmas!

No, Bill Watterson. He did the comic strip “Calvin and Hobbes”. Calvin is a 7 yr old boy who’s so frustrated by homework and parents that he live in a fantasy world. He also does strange things, like build snowmen with parts missing. This particular video copies one strip where he builds a Snowman Hall of Horrors.

And when his dad gets on his nerves, he builds a giant snow mound right behind the car. Food for thought for those of us with kids . . .

OK, quick quiz. What is the one day a year you would expect nobody else in the apartment fitness center? BZZZZZT! I went over there and found 4 other people pounding at the treadmills/elliptical/machine. After waiting, did 15 min cardio, then some general lifting:

Front lat raises 8 lb db

Tri pulldown - not so strong on this, probably weak point

Pulldown - got up to half weight stack, yeah

Pec dec - got up to 3/4 weight stack, wow.

Cavalier,

Glad to see things are paying off outside the gym with the job and new apartment and inside the gym too. Maybe everyone else at the gym was avoiding relatives…

Gborlase, I’m guessing they were trying to work off big dinners.

Fun fact: lifting boxes all day long does not wreck your deadlift. Strangely, actually had a fairly easy workout, was stronger than expected:

Deadlift
135 x 10
185 x 4
225 x 5
235 x 5
245 x 5

Bench
45 x 12
95 x 10
135 x 5 . x 5 . x 5 . trying to pause these on chest, succeeded about half the time
125 x 8 . x 8

Front DB raise
15 x 10
20 x 5 . x 5

Tri extension on cable machine
50 x 15
70 x 10
90 x 6 . x 6

Throwing out stuff to lighten load for moving - you wouldn’t BELIEVE the huge bag of clothes and stacks of papers that went out.

Lifting on Christmas day?

Now that’s dedicated.

Hi Brett, thanks for dropping by. Yep, dedicated is my middle name. Gonna put muscle on this frail bod or bust.

OK, got the new apartment, signed the lease. It’s nice, quite roomy, a lot cheaper than the current one. Movers will be here next week.

Another orientation session for new teachers - they’re quite thorough. Several people telling me this is a great school to work for. Got my fingers crossed.

First class the day after moving - gonna be BUSY.

Congrats on the new job. Hope they have a good gym with lots of coeds for inspiration.
Woops - Hope its a college. If not, maybe you can teach a lifting class for the young’ins.

New job,
new place

training on chrismas

2012 is going to be good cav

nice work

Oldman, thanks. It’s a college and they have a gym, haven’t checked it out, almost everything’s been closed over break.

And don’t even JOKE about the coeds - you wouldn’t believe the pages of sexual harrassment policies I had to read.

Would love to teach a lifting class, but enough trouble convincing them I can teach computer stuff.

BTW, Columbus State has some kind of Human Performance program or something - wonder what that’s about.

KM, thanks, I sure hope it pays off.

Happy New Year, everyone.

Hello in here. Well Cavs new job must be going well. Either that or on New Years day he partied way to hard and is still recovering.

Yeah, where you at Cav?

He’s enjoying the new job and location. This has resulted into a much happier Cav.

He’ll be back to tell us all about it soon. It will be good news.

hello ?
