Jesse Macbeth

What we have here is a classical case of “the big lie,” Someone appears in front of a camera and tells tales of terrible crimes against humanity, and then disappears from public view – only his words remain.

This was particularly disturbing during the Viet-Nam era, when the public was fed horrific tales that were without merit. We would like this episode to have another ending.

If Macbeth carried out the crimes he confesses to, he ought to be tried and sentenced in a court of law. We would like to point out that there is absolutely no indication that this individual ever served a day on active duty.

We surveyed the units he was to have served in, and nobody ever heard of him. The criminal courts, however, have a variety of records on him (and we included them here). The point here is that this individual is a thief and a liar. He was never an Army Ranger!

The War the Media is Not Reporting ? An Iraqi Veteran Speaks Out

Apr 26, 2006
By Justice

Jesse Macbeth, formerly a Special Forces Ranger in Iraq, is now active with Iraq Veterans Against the War in Tacoma, Washington. The Rangers are elite units sent door-to-door in Iraq to combat the insurgency. They were also sent into Fallujah to crush all opposition to the occupation of that city. Justice recently interviewed Jesse.

How did you end up in the military?
I grew up on the streets. I got into trouble for fighting. The same judge that I’d been dealing with my whole life told me that I wouldn’t have to do adult time if I signed up for the military immediately. Sometimes I kinda wish I went to jail instead.

How did you become a Special Forces Ranger?
Basic training was easy for me. Growing up on the streets, I was used to running from cops. I was used to not eating for days. I got picked to go to Ranger School.

What did your division do?
I was in the Third Ranger Battalion. Our job was to strike fear in the hearts of the Iraqi people.

We would go into people’s houses and plow down entire families. We would interrogate people. If we didn’t like the answers that they gave, then we would kill the youngest child. If they gave more answers that we didn’t like, then we’d move on to the rest of the family. They could’ve been innocent people.

We would leave the bodies in the streets and blame it on the Shi’ites or the Sunnis. [In Fallujah] we were ordered to go into mosques and slaughter people while they were praying. I won’t go into full detail because I’m still haunted by the memories.

What was the assault on Fallujah like?
Fallujah is where we slaughtered people in mosques. We provoked the people there. Some people escaped from the mosques and saw us. We would dig holes and leave mass graves of children, women, and old men. We were ordered to let people die on the street. We were told that the Geneva Convention means nothing to us in combat.

We were ordered to fire on peaceful protesters in Fallujah. Somebody threw a rock at us, and an officer said that he thought it was a grenade. Then we were ordered to fire. When it’s daylight in Iraq, it’s daylight! Nobody really thought it was a grenade.

What medals did you get in Iraq?
I got a lot. I got a purple heart. Half of them, I don’t remember. I got five or six medals just for landing. I got a bronze star.

What injuries did you get?
I got stabbed many times. I got shrapnel in my knee. I got shot in the back.

What do you think is the role of the U.S. in Iraq?
The military is terrorists there. Soldiers thought we were going to fight terrorism, but we became the terrorists. We were told we were going to liberate the country and find weapons of mass destruction. The real aim is to have the U.S. own the country. The U.S. wants oil.

How has the government treated you since you got back?
Like shit. I hate them. I’m not gonna be a terrorist or anything, but I hate them. They killed my battle brothers. They used me. They messed me up. They didn’t care about me. They turned me into a beast, a machine.

What Veteran’s benefits have you gotten?
I ain’t getting nothing. A card and that’s it.

Where do you work?
I’m an Iraq vet, and I work at Wendy’s.

How did you get involved in IVAW?
Veteran’s Affairs told me they had no money for me. I always knew the war was fucked up, but that motivated me to say something about it. The government throws us away. They did the same thing after Vietnam.

Why do you think people should get involved in the antiwar movement?
Because it’s gotta stop. Innocent people are getting killed. Bush says we have to stay the course and that it’s hard work. Bush doesn’t know what work is.

Anything else you want to say?
Yeah. The news here is controlled. The military lets information out that serves their purposes. We slaughtered a sovereign nation. Reporters got killed.

When I was growing up, everyone thought I’d be a criminal, but they were wrong. I’m gonna be one of the leaders of the revolution.

This is the follow up from the Army.

Today, the Army ran a check on Mr. MacBeth?s credentials. It turns out, not surprisingly to anybody with half a mind, that Mr. MacBeth has NO Army service record. Anywhere. Period. This is a direct quote given to me by Army spokesman John Boyce:

?Initial research by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg shows no Soldier with the name of Jesse Macbeth having ever been assigned to the Special Forces or the Army Rangers ? which are, in fact, two separate disciplines.

This appears to be some sort of hoax. No Soldier by that name at Fort Lewis to our knowledge, in the past, either. Of course, the line about ?go into the Army or go to jail? is vintage TV script not heard since the 1960s. There are also numerous wear and appearance issues with the Soldier?s uniform ? a mix of foreign uniforms with the sleeves rolled up like a Marine and a badly floppy tan beret worn like a pastry chef. Of course, the allegations of war crimes are vague, as are the awards the Soldier allegedly received.?

And this is what Wikipedia has on this clown.

Video at peacefilms.org
In the video, Macbeth makes a number of allegations about his service in the Iraq War (approximate point in the video noted in parentheses):

He and other U.S. Army Rangers were ordered “…do whatever it takes…to strike fear in the hearts of the Iraqis…” (1:07);
He and other Rangers routinely executed children as part of the interrogations of their parents (6:15);
He personally killed almost 200 men, women, and children, many at close range, and most or all noncombatants (7:30);
He and other Rangers infiltrated a mosque, waited for about 200 worshipers to arrive and pray, slaughtered them with guns, ignited the bodies, hung them from the rafters, wrote anti-muslim graffiti on the walls, and left bodies in the streets (9:30);
He and other Rangers shot and killed unarmed protesters and children who threw rocks (12:20);
He personally killed a mother pleading for mercy, and her three children, including an infant, because he “had to.”(16:05);
At the end of the video, he comments on how the mainstream media won’t quote him, which is why independent media are necessary so that truth can be disseminated.

At present, no other primary sources have described the atrocities that Macbeth describes, all of which are apparent violations of Geneva Conventions.

Timeline and Inconsistencies
Over time, Macbeth has given several interviews and has been quoted and published in several online sources. A number of inconsistencies have appeared in reports about him, or in quotes attributed to him.

Jessie Macbeth, as used in the video, may not be the correct spelling of his name; he has also been identified as Jesse Macbeth and Jesse MacBeth by various online publications.

A narrator in the video says that Macbeth “…served in Iraq for 16 months before being wounded…” The war began on 20 March 2003. The Eastern Arizona Courier reported on 3 November 2003 that Jesse MacBeth had returned 2 and a half months prior - roughly in late August of 2003, after sustaining a back injury, limiting possible time actually in Iraq to five months[3].

Macbeth is quoted in an April 26, 2006 SocialistAlternative.org article as saying that he was “stabbed many times,” has shrapnel in his knee, and has been shot in the back, and that he has received the Purple Heart.[4] The Eastern Arizona Courier article reported that MacBeth had been shot in the back by an M16 rifle while in an Iraqi tunnel, but that a Canadian nurse stitched him up and he continued fighting. (Canada was not a known participant in the Multinational force in Iraq at the time of the article’s publication.) The article also says that he planned to attend a hearing that month about a medical discharge from the Army. There was no mention of the stabbings or the shrapnel in the article.

The report on SocialistAlternative.org includes the Macbeth quote “We would leave the bodies in the streets and blame it on the Shi’ites or the Sunnis. [In Fallujah] we were ordered to go into mosques and slaughter people while they were praying.” In the video, he said this was in retribution for the similar acts done to the bodies of American contractors. The mutilation and public display of American corpses in Fallujah happened March 31, 2004, after the publication of the Eastern Arizona Courier article placing Macbeth in Arizona.

