Well, Da Man, most people DO draw those conclusions. Considering I don’t find the idea of being a lesbian insulting it really doesn’t matter. On that note, I have probably made about a thousand posts in the past year, I’ve edited and/or contributed to 5 articles, and nothing I have every written would support the idea that I was a lesbian.
WOW! I can’t believe some of these respones! Sure, there’s a few asshole cops out there. There’s assholes in every profession. I’m sure they get sick of the same laws getting broken day after day. Just follow the laws, be nice, not too nice & go about your business. You should never wish anybody pain though, that’s sick. And YOU should be thrown in jail with some but fuckers for a few hrs.

What the hell crawled up your ass and died? I based my comments on your long winded post about all the times you got stopped by cops and managed to find one that was a jerk. You and a few others talked about how every cop they have ever met was an ass. Call me names all you want if you’d like, as long as it makes you feel better. I’ve been a smart ass my entire life, however that is neither here nor there. In the context of this thread and your posts HERE you haven’t really shown your maturity levels to be all that high. Michelle never once accused you of being a menace to society. She accused you of acting like an ass. Big difference. And she’s right; every person that I know that has a problem with being continually “harassed” by cops, or any one else in positions of authority, blame bad luck. They also typically are unaware that they come off as asses when confronted, or they are genuine criminals (not that I think you fall into the second category). Don’t make yourself out to be the victim here. One bad encounter I understand, but as many as you claim? Come on. There is a reason, and it ain’t luck. I do agree with you on one point, however. Your next encounter with a cop probably won’t be a pleasant one. Maybe Bionic will do a girl/girl table dance for ‘ya. to make you feel better.

Police are exactly like people in every other profession, some are assholes and some are not. They deal with the worst element in society on a daily basis and it’s rather difficult for them to differentiate between those people who respond well to kindness and courtesy and those who don’t. It’s also a rather thankless job, they don’t make much money, they have to deal with people lying to them all the time e.g. “no that’s not my coke,” “I don’t know where that money came from,” “I’ve never hit that kid,” --and they run the risk of being shot from time to time. If you’re really not doing anything wrong, the worst they can be is inconvenient. If you do encounter one who is being a shit-head, just be smart and keep your mouth shut.

Of course some perfectly nice people, through no fault of their own, have had run-ins with bad cops. Cops are human beings. I can’t speak for Michelle, but I thought she was addressing REPEATED negative experiences (as per your threads). A single bad encounter is one thing, but when it happens again and again, self examination is in order.
Dude…breath, it’s just a forum everyody talks like they are bad asses here. It’s easy to shoot one’s mouth off when it is not at risk of getting slapped, like I did. Besides, I totally understand your point. I am the one who said that I never met a good one, which is true, I have seen one on TV, but never met one. Let them people think it’s you attitude and your problem, fuck 'em who cares. You and I both know there are a good deal of power hungry pricks out there who treat ordinary citizens like prey. Just know your case is not unique and the right person may come along and fix it. The only thing I am willing to do is vote. I voted myself for sherrif last time, I actually got two votes! Maybe I could get three next time…I figured I should vote for somebody I trust, me! I would get rid of speed traps, eliminate speed radars as unnecessary overhead. Run car jacking stings in sensitive areas. I would also have a public complaint box that would get attention everyday!. Who knows, with that platform, I may even get 4 votes!!

If you would like to address the issue of DA MAN’s supposed attitude, maybe you should consider your own attitude before you preach to the choir. Ignorance, is meaning that you are also making assumptions based on no prior experience. If this is too complicated for you, let me put it to you plainly: treat others how you want to be treated. It is YOUR attitude that really needs some adjustment. You are the one so quick to judge others and criticize them… how about yourself? Have you received righteous status yet? I think not.
Secondly, you also talk about treating people according to their actions and attitude. I was polite and kind to the cop, even admitting I was wrong… so don’t you think I deserve that kind of respect? Even my third grade students understand the golden rule: do unto others as they do unto you… and treat others how you want to be treated. Then again, you’re never too old to learn something new. So, to put closure on this lesson and recap: one, think before you speak, two, don’t be so quick to judge others unless you’re flawless in the mirror of life, and three, the teacher has spoken, there will be a quiz. School’s out.
I’m no lawyer or criminologist, but my BC drivers licence says right on it that it’s the property of the issueing agency & must be surrendered when asked for. I think if a cop, or a doorman at a club, or some stranger asked for it I better turn it over (maybe not for the stranger). I think here most people think that some cops, but not all, are assholes & the assholes ruin the reps of the good guys. I’ve come across lots of jerk cops before, mostly for speeding & it was because they were hiding behind some bushes w/their radar guns, but could I go in & say ‘hey I was speeding but they were too sneaky’?? Wow DAMAN’s gpa is 3.4 in mech. eng. what a man that must mean he’s a brilliant genius hardened veteran criminologist who’s been at it for decades. Oh wait, that only means his gpa is 3.4.

I have known one too many 4.0 idiots who can do nothing but memorize or solve math problems(rarely both) and I have also known a couple of guys with IQ’s of 160 who started university at 16 and are still trying to get a Bachelor’s! But if you want to play that game Michelle, aren’t you a web developper or something? Is that supposed to be kickass or something???What was your GPA and what did you major in? My cousin’s boyfriend has his own company, www.agios.com and he did not even finish university and majored in biochem! Trust me a 3.4 in engineering means a lot more than a 3.65 in the majority of the Arts or a 3.8 in education(sorry Bionic, but I have known some DUMB teachers -one of my friends needed tutoring on frigging percentages!!!She could not understand the concept!!!). So yeah probably he can flex that 3.4 GPA, in your face.
BTW,I graduated from chem with a 3.8 in one of the top Canadian schools. Yeah, but then again this is the internet, right?
Ok, I;ve had enough. First of all, I never said I was perfict I SIMPLY said that if someone has REPEATED run-ins with cops and ALL of them are jerks then PERHAPS the person who is getting pulled over (or whatever) is the problem. I find it hard to believe that EVERY cop that someone runs into is an ass. Now, let’s get something else straight - I did not direct the post that caused Da Man’s little outburst in the first place TO Da Man, or it would have been addressed that way. He got bent out of shape because I said that perhaps the problem was HIM and not the cops. That is all I have said. I have said it over and over. And Bionic, I have NEVER said I was perfict, and the only ‘judgements’ I have made are based on what people have written here. Guess what? I STILL think that someone with that many problems with cops has a problem themselves. As for your run-in, if they asked you if you had parked there before I would guess they have probably seen your car there before… and even if they didn’t perhaps they have something particular against people who park in fire lanes, much like my extreme adversion to people who use handicap spots because they are close to the doors. I am tired of this, I simply expressed my opinions, without nameing names (incidently my first few posts were more for pat than anyone else, I wonder why HE didn’t flip out on me???) And all of a sudden I was calling someone a punk and making personal attacks and judgements. Then suddenly I was a self proclaimed saint beating up on poor defeseless Da Man.
