Great thread ‘again’ WestCoast.

I have never tried Colonix but three work collegaues of mine have. They all bought one course and nothing happened i.e. no crazy looking stools as depicted in drnature.com picture gallery (you have to check it out!)

Anyway, one person bought a second dose and bingo, one of those alien poops reared its ugly little head. I will ask them later how they felt after the course and did their digestion / energy levels etc. change as a result.

BTW it’s a woman, so talking about her pooping habits gets weird really quickly!

The glutamine/probiotic/enzyme course has really saved my digestion. I was even able to eat out for every meal last week and nothing terrible happened!

No one has really elaborated on their specific gut problem, if indeed they do have one.

So people with gut problems, are you experiencing one or more of the following and if so how did you solve that particular problem?

Loose stools
Diarrhea
Flatulence
Bloated stomachs
Constipation
Stinking stools
Continuous wiping
Concrete skid marks in the toilet bowl etc.

If you have had a problem and solved it, it would be great to know how you did it!

AND

If the problems were solved how did you feel, energy wise i.e. in your training or daily life?

Thanks!

Yes, plus sometimes undigested food. It was pretty terrible. I since moved from training 3 days/week to 5 days/week. Recovery is much much better… 5/week would have killed me a month ago. Also been able to reduce the quantity of food I consume and still make progress (i.e. set PRs).

This is what I did:

[quote]plateau wrote:

1st 3 days - 40-60g glutamine each day - 6 doses or so in water throughout the day.

4th day - introduce enteric coated acidophilus - Primadophilus by Nature’s Way is a good choice - if taking this product, take 1 capsule between meals 3x per day. Take for 2 weeks and if symptoms abate, stop here (although keep taking a maintenance dose of 1-2 capsules a day as long as symptoms are gone).

18th day - if healthy bacterial isn’t relieving problems, introduce digestive enzymes - Omegazyme is a good one - take 1-2 capsules with each feeding. Take for 2 weeks and if symptoms abate, keep this regimen.

Glad to hear that man!

I thought I’d never eat big again!

Cramp, diarahea, bloating…

Yea some of those pictures were unreal! I think I’m going to order one dose and see how it goes. It has received very positive reviews on other sites and also has pretty high quality ingredients. My digestion is already pretty good, but it would be nice to clean things out if there is anything like that in there.

One of the best snippets I read though is that if it takes you significantly longer to go number 2 than it does number 1, than something is probably wrong. You should be able to sit, deliver, and go.

I use digestive enzymes on a daily basis and have one perfect BM per day in the morning, so everything seems to be functioning pretty optimally.

Do you think adding probiotics, like the ones you utilized in the second portion of your regiment, would be of any benefit? or just simply overkill?

I had been taking enzymes for a while before this and they did help immensely, but if I ate anything more exciting that chicken breast, buckwheat gruel, and whey/malto, BMs would get messy quickly. Adding the probiotics (Primadophilus) has allowed me to eat out and even start drinking eggs. Even had a 22oz Sam Adams (not gluten free!) and it didn’t kill me the next day.

I usually have one pretty good BM per day (not perfect as Chek would describe it) and sometimes extra if I have lots of coffee. I will keep going with the glutamine at 15g/day, probiotic 3x/day and 2 enzyme caps before solid meals. Already consuming several pieces of fruit every day and I will add in more veggies as well. As I am not a Celiac, one day I may even be able to have donuts again lol.

TL;DNR: adding enteric coated probiotics helped me.

Are you using the Nature’s Way one? I take digestive enzymes with every meal, so doing the same with probiotics wouldn’t be a big deal. When do you take 'em?

I have chronic acid reflux and barrett’s esophagus from it.

Tried everything.

Twinlab super enzymes, but I’m not particular about the brand. Nature’s Way Primadophilus Original probiotic.

Yea, I like my enzymes so I’m sticking with those, I’m interested in the probiotic your taking, most say once per day but your doing it three? any reason in particular? If my guy health is running pretty well, I feel like once probiotic per day would be fine?

I am actually having some issues with Grow! Whey protein. Usually gives me diarrhea which is a pain in the ass(no pun intended). I started supplementing some fiber since I don’t eat too many veggies with my diet so hopefully this will make a difference.

Anyone else have issue with whey protein?

Whey protein in general gives a ton of people problems.

Yeah man, it sounds like your guts are in way better shape than mine. IDK if you would even need to take them. Pretty cheap though, so it couldn’t hurt to try.

Yea after doing some reading it looks like there would be no point in taking them if my gut is already doing very well. I’m going to keep the digestive enzymes though, I think they work wonders.

I want to start up my protocol again. At bed time:

Glutamine - 5 to 10 g
probiotic - 35 billion CFU, multi strain
prebiotic - psyllium + inulin or acacia (8-10 g total)

I will add the Ganaeden BC-30 probiotic that Dr. Z mentioned in an article on here.

Just picked up First Cleanse by Renew Life, a 14 day cleanse for those who haven’t done one before and already have fairly good gut health and bowel movement. I’ll let y’all know how it goes.
