Gym Rats: Don't Be That Guy!

People that constantly check their mobile phones annoy me the most. I think some of them wear lifting gloves just to avoid getting callouses from using the keypad.

Sorry, but I have an issue with women like you wearing under garments to the gym and then getting mad when guys talk to/hit on you.

There is absolutely no reason your ass needs to be hanging out of those shorts. It makes for a good video to show the boys at T-Nation, but it is inappropriate to be out like that in public unless you are doing it for the soul purpose of getting hit on.

At my college gym, I see girls dressed slutty like that all the time get hit on by guys, and then I hear them complain to their friends about it.

Makes no fucking sense to me.

If this post sounded sarcastic, it wasn’t.

How is this different from guys who wear wife beaters and the like at the gym? There’s no need to show off your arms, you could just as easily do the workout in a shirt with actual sleeves that isnt glued to your body, unless you want people to see your physique.

Not saying that I care if guys wear beaters to the gym, and not saying that every wardrobe choice is based on showing off to the opposite sex, but since you brought it up…

And secondly, what does the video have to do with her being hit on? She was setting up in the rack about to squat, then some guy asks her if she’s using while she clearly is. If thats how he hits on women, he needs new game. I’m pretty sure he’s just an idiot who didn’t think a woman could possibly be using the rack, not with that much weight on the bar (very impressive btw).

LOL, nice.
He wasn’t hitting on me, he wanted to do pull-ups. If he was hitting on my old ass, I’d be just as polite and ask him to move anyways.
Would you try and initiate conversation when someone is literally under the bar ready to go?

I happen to believe any woman sharing gym-space with me wants a ride on the Iron Warrior, so fuck yes, I’d interrupt.

I’d interrupt all night long.

So how long you been coming to this gym? I’m usually here in the mornings, you know, two, three workouts a day, I split it up. I’m probably coming when you’re going, haha. But seriously, you shouldn’t squat, it’ll ruin your knees!

Speaking of knees, want a smoothie? I’m totes gettin’ a smoothy. That shit’s got some straight-up NO2 in thizzat! Want to see my Ed Hardy t-shirt collection? I swear, it’s absolutely not as gay as two men having sex with a third, equally gay man.

Just hit me up when you’re finished with the rack, 'k. Thanks.

I used to wear sleeveless cotton shirts because I hated having something in my armpit when I sweat. I now wear Nike Dri-Fit shirts that have sleeves, because they do a great job at staying dry.

The difference is, most guys who were those ‘cut-to-the-waste’ on the side shirts, probably don’t care how much they get talked to or hit on.

The video has everything to do with her being hit on. Sure, the old man did it at the wrong time. He initiated the conversation because he thought she was attractive, or because her ass was hanging out, one of the two.

Ouch. That’s probably me checking my workout progress on Gym Buddy. Good app, btw. Only problem is, it makes you look like a total twat who can’t tear himself away from his mobile…

I think most people agree that those “cut-to-the-waste” shirts will repel anyone from wanting to talk to you. At least, that’s my theory.

He wasn’t hitting on her, he was asking to use the rack. I’d hope if someone were hitting on her, they’d have enough self control to govern their actions so that she’s not literally under the bar when they do it.

I hope you have a bit more common sense than that.

Do you pity the fool who use any of your 15 machines?

Hey Dianab, CPU nats are in your homeland this year, you competing?

Funny how I feel like I’ve been in those situations at least once. Me being the offender.

It’s annoying how people hog like three different stuff at the same time AND get offended when you try to ease them, even if you’re not removing any weights, or anything they put on it.

My homeland LOL
OUIN!!!
I’ll be there.

You guys better be doing nationals next year, too. I want to see lots of T-Nationites in MY homeland.

Yeah I’ll be there, might be in a new weight class though, I can’t afford new gear so I might just eat my way into the old stuff. I’m still debating on whether I want to go head to head with you in the 60kg.
Oh yeah and my oly coach has advised me to gain a few pounds, my weightclass is 62kg,

I didn’t know you guys were hosting next year, that’s awesome! I love PEI.

Luckily the equipment hoggers in my gym are the smaller guys who do some modified circuit/super/giant set bs - so I just wait for them to go on to their the next piece of equipment and then jump on what I wanted - I’ll be damned if I’m going to wait 15-20 mins for them to finish when it might be the last thing I need to do before I get done (fuck even if it’s the first thing I’ll take it - I’m an asshole so sue me). They usually never say anything when they come back and see me using it so I’m not sure what I would if they said hey I’m using that - probably tell them well I am too now so you can’t wait or try to work in - then purposelly slow them down until they go away.