An Arizona Indymedia article by the Free to Camp Coalition reported that in March of 2004, Macbeth was banned from an Arizona coffee shop for wearing his military uniform. The article refered to Macbeth as a young Iraq war veteran[5]. In April of 2004, Macbeth was involved in a protest organized by the coalition, concerning the banning and other alleged discriminatory practices. Macbeth is described as an Iraq war veteran in The State Press, the student newspaper at Arizona State University, in an April 12 article [6], an April 12 editorial[7] and an April 19 editorial [8].

An April 23, 2004 guest editorial attributed to Jesse Macbeth in also appeared in The State Press about the coffee shop dispute, noting that he had already spent 16 months in Iraq. The column was published, despite the war’s duration being only 13 months then. The writer asserted that he was about to be redeployed[9].

Operation Vigilant Resolve, an attempt by U.S. forces to gain control of the city of Fallujah, began in April of 2004.

From June to September of 2004, Macbeth (or his attorney) was dealing with legal issues in Arizona. On Sept. 28, 2004, Macbeth was convicted of fraudulent use of a credit card in Graham County (Arizona) Superior Court[10].

Operation Plymouth Rock, the Marines’ siege of Fallujah, occurred in November of 2004. The Supreme Court of Arizona’s public access to court documents database indicates that Macbeth had some records pertaining to probation recorded after the siege and through May of 2006.

In the report on SocialistAlternative.org, Macbeth says his unit was the 3d Ranger Battalion. The unit did not participate in the siege of Fallujah. Macbeth also says he was “picked” for Ranger School. Ranger School students are ordinarily volunteers[11]. Macbeth’s face is also not discernable among photos of Ranger School graduating classes from 2001 to 2003 available on the Internet[12].

Additionally, many people have questioned the authenticity of Macbeth’s uniform:
Macbeth wears his beret with the flash over the wrong eye;
Macbeth wears a Special Forces Combat Patch, while claiming to have served with the Rangers;
Macbeth wears two tabs above his special forces patch where only one is necessary;
Macbeth does not wear a ranger tab;
Macbeth does not wear a Parachutist badge, worn by Rangers because they are airborne troops ;
Macbeth’s rank is not sewn onto his uniform, as Rangers would (instead of the metal pins);
Macbeth rolls his sleeves as a Marine would, not as a soldier would;
Macbeth has the wrong flash on his beret, and no regimental crest attached.
Critics of Macbeth suggest that because his uniform is not worn properly, with the correct patches sewn on, that he was not actually a soldier of any kind, let alone a Ranger.

Additionally, on Military.com, an account in his name had a profile that claimed two awards of both the Combat Infantryman Badge and Combat Action Badge, as well as the Parachutist Badge, with 3 combat service stars, until 22 May 2006. Decoration with both the CIB and CAB is possible under certain circumstances, though impossible without switching operational specialities. Decoration with two awards of the CIB is not possible without combat service prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom. Decoration with two awards of the CAB is not possible at the time of the profile’s posting.[13] A Parachutist Badge with 3 combat stars is not possible without having served in Operation Desert Storm and/or an earlier conflict. In order to have been awarded all awards on this Military.com account, Macbeth would have had to have a much longer military career than he claimed, as well as be at least 10 years older than he is.

A definite determination on Macbeth’s veteran status would be possible with a copy of Macbeth’s DD-214 military record, no version of which is available online. It is not known whether any of the mass media or independent media outlets that quoted Macbeth have requested this documentation.

On March 24, 2006, a Myspace user Shadowhart (with first name Jesse) posted a blog entry describing the alleged atrocities in Iraq. Some of the details of the alleged mosque atrocity are different from the story related in the video.[14]

The Socialistalternative.org interview with Macbeth was published April 26, 2006.

