TC,

Are you still taking Dutasteride of .5 mg every day ? I have read that the more common dosage is roughly .5 mg 2 or 3 times a week. I’m about to switch from finasteride to Dutasteride soon.

I’m flattered to have you respond to my post TC. I’ve been a fan of your candid writing style since your Muscle Media 2000 days back in 1994-1996 when I was a college kid at U of Miami.
I read that article you wrote on hair loss, and I am aware of your product that contains curcumin and resveratrol. I’m just a mad scientist at heart and have enjoyed making concoctions (even as a kid I loved my chemistry set). Thanks to everyone else who added to my forum.

Here’s where I’m at. Typical androgen-induced big forehead. I already know I look good with a completely shaved head(I’ve done it already) I’m just trying to hold onto my hair tooth and nail. It’s gotten to the point where my step daughter said: “you’re not gonna start doing a comb-over are you…” when she noticed I was letting my hair grow.

Here’s me with a shaved head. I guess I should say fuck it and keep it shaved. I’ll be a monkey’s uncle if I end up with a comb-over.

“Who loves ya, baby?”

I’ve been taking monoxidil for nearly 4 months (Kirkland brand from Costco). It’s helped grow back some on the crown. A lot of people say it takes 6-9 months of use to show a real difference though.

But a little more on topic: I also used take DIM, then I stopped, and now I started taking it again. It helps prevent testosterone from turning into DHT. I don’t know if it actually makes a difference in bringing back hair, but I noticed in the past that it helped my mood (I’ve never had a supplement make a noticeable difference for me on any purported benefit), so it’s worth it to me to keep taking it.

FWIW, my new barber recommended I take Nioxin 2 shampoo. It strengthens hair follicles, and although it doesn’t claim to bring hair back, some people say it makes a difference. I’ll switch to it when my current shampoo runs out since my hair is naturally thin and could use some thickening anyway.

I’m 34 and my hair has noticeable getting thinner since my late 20’s. It’s not to the point where I look like i’m really balding yet so I’m fine with keeping my hair and not shaving it for now. I’m not down for taking any type of chemicals or product that has some possible side effects.

Someone from another forum posted something interesting regarding the slowing and regrowing of his hair loss. I’ll respect TN by not providing the link, but only the text instead.
"My hair started thinning a couple of years ago. And earlier this year, it started getting really bad. A co-worker actually took a picture of the top and back of my head and I was astonished at just how bad it was getting.

I’ve never particularly been bothered by the idea that SOME DAY I might have to shave my head. But because I like to experiment, I wanted to experiment with seeing if I could save it or even reverse it.

On April 28th, I began using Pura d’or Organic Hair Loss Shampoo with a natural DHT blocker and argan oil in it. It’s on Amazon and is rated at 4 1/2 out of 5 stars with almost 400 reviews.

I also started taking a tocotrienol supplement called Tocomin Supra Bio by Healthy Origins.

I quit using all hair gels and style my hair with NuHair foam when I feel the need. I bought a bunch of it super cheap on clearance at Amazon.

Amazon.com: Buying Choices: Nu Hair Nuhair Foam, Small, 3.4 Fluid Ounce

The shampoo was $39 with free shipping. I started it on April 28 and still have about a half bottle left. Sometimes I wash my hair twice a day due to needing a post-workout shower. It may seem like a lot, but this stuff lasts.

It’s been a little over four months and my shedding stopped and my hair is beginning to fill back in. If anyone’s interested, check it out. Just be patient. Hair re-growth or progress can take several months."
I had a buddy take a 3 week vacation to Europe. At the beginning of the vaca, he had 3750 follicles transplanted via FUE at a highly rated clinic in Turkey. He came back and you never would have know he got the surgery.

The procedure plus the vacation cost him what the procedure alone would have cost in the States.

The Artas robotic machine has made hair transplantation easier, quicker, and nearly undetectable.

No, I take .1 mg a day. Put a shot of vodka in an empty soda bottle. Punch the capsule full of holes and throw it in. Let the drug dissipate into the alcohol for a few hours. Then add 4 shots of water or mixer. Take one shot a day for a dosage of .1 mg.

Hey! Thanks! Here’s to the mad scientists and biohackers!

the whole never getting a boner ever again thing puts me off things like dutasteride

Yeah, but there’s always Cialis or whatever pills… if you’re so inclined.

Those won’t help.

Some of the people who are impotent from finasteride stay impotent. Forever.

Scary stuff, I’d rather be bald.

I have friends who’ve used Propecia(finesteride), and say they’ve never been the same sexually after using it. They say they cannot climax the same way they used to. Sure, you can take Cialis or Viagra, but when you cum, a pathetic, anti-climactic dribble comes out-at least for those guys.

I’m at a loss…sigh

Now ready for the jeans thread.

Damn. The irony.

A dude wants to keep his hair to attract women, so he uses Propecia. He attracts some lovely women, but now he can’t get a boner due to the drug use.

As someone who has alopecia barbae on my face and hands, and has been drastically losing hair on my head over the past 1.5 years since my supposed auto-immune issues started. I wake up every morning hoping that either something miraculously has changed, or someone has created a miracle drug that will fix the issue.

Unfortunately to my knowledge no one has. Even more unfortunate, the drugs that are out there, every one of them seem to have a negative effect on your dick. And I just can’t justify taking that chance, especially without having procreated yet.
