Gun Purchases

but wouldn’t the protection provided by having a gun be far out weighted by the fact that every tom, dick and harry has a gun also??

Here in Australia there has been a rise in weapon (poles knifes etc) usage in street fights, but id still rather a pole to the head then a bullet…

I’m mesmerized by your avatar.

The bad guys here will ALWAYS have access to guns one way or another, the rest of us are just leveling the playing field.

You just proved the issue is with human nature itself, not the tools humans create.

Guns are somehow “beautiful”.
I don’t know, exactly how to make any sense at all from that.
They are fun, but I don’t feel like I need a gun, or a any kind of firearm, at all. My shooting range have rifles you can borrow, but I suppose if you don’t have that you could buy a gun and bring it.

hmmm i dont own a gun but i think it be fun to shoot stuff up every now and then…can u just show up to a gun range or something and do that? I heard they have places like that in vegas but i dunno about the rest of the country? (im canadian btw)

yes. We are the greatest country in the world. One can just go to a gun range, rent a gun, buy bullets, and start shooting.

I know you can own some pretty cool assault-type rifles up in Canada that are not available for sale here in the US. One is the Israeli Tavor (which appears will actually be built in the US for us by Charles Daly) and another is the SIG 550 series.

In the US, gun laws vary by state. Some states allow concealed carry of pistols and ownership of machine guns, short barreled rifles and suppressors (silencers).

fk me, does everyone in America carry a gun? You guys talk buying a gun like we talk about buying a mobile phone!!![/quote]

Not everyone, only people in states that are allowed to. Certain crime-free paradises like NYC and Kalifornia do not allow you to defend yourself.

not exactly sure how specific you are when you say ‘550 series’, but I recently purchased a sig 556 rifle.

but yes, the 550 specifically is not availible in the US.

yo i would LOVE to own a tavor. holy shit those things are fucking awesome.

Yeah I would love to get my hands on a tavor I like the look and feel of the bullpup. HM is that an AR10 or your 556 in the pic and if its a 556 what length barrel you have on it.

That’s actually a SPR. Pretty much just a mad tricked out M-16. Army SF and SEALS use them in designated marksmen/sniper roles. I’m pretty sure it was a Mk 12 Mod 0 version (sjoconn or alpha or someone would have to double check for me) the barrel length was 18in and it fired 5.56 ammo (but not standard issue, although i forget what kind)

Mac - (where are the ho pics you owe me BTW?) - OK - back to guns, not wimmen -

By 550 series I meant the true Swiss guns that use their own mag and not the AR mags like the 556. 550s are available in what they refer to as the pre-bans - meaning expensive as shit because no more of them can be imported. There are 550-1 and 550-2 models out there (only diff is the rifling twist and carbine versions) as well as the 550 Sniper but they sell for about $10,000. I didn’t get a 556 yet (I know there’re diffs between the 556 and the 556 Classic) but I did pick up a black 551.

The Canucks can purchase what I believe they refer to as the SIG Blue Star which is a 550 series.

According to a link at ar-15.com in the bullpup section the TAVOR will be manufactured here in the US by Charles Daly Co. I think there’s just X amount of parts that have to be US made for them to offer it for sale to us.

And BTW - I’m a proud owner of a FAMAS.

wow i’m really excited. i hope it comes out soon so i can get myself a haunkkah present.

as in a class III famas? not sure what the civillian designation of that weapon is.

as for bullpups, i haven’t shot many. i shot the fs2000, thought that was pretty enjoyable.

Not a full-auto FAMAS. A pre-1989 semi-auto, nearly impossible to get parts for! Hope it doesn’t ever break but I don’t shoot it anyway.

That TAVOR is a cool little fucker.

You heard of the KelTec RFB? Bullpup in 30fucking8. Uses FAL mags.

Saw a thread about guns. Read through the discussion. Saveski brought up Kel-Tec RFB. Googled it.

I believe I may be picking one of these up instead of the M1A Scout Squad I was considering…

Holy shit, it’s beautiful.

that’s right, i remember someone telling me about that. looks pretty cool

the spent cartridges are ejected in the same fashion as the fs2000.

my only qualms about it would be A.) it’s made by kel-tec and B.)the loading of a magazine looks to be somewhat awkward.

If you get it Rev, please make sure to tell me about it.

nice to see there’s some gun nuts here!

AR15.com is a pretty damn good gun site. There’s a big thread there about the Kel Tec RFB but I haven’t been following it. I agree with Mac about it being made by Keltec - wouldn’t bet my life on their pistols but they sell.

I know of only one other bullpup in 308 - can’t think of it now, maybe it was called a G2 - I think AWC (suppressor maker) made it in the late 80s. It was an M1A modded to bullpup and I know the Israeils used and perhaps manufactured a bunch of them.

Yup - it’s an AWC G2. Here’s a pic.

I’m a fan of the M14/M1A and Smith Enterprises and also LaFrance did chopped versions of the M1A called the M14K. Played with one years ago - badass little gun.

13" barrell with muzzle brake to make it 16" AND the gas system was from an M60 machine gun!

Here’s Smith’s M14K.

badass - would rather carry that in combat than an M4 - just because of that 308 round.