On May 22, 2006, the Just Citizens blog posted a quote attributed to Army spokesman John Boyce about Macbeth:

?Initial research by the U.S. Army Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg shows no Soldier with the name of Jesse Macbeth having ever been assigned to the Special Forces or the Army Rangers – which are, in fact, two separate disciplines. This appears to be some sort of hoax. [15]?

Iraq Veterans Against the War membership
MacBeth has been associated with the organization, Iraq Veterans Against the War.

MacBeth was photographed at a March 19, 2006 third anniversary of the War in Iraq march and rally in Tacoma, Washington, carrying a banner for the organization. [16]. He was also photographed addressing the subsquent rally indoors at a microphone [17].

He appears on a list of “special guests” as a member of the group at a May 17, 2006 “Halliburton on the Run!” Teach-in and press event in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The list was circulated on numerous blogs[18].

The video posted at peacefilms.org repeatedly uses the name of Iraq Veterans Against the War.

On 23 May, 2006, Iraq Veterans Against the War released a statement: " Jesse MacBeth is not a spokesperson for IVAW and any claims made by MacBeth about his service have not been verified[19]."

Military.com membership
On 22 May, 2006, a Military.com user profile for “Jesse a Macbeth” listed among his ribbons a Bronze Star (without a valor device), a Purple Heart, an Army Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, an Army Service Ribbon, and an Overseas Service Ribbon. He also listed among his badges the Ranger tab, the Special Forces tab, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Combat Action Badge, Airborne jump wings, and a marksmanship award.

By the evening of 22 May, 2006, the profile had been updated to remove the decorations, though the profile still asserts service from 2001 to 2005 with the 3rd Battalion, 75th Infantry Regiment, an Army Ranger unit[20].

Military.com does not check the identities of any of its users; although the account is associated with Macbeth and features his photograph and mentions an Iraq Veterans Against the War affilitation, it’s possible that the account was set up by someone else. The account has been active since 2005. Military.com also does not require proof of military service before professing veteran status.

As you can see, this clown can not even put together a uniform correctly or get his dates of service straight. I am sure there will be a special place in hell for him, for attempting to steal the honor of men in the fight.

See out takes of the video here. Make sure you have a trash can handy to throw up in.

Make sure you click on the link at the bottom of the page. In the interview he also claims to have spents 18 months in Ranger School. Ranger School is a 61 day course. I guess he recycled 10 times.

Another posterchild for the far left A-holes that are getting our soldiers killed and giving aid and comfort to the enemy. The guy never served in the military one day and pulls this shit.

The working at Wendy’s crap is probably true. So sad it is almost funny.

Yes, it is true. There have always been posers among the civilian population since the Vietnam war that have made outrageous claims of abuses, rapes, murders, and tortures that they claimed they saw happen and were forced to carry out. These people never served one day and only use these claims for propoganda. The saddest part of this story is that the many ignorant people believe this garbage because the mainstream liberal media refuses to expose these traitors.
The other sad part is nothing happens to these posers.

Jumper, let me add to this. As you may be aware, there are certain posters that claim a personal military background. Many of us have the strong suspicion that these persons did not actually serve. These persons then use their supposed service as a source of authority to further their Anti-Iraq War agenda.

I have to blame Bush for some of this. He could have done better with the press.

I’m looking forward to Rudy. I hope he asks some of the hostile lefties questions. It would be funny to watch them squirm.

Without a doubt, Rudy will handle the press better. I was hoping Fred Thompson would be the one, but I don’t see it happening. He would slaughter all comers in debates with just common sense. He would give Hillary and Obama the classic Reagan, you have got to be kidding me, look. If Gen. Petreaus can pull off Iraq and believe me he is the only person that can, look out for him in future elections.

You know he’s lying off the bat. They don’t “pick” anyone for Ranger school. You volunteer. You do have the option even if it wasn’t prearranged at your MOS schooling and you go Airborne to volunteer.

