Totally agree on getting out for a walk in the sun, always sorts me out, also as an outdoorsman : sleping out undeer the stars and sitting around a camp fire, simple things that work like magic.
And top effort on the new Pr’s cav.

Congrats on the PR.
I’m sending some good thoughts your way on the job interview!
I’m really driven by the weather which is why I live here. Getting outside kills two birds with one stone. Human contact and sunlight!
james
Congrats on the PR’s.
And good luck on the job interview.
Squat DL and Bench in the same session, nice! and two PRs to boot
Loud applause For the interview.!!!..super loud applause for the PR’s… that DL must be a 20lb PR, right? Man I could use a 20 PR in anything…nice nice work
Thanks Punnyguy. Absolutely, I need more companionship, a big problem of being unemployed is the solitary confinement. The shrink said he’ll come up with some ideas on beefing up my social skills.
Thanks, Nurse, I try to get out & tan when I can. The park would have been more fun if not for the signs warning of copperheads and black adders in the area.
Thanks James, I’m feeling the GOOD THOUGHTS vibes.
2busy, thanks.
Thanks, Matty, I treated it somewhat like an informal meet.
Thanks Goat. Technically, the DL was only 5 lb over my previous max of a month & half ago, but still not sure I did the 300 in good form. I’m sure my previous 295 was good form and so was this, so I’ll go with 10 lb.
looks like you had an awesome session. Great to see.
My gosh. You’ve made incredible gains. I remember when you could barely squat 95 lb. to depth. And your DL. You’re practically at three plates per side. You must be happy with this.
Thanks DJS. A bit of luck my friend stepped right at the last DL rep and helped out.
Thanks very much Snapper. I’m happy my lower body keeps getting stronger. Surprising my squats are doing so well, going so low was like an entirely new exercise. But for some strange reason my upper body just doesn’t want to cooperate. Sure wish I could get shoulders and arms to grow as easy as legs & hips do.
Hey Cav, shit is happening in here! Good stuff.
For shoulder size make sure you are getting in solid lateral and especially rear delt work. DBs with some reps (8-20ish) and a weight that you can control. Arms are pretty much the same. Work them like a bodybuilder.
edit: Meant to add that you can go very heavy on these movements as well either during the same workout or alternate heavy, low rep sessions and higher rep sessions.
Looking Good Cav, Keep tearing stuff up!
Congrats on the PRs, Cav! Great work. What Snap said…incredible gains. Keep after it and good luck on the job search.
Hells yeah a PR on the Dreaded Deadlift of Doom ! Just funnin!
I found what works for me when I get in a foul mood is to go on a bike ride or lift something real heavy over and over again.
Weightlifting/exercising intensely is to me what anti-depressants/alcohol is to my generation.
Thanks, Git. For lat shoulders, I like doing the “Matty Rows”, the way Matty described his bar pullups. For rear delts, I’ve always had a phobia of those DB rows. Dunno . . . guess I can’t stand those tiny pink things I have to lift. But gotta bite the bullet and do something. And yes . . . those hated overhead presses.
Hey, Colin, thanks for dropping by!
Strick, thanks a lot. I guess I’m crossing that line where I finally feel like a lifter, not someone trying to be a lifter.
Fischer, if you think “Dreaded Deadlift of Doom” is an exaggeration, you haven’t done them! Thinking I should visit the park more often, it’s just down the road.
Went to the gym and pounded on arms. What are the worst, most punishing things to do for arms? Dips and chins. No fancy machine, just raw dips (done negative) and chins (singles). God, what a pump. Some machine pulldowns, then DB shrugs, then cable rows. Stuff I haven’t done in a while. Take that, scrawny arms.
Nice to see you in good spirits, awesome lifts CAV. Thats progress.
Just catching up Cav. Nice group of PR’s. Good luck on the job front, head up chest out and think confident!
Thanks, Dude. Trying to keep spirits up, but never underestimate depression.
Dday, thanks for dropping by. Doing what I can, but unemployment can be a killer.
Well, does look like I put on a couple of pounds bodyweight, hope it went to the right places. Would like to do another Sheiko cycle, but just don’t know what my schedule will be - could get a phone call any minute and it’s the job - or not.
Did more arm work, this time low weight, hi rep, till it burns. Arm curls, rope pulldowns for almost an hour. Then a lot of Matty rows, got up to 65#. Then rear delts on the pec dec. Take each set as far as I can. Keep thinking “GET THE DAMN BENCH UP!!!” and I do another rep.
It’s official, I’ve gained a couple of pounds bodyweight. I credit the Sheiko.
OK, did lots of bi’s & tri’s 2 days ago, lots and lots of DOMS. So it’s too soon to hit them again, right? Went in and tried the same exercises. $*#&@ - they were easier than before, WAY easier. Hah - maybe this “overtraining” stuff works after all. Did a few curls, then overheads with an empty 35# bar. 20 to 30 reps, over and over until shoulders burning like this heat wave.
Been ages since I did wrist curls, so I did super high reps of those babies until forearms were swollen to bursting, then reverse curls, hi reps. Forearms were hurting, but they deserve it - they’ve always been so thin.
Good work cav, looks like Sheiko was good for you.
Personally for me arms don’t take that long to recover and can be trained more often being that you are isolating smaller muscles. A person could certainly curl 3 times a week and make progress for a while but you don’t see people doing that with deadlifts.
