Hard Work

Hey Matty Its probably just me but I don’t think my body needs that everyday. we get a lot from the food we eat, I think its OD area. Just me, everything in moderation.

Matty, you’re the last person I’d describe as anxious and depressed. You’ve got enough endorphins for 3 guys. I can’t imagine losing a mulitvitamin for a couple of days would throw a guy into intensive care unless his diet was really, really crap in the first place. I’d guess psychosomatic.

Dude, delighted you could get your cholesterol down with just diet. No matter how i tweak, the doc keeps prescribing statins. I’d have to be careful with stuff like oats, being so sensitive to gluten. But walnuts and blueberries . . . . mmmm, now you got me all hungry. If that keeps the big C down, I’m on it.

Oh, and Dude, anyone who squats 135 for 10 min straight is NOT a poster boy for moderation.

Job interview today, on the phone. Don’t know if the guy was impressed, I was caught off guard by a couple of the questions. When will I learn, if the recruiter tells you they won’t ask hard tech questions, go ahead and refresh on them anyway.

Time for heavy squats. Still going through ‘rehab’, getting down to the box, below parallel. Was going to video but gym was crowded. Depressed at first, had to fight it:

45 x 8
75 x 6
95 x 5
115 x 3 . something kicked in, perked up
115 x 3
125 x 3 . yeah, baby!
125 x 2
115 x 3
115 x 3

Could have done more reps, but was aiming to get weight up, succeeded

Leg X
7 x 10
10 x 10
13 x 8
15 x 6 . going heavy . . .
16 x 5

Then the leg press. Set to get butt close to feet, got to train to get out of squat hole:
115 x 10
160 x 10
205 x 8
250 x 6
295 x 4 . very tough, but did it!!

Did some GHR, they felt easy

Nice work cav, I get the same way with video taping myself. Good luck with the interview result!

Good luck there on the job front cav…

Thanks, guys. God, I am just so tired of always looking for a job. Who’s idea was it that I can’t be permitted a permanent position?

Groin a bit sore from yesterday’s squat extravaganza. Good, let’s see if there’s any growth from it.

Well, seems to be a rash of birthdays. I’m turning 55 this weekend. That makes it 40 years since I first decided to do something about this weak body and started calisthenics in my bedroom. 37 years since I worked the Universal machine in college. 28 years since I joined a real gym. 10 yrs, or 15, whatever, since I started serious barbell training. Hard, sweating, grunting, straining work every step of the way.

And I still can’t get this body to lift 300 or bench over 160. WTF??? Come on, I deserve better.

I’m in a bad mood, but benching will do that.

Bench press
45 x 10
95 x 6
115 x 4
135 x 2 . felt tough, didn’t want to risk 160
155 x1 . yeah, tough, but got it up
135 x 3
135 x 3
135 x 3
135 x 3
135 x 3
135 x 3
115 x 10
115 x 8

I was pissed, and kept going until my upper body was crying Uncle.

Dips
lost count, very very hard, only a few reps per set, only got down about halfway, just kept pounding and pounding at them

Incline DB press
probably not a great idea, tris were completely fried, but wanted to work pecs
25 x 12
35 x 10
40 x 8

was grunting pretty loudly on these.

Finished up with some reverse rows on the dip handles.

Happy Birthday !

Its easy to focus on the negatives etc… dont get caught up in that.

Way to grind it out!!

I heard eating cake AND ice cream makes all the bad thoughts go away hehe

Have a great Birthday

I vote for cake, ice cream and dark beer. And then bourbon.

Thanks, everyone. Planning on pigging out at Golden Correl. Cake, however, is a problem due to my gluten sensitivity. And I really don’t like beer. Seriously, always hated the taste. Maybe some wine. Will see what the GC desert bar can come up with.

Oh, and KM . . . I assume you’re aware of the double entende?

Happy birthday!

I feel the same way about benching. It always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I know, Snapper, something in my body just hates pushing things.

OK, went to Golden Corral for birthday breakfast. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, kisch, shrimp, mushrooms, onions, the works. Then got a dish of chocolate ice cream with hot fudge and nuts, washed down with hot tea.

SUGAR RUSH!!!

Felt so good, I went straight out and got a variable rate mortgage. The nice man said it didn’t matter I was out of work, I could easily afford a really good house. Wow, what a nice guy! Gosh, I hope I don’t regret it.

Seriously, I got a new pair of slippers, old ones worn to threads. Then went home, had a little, ah, recreation, which left me feeling so good I went to the health center and did the elliptical for half an hour. Been watching some fun videos on Youtube and munching dinner. Wow, the day’s not even over yet.

Can’t wait to do deads tomorrow.

Eggs, bacon, “recreation”…that’s my kind of day!

I’m glad you had a good one.

Later seen leaping over tall buildings…but only after deadlifting loaded trucks…lot to be said for ‘recreation’ and ice cream.

Thanks, Git, I did enjoy it.

Nurse, thanks, but perhaps “tall kitchen stools” would be more accurate.

Today did deadlift. Intended to go heavy:

135 x 8 . hmm, kindof easy
185 x 5
225 x 5 . not half bad
255 x 3 . dare I go for the gold?
295 x 1 . * * * PR * * ° PR * * * PR * * *
255 x 4

Damn, what a hardcore gym. I’m shouting “YES! YES! YES!” and no one pays attention. What does it take to get a little applause?

Chins (more or less)
x6 . x6 . x5

DB Row
35 x 15
45 x 8
55 x 7
65 x 4
65 x 4

Bicep machine
40 x 20
55 x 12
70 x 8
85 x 5
85 x 5

Man, I was in the zone and then some. I need a birthday more often.

Damn good work on the deadlift–and i did exactly that the first time i lifted the magic 100 kg number–and got exactly the same non-reaction from the guys doing their endless bicep curls !!!.

NICE CAV! Happy Bday Brother! Plus a huge PR, awesome buddy.

Damn, is everyone having a birthday around here??? Happy birthday!

james

Yummmm you did have the ice-cream, although Im sure the “recreation” had much to do with the PR

AWESOME!!
