Some douche bag was training in my garage yesterday.
there’s this one kid who comes up to me once a month asking the same questions every time in which he gets the same response each time.
"
him: What workout do you think I should do?
me:madcow’s 5x5
him: wow you should stop reading bb.com but I don’t feel like there’s enough volume
me: lift heavier then and I barely look at bb.com, I read T-Nation
him: steroids are cheating(changes the topic instantly)
me: you still need to work hard on steroids
him:(changing topic again) I know some 14 year old’s that bench 340lbs
me: good for them
him: what program do you think I should go on to get bigger?
me: madcows :rolls eyes:
"
this went on for almost my entire workout another classic one from the same session
"him: inaudible noise
me:(took my earphones off) what?
him:your really a powerlifter arent you?
me: no, why?
him: cause your wearing chucks
me: umm ok(puts earphones back in and gets back too bent over rows)
"

Put him through a workout then. Make him squirm but don’t make him do anything he isn’t capable of doing. Don’t answer any questions, just tell him to shut up and do the exercise you tell him to do.
If he comes back for another session, then great, you can mentor him. If he thought you put him through something to hard, then he’ll probably never bother you again.
He either really wants to learn, or he’s just being a smartass, but if he wants to learn seriously, then teach him. (correctly!)
we have a upper body only guy. We call him:
ATROPHY MAN!!!
this motherfuck has some seriosly tiny thighs. I mean he SRCs, does abs in the squat racks, and literally has the lower body development of a 2 year old girl. I mena like, this guys legs are probably under 20"
Nothin as bad as y’all tonight, just another guy in the squat rack doin curls… with no weight on the damn barbell!
We don’t have a lot of douchebags at my gym, but the other day we did have a couple dumb high school kids.
Pretty much what you’d expect…both were wearing sleeveless shirts even though they were both tiny, talking on their cell phones and bullshitting with each other in the middle of their sets of curls, which of course was all they were doing.

Most people’s legs are (and I am not counting the really fat people).

Today I decided to switch things up and instead of going to my normal smaller gym I went with my friend to the new LA fitness around our area. Maybe I’m the only one who gets pissed about things like this but whenever I walked into the weight room, I was blown away by the number of “tools” that were working out.
It looked more like a fashion show rather than a workout. There huge dudes in there under armor sweat suits, others in matching Air Jordan outfits with their backwards hats. I was expecting some guys to pull out cameras and take myspace pictures.
To top it all off, I had decided to ask one of the guys if I was squatting correctly. He then constantly told me to look at his ass while he did the squat. And after he then told me “its better if you use real weights” (I had about a ten on each side)
Did I forget to mention the fact that I had a leg brace on at the time and am just getting done rehabing my knee, so I was trying to get the best form down before I did even close to heavy weight, and this fuck says something like that. This might just me being pissed because of the major dueschs that go to big gyms, but if anyone else has a story please share.
How exactly was this a “major deusch” story? You asked the man for advice, and rather than act like most assholes at any gym and tell you to fuck off, he took time to show you. And how was his advice wrong?
He didn’t tell you to put more weight on the bar, he just made a suggestion that it’s better if you use real weights, he’s absolutely right. Maybe he didn’t mean for you to actually do it with a leg brace, he might have meant it for to keep in mind in the future when your leg gets better.
Sounds to me like you are probably jealous of this guy cause you thought his ass looked nice. or was he stronger and better looking than you?
I’ve had problems with characters at the gym too, but at least the squat rack was open and didnt have someone in there jumping rope or doing blue ball incline dumbbell presses in it. And it sounds like another issue is that you let yourself be distracted.
They aren’t in your space, nor were they concerned about you, so why are you so obsessed with any of them? And finally, since you obviously came in there with an “im to good for this place attitude”, what seperates you from those “major deusches” you say they are when you ask someone advice with the intent to be a jackass?

Yeah I was thinking about doing that generally I’m happy too offer a spot or any advice but I believe I give solid advice to newbies however this kid doesn’t believe he falls into that category
How about when people ask to “work in with you” and proceed to pull all the weight off the bar, do their half range of motion set with pussy weight than waddle off to the water fountain without reloading the bar with what you were working out with.
It has only happened once to me, and he will never do it again, when he came back for his next “brutal set” with 135 I told him to fuck his mother.
You dont ask to work in with people unless your lifting about what are using.
And your CERTAINLY dont pull their shit off and just leave it for them to put back on when your done.
Here’s one of my favorite sites… I think he’s a T-Nation member too.
And I love a good giggle at anyone using a Swiss Ball
This weekend there were two guys doing one arm rows with the smith machine. I could understand doing this if there were no heavy dumbbells and you had a couple 45s on each side, but these guys had two 10s on each side. Yep, they were rowing a grand total of 55 pounds in the smith machine. Look out Murisz, these guys are gunning for ya!
i get a kick out of the guy who puts 315 on the bar and then doesn’t even approach a quarter squat…i mean he barely bends his knee, it’s the funniest fucking thing

When did having 18 inch arms become a prerequisite for wearing a sleeveless shirt?
I wear 'em all the time, and I’m a small guy.

Oh it isn’t really, I was just describing the situation - I have no problem with people who wear sleeveless shirts and aren’t assholes. It just seems like most gym d-bags are skinny and wear sleeveless shirts for some reason.

I had something along those lines happen to me, maybe a year ago. It still baffles me.
I was dipping at a station and woman comes over after a set and asks if she can work in. It was one of those stations where you can do pullups or dips either one and I say sure and step back.
So she does a set of chin ups. I’m taking a long break so I watch as she then goes directly to a set of dips.
Then she stands up there (it has steps to get up to the pullup part) and doesn’t come down. I was a couple of steps away and so I thought that she assumed I walked off or something.
So I step over, off to the side in her peripheral vision but not trying to be an ass about it. She glances over at me and then proceeds to stand there, rest AND DO THREE MORE SETS of pullups and dips as a super set.
Worst thing was that I was so amazing and her ball-less balls that I couldn’t even think of any zinger. How can she ask to work in with suck poor-fuck understanding of the term???

You know you could’ve said “may I work back in?” People usually get the point.
This isn’t so much a douchebag comment, but I’m saddened that all the guys that squat to parallel in my gym are crossfitters.

idk people are pretty normal i guess at my gym.
theres some weird guy who wears a shirt that has sleeves but nothing covering the shoulders and some kid who is just an ass doing half reps and grunting, smacking himself in the head. other than them though, its fine.
oh wait what was i talking about? my gym uses PT’s who probaly know less than 50% of the people in there. they will take any motion then put it on a bosu ball, i shit you not. it doesnt matter what it is. theyll make you deadlift on a bosu ball theyll make you do dumb bell press on a bosu ball, theyll make you do clean and jerks on a bosu ball while a nearby poodle jumps through hoops.
i think the PTs are the worst because they sell douchebaggery at premium price.
i just feel as a PT youre supposed to know better. and theyre always guys with the phyisque of Jason Biggs.
