I have my back last name piece done at 16 I started working out at 17.
I just recently got the Japanese dragon starting on my chest and half way down my right arm
Lotts of people in gyms have tats So what are your opinions of them ???
Do u know any one who had a membership revoked for a wrong t shirt like a tank top ,or for too many visible tat?
Just trying to get some interesting convo on a subject don’t think has been present.
Only place you are likely to have problems is Japan. They don’t allow visible tattoos in most gyms, amusment parks, water parks and public baths. Just bear that in mind if you ever go on holiday there (take long sleeves).
Depends on the ttats. Anything that would make people uncomfortable around here would probably get you kicked out; i.e. hate tatts, beaver shots, or whatnot. But, just having full sleeves or gore is no biggie. Most people avoid people with sleeves, because they are different. Hell, because of my work environment, I can only have half sleeves (no visible tatts allowed).

Tell me about it. I was out there last summer visiting friends and found it nearly impossible to get into Sento/ Onsen (bath-houses) in Tokyo.
Further afield in Hakuba it wasn’t so difficult which is good, I wouldn’t have wanted to miss out on soaking in a natural spring, overlooking the mountains.
In any case, all the Japanese people left as soon as they saw 3 of us Gaijin appear. I’ve heard that tattoos or not this is a common reaction to Westerners.
When I was out there I trained at a couple of different BJJ academies and had no problem with tattoos though, a lot of the Japanese there had tattoos of their own. From what I gather, attitudes towards tattoos are changing a lot in Japan, as they go from being associated with organised crime to being associated with Western fashion.
…i’ll never get why tattoos are STILL such a big deal to some folks–seriously?? who cares?? and i highly doubt someone would get kicked out of a gym for them…that’s just retarded.
A man trains at my gym with tattoos all over his face, arms, and scalp, so I dont think my gym has revoked anybodys membership for having too many tattoos.
I’m covered in tattoos. Nothing offensive or anything on my hands or neck though. I thought this thread would be about tattoos related to lifting, Martial arts, etc. The pic in my avatar is me and one of my tattoos. It’s my only workout related tattoo. And I’m pretty much sleeved on both arms and no one has ever bothered me about it.
Seriously, no one has criticized me, women don’t find me repulsive, old people don’t run from, kids don’t cry when they see me, I have no problem getting jobs, etc. I also have a good personality and don’t carry myself or look like a douche. Tattoos don’t make who you are unless you have shallow character to begin with.
Cool I saw a few interesting responses. Maybe a better question would have been have you heard of any people getting a warning or kicked out for not wearing proper gym attire? If proper gym attire is considered to strictly be a t shirt only.
Oh and to the person that said 09er you joined in 08 wow you got a whole year on me now.
