Thatās a great picture!
Do you have your own internal central heating? By golly, how can you stand out in the snow with the right to bear arms! ( pun intended )
The breakfast looked fantastic also - I am sure you generated some heat but stillā¦
Mr. Push that looks like a great day at the home/range. Carry that .44 much? I like the sled for hauling stuff. We have snow on the range about 9 months out of the year so I will try that soon. I am glad to read about your sonās strong recovery.
Seen this on my facebook newsfeed, looks like it might be good if it actually comes out. Apparently its being financed by the Oathkeepers.

but have never looked into the whole process of what is required to purchase an NFA item. Anyone have any information on the best way of going about it or a good resource online walking through everything?

You need to purchase the weapon in a gun trust. Much easier processing and less hassle. Also easier to transfer.
I have several contacts I can send you to have one prepared.
ATF recently changed their rules so that LE permission is not required to transfer to an individual. I think it was aimed at the whole gun trust thing, which has become very popular.
Might want to double check my statement. I think this happened within the last month or so.
No, if anything, theyāve gotten more restrictive.
In a trust (or a company), you can avoid getting fingerprinted and getting the signature of the āchief law enforecementā officer in your jurisdiction. This has not changed.

I just put a deposit on a Beretta Storm 9mm. Iām very excited ![]()

I was intrigued by these guns too, but sadly, Chiappa is getting a bad rep for quality.
I picked up a Smith & Wesson Governor instead.

Thatās an interesting revolver.*
The .45 Long Colt (really .45 Colt, but no one calls it that) is a nice round. I know many a person who has killed a bear up close and in person with a .45 Colt, so it should do nicely in anti-person situation.
Plus, for whatever reason, the .45 Long Colt is on the shelf everywhere, when all the other pistol ammo is bought up.
I could see the use in a .410 bird shot followed by .45 Colt, too. Keep in mind, however, your effective range is no more than 6 to 10 feet, and it probably could not penetrate a heavy leather coat.

I love this gun⦠Is this the S&W equivalent to Taurusās āThe Judgeā? Looks about the same size and caliber.
For my money this is the ābestā over all gun for medium talent gun owners, for home protection. If you keep it loaded with the 410 shot gun rounds, even if you are shaky and nervous you have a pretty good shot at taking down the asshole who broke in to your house. You can do damage even if your aim isnāt so great, but itās a hand gun. Hell, you can fill it with 2 rounds of 410 shells and then the other 3 with .45ās. You can disarm the motherfucker and then finish him off. ![]()

@thethirdruffian:
Thereās some interesting .410 defense ammo available now. 3 discs + shot, 3-4 buckshot pellets etc. But I do like the idea of staggering rounds. Half-moon clips are provided so you can do this with 45 ACP too.
Now explain the different between a ship and a boat. ![]()

Yes, this is the S&W answer to the Taurus Judge. I read several reviews and the Smith is much higher quality. The Judge has over a dozen finish and configuration options now, but the Smith is just better made, plus holds one more round than most Judges. Can only use 2.5 inch shells though, but no biggie. Plus it shoots 45 ACP with moon clips. So, 3 choices of ammo.

Are we counting the Great Lakes in that question? ![]()
Very cool and interesting choice, Chris. We were looking at the Chiappa again last night, and as you say saw that there were various reports of quality issues. To me also the Governor seems definitely the better choice. Thanks!

Heck, I donāt know. I was Army, not Navy. I shot at some boats on the Amu Darya and probably would not shot at at a ship. Is that it?
While we are at it, make sure the difference between a āmagazineā and a āclip.ā āMagazinesā are things you put rounds INTO. This could be room on a boat. This could be a hole dug into a fortification, or it could be the Magpul you put in the bottom of your AR-15.
āClipsā are things that hold rounds together for easier loading.
So this revolver has a moon āclipā (as you stated properly).
A Glock has a magazine.

Thanks for sharing that.
I was pretty disappointed on reading some more bad reviews last night and hoped they might fix the issues by next year.
The appeal of the Chiappa for me as a female would have been its compact size and the low muzzle flip and low recoil.
The Governor looks a tad big compared to the Chiappa 200DS, though that is actually perfect for my husband.

A boat is a craft that is small enough to be carried by a ship. For example, small craft company uses boats and, when deployed, those boats are put aboard ships. Landing craft are also a great example of a boat that is carried in a ship.

Boats would get big then:
Getting back on track, more likely though if getting a revolver Iād get this, or similar:
