First post here, I read this forum a couple years ago but never posted. I’m trying to get back in shape, and will be posting a little this time around.
I saw this thread and had to weigh in, I’m a competitive shooter and am working on getting a side business going to build long range rifles. Here’s the one I just finished building for myself for this year. KMW Sentinel stock, Badger action, Bartlein barrel, CG Jackson trigger. It’s chambered in 6mm SuperLR, which is a .243 modified slightly to shoot heavier bullets better. I did all the work including threading and chambering the barrel, bedding the stock, and cerakoting the barrel.
Pic didn’t work, let’s try that again.

Very nice! What level of difficulty would you say glass bedding an M-14 action would be? Also I’ve read that once you’ve bedded the rifle you’re not supposed to remove the action from the stock. Is it that you can’t remove it at all without screwing it up, or is it that with repeated removal it eventually becomes loose, thereby affecting accuracy?

Welcome! That thing looks badass a lot of love into that thing good work.
Removed the finger grooves. Done fing with this, I think. Feels much better without the grooves.

I’ve never bedded an M14, but I’ve bedded a similar type rifle. It was MUCH harder than a standard bolt action. The way the bottom metal locks the action into the stock adds difficulty; it can be done at home, but you really have to pay attention to what you’re doing if you ever want to get it back apart again. You can take it apart afterwards, it’s just not recommended that you do it repeatedly so it stays tight.

Really nice. What are you shooting from it?
Sooner or later I’ll have a more competition oriented rifle. I just wish there were more competitions, closer to me.

Undercut the trigger guard?
I have a glock knuckle callus rivaling the ones from deadlifting.

Nah, I have thought about it though but I think I will try it on a different gun. I have a small caucus from it but nothing too bad
Made a tek lok holster and fits both my 17 and 41. Pretty cheap the parts cost about 15 bucks from DIY

What happens if you own a Tavor now, and next year the powers that be decide the Tavor is a scary assault rifle and they ban it?

If they prohibit the weapon, you’ll have to surrender it. This happened with rifles made by Swiss Arms recently. Owners have a two year amnesty period where criminal charges won’t be pursued for possessing the now prohibited firearms.
No word on compensation. I doubt there will be.
The Public Safety Minister is pissed.
One more of mine, was a fairly inexpensive build but a lot of parts came off prize tables. Noveske lower and barrel, Geissele SDE trigger, BCM bcg, SAS Arbiter suppressor. Shoots really well, it’s also my main deer rifle.

Actually just shot it yesterday to work up a load. I was shooting 105 Amaxes, and I think they’ll do all I need at half the price of a 105 Berger Hybrid. My load work up was too light, my max load was around 3025 fps and I’m looking for between 3100 and 3150 if I can get it. I had no pressure signs, so I’ll load some a little hotter and give them a try. Accuracy was very good, varying from 1/4" to 3/4" at 100 yards for 3 rounds.
Long range competition is a ton of fun and you don’t have to sink a ton of money on a rig like this to be competitive. The first match I won I was shooting a stock Rem 700 .308 with a $300 SWFA SS scope. There should be some matches reasonably close to you, probably more than here. When I started the closest matches were 8 hours away each direction, and I shot 1 or 2 per year. Now it’s a lot more popular, but I still drive at least 3 hours each way to most long range matches. It’s worth it though, and the people at most matches are some of the best people I know.
Little range action with the Glock 41. 10 yds here. Went with my GF. She blasted away at a Zombie with her 19.

Is that a SS scope?
edit: do’h. I see on your next post you mention shooting with a SWFA SS.
Good eye, it’s a 10x SS. They’re my go-to scope if I don’t need high dollar glass (usually don’t!). Here’s a 12x on a bolt rifle, I set the factory barrel back and rechambered to .223 Ackley Improved. My son is fireforming some brass for me.

I have a 6 power model on my M14. Actually it’s a James River Armory M21 DMR, but most don’t know what an M21 is, few enough even know what the M14 is. I’ve been hunting with it, it’s a great scope! I’ll probably get a higher power model for long range, if I can ever find a place around here to shoot long range.

Is that a kit or did you piece together materials?

I bought the materials separately. The tek lok was $10 and the kydex was about $4 and just bought some cheap screws from Home Depot.