At Airborne school they came by in a truck and said “anyone that ones to go to Ranger right after this come on over and sign up”. Point being that even if you rolled into boot looking like Pat Tillman, no one picks you for Ranger school. Its not a game of flag football.

“He and other Rangers infiltrated a mosque, waited for about 200 worshipers to arrive and pray, slaughtered them with guns, ignited the bodies, hung them from the rafters, wrote anti-muslim graffiti on the walls, and left bodies in the streets”

If this were true, why didn’t our enemies video tape this and show it on Al Jazeera like the pictures from Abu Gharib? I believe it would have stired up more anger, if it were true, than some lame cartoons in Danish newspapers.

The article does a good job of showing exactly what a liar this guy really is.

One question: When did the Socialist Alternative website become the Mainstream Liberal Media?

I mean, gee, I bet they get five or six hits a week. Not exactly the New York Times, fellas. But hey, any excuse to whip yourselves up into an orgasmic frenzy of righteous indignation, right?

How are things in Iraq? I mean, you’re both posting from there, right?

Always good to have anther “Bush lied, everyone died” disciple on board.

There are guys on here that are military and some have been in Iraq.

Nice try with that tactic.

Do you have anything to add to this topic?

Thanks, in advance.

What I said was the liberal mainstream media should expose this dirtbag, but they will not. Your right, maybe those of us who have been to Iraq and have been to Ranger school or for that matter, have served in the armed forces shouldn’t be upset because to people like you there is nothing honorable about doing those things. Thousands have died for what that Ranger tab stands for, and this cunt comes along and disgraces it for some liberal propaganda bullshit and he never even earned it. One of the greatest priveleges of wearing a Ranger Tab is knowing that you are upholding a tradition of the great sacrifices of great men that came before you, men that gave their lives so ungrateful douchebags, that don’t believe in service, like you and this piece of trash Macbeth, can voice your retarded opinions. Yes asshole, I have a reason to be whipped up. By the way, there isn’t much difference between the NY times and the Socialistalternative.

The liberal media has its hands full exposing the lying cheat you voted into the white house.

You morans always know what the liberals should do. When will you figure out what YOU should do? And especially who you shouldn’t have voted for.

“Ooooh, but I’ve given up on GW”. Well, it’s about time, but it’s 2 elections to late you moron.

This thread is about Jesse Macbeth not GW. What are your feelings about Mr. Macbeths actions?

You can find kooks on both sides.

What do you think of this guy? He was a regular contributor to Free Republic, a right wing website:

I’ll see your Jesse Macbeth and raise you a Chad Castenga.

From what I read he seems like a douchebag. What do you think about Macbeth claiming his false service? Macbeth is a whole level of douchebag you can’t begin to understand unless you served your country. Castenga sounds like a nutjob. I am interested, what do you think about Macbeths actions dishonoring our heroes like he did? Why won’t you answer that, I answered your question about Castenga. Do you admire Macbeth or something? Just answer the question, please!

Brad61, are you there? I answered your question, why don’t you answer mine? What is your opinion of Mr. Macbeth and his dishonoring of America’s true heroes?

I always love when you guys tell me how I think and what I believe. Lemme put down this roasted Christian Baby Leg I was gnawing on for a sec, so I can type better…There…Okay, first off, has it occurred to you that the reason the Liberal Media hasn’t discredited Macbeth is because he doesn’t rate the effort? That just because you found him while you were trolling for political belly button lint on the internet doesn’t make him important? Second of all, how the hell do you know my stand on military service? Just because you’re happy to go over to Iraq and waste your time and possibly your life on a concocted war doesn’t mean I don’t have a responsibility as an American to try and put a stop to it and get as many of your asses home in one piece as I can. And maybe repair our country’s reputation in the process. You don’t like that? Tough. You’re defending all of America, not just the sector you agree with.
