yeah all of us old guys that work in rough areas are idiots. but we carry.

i believe i was replying to pittbull’s freedom of assembly with sarcasm. however is my city the only one you can drive around town at all hours and see only african americans in great numbers? they disappear at sunrise so they must have somewhere they can go at night as well. i guess they are just getting their cardio in.

be fair. call jessie jackson an idiot and a racist too. here’s his comment:

“There is nothing more painful to me… than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery, then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”

actual quote.

what are you some kind of comedian? and they are not friends they’re co-workers and at age 51 if i didn’t think they had my back i wouldn’t work with them. my friends are retired and fear for their grandchildren and great grandchildren. and they think jessie, al and obama are complete assholes.

now go jack off or do what it is you do so well.

Coupled with a picture of black people looting is what makes you an idiot. Whether it wad in jest or not is irrelevant.

Jessie Jackson, who I think is also an idiot, wasn’t even in the conversation. Why would I bring him up?

Conservativedog, you are the reason real conservatives get such a bad rap.

More accurately, the reason democrats get so many votes

i always thought the idea of weight lifters and body builders as meatheads was a stereotype, then i read posts from SOME of you guys.

i will repeat YOU HAVE NO IDEA about sarcasm in humor. besides i say again it was focused narrowly on pittbull.

there are blacks that say the same thing about other blacks. chris rock comes to mind and also a slew of young black comedians. of course the reason i brought jessie jackson into the so called “racist situation” here, is because he made a quote that is well known among older americans. if they believe it and say it, there is no reason i can’t and i did. to do and think otherwise IS RACIST. it is the whole point of equality.

so i guess that means you two are meatheads. that comment for you both is serious, not sarcasm.

you have a different sense of humor because of the times we live in. i am sorry you are so fearful some subjects will reflect poorly on you. being silent instead of standing up for your equal right of free speech is a tightrope walk.

i caused no one danger, nor did i say whites are better than blacks.

next they will convince some of you not to speak up against homosexuality. i’m sorry that has already happened.

some of you choose popularity over the right thing.

This is spot on. You kick the nutjobs out and conservatives have a much better chance of getting elected. If Democrats can just say people like conservativedog are the face of the Republican party no one would ever vote for them. EZ game.

Crazy conservatives are the ONLY reason Claire McCaskill still has a job. I do a lot of work in Missouri and I’m telling you EVERYONE was ready to kick her out. Then nutjob runs against her and bam, suddenly everyone said Claire sucks but this guys insane

you just wrote yesterday you were putting me on your ignore list and advised others to do same. you have said same since 2012. is that woman logic?

your word is golden. like urine.

now to the relevant point of why conservatives do not get elected.

the majority of voters in the u.s. have been convinced that republicans are no better than democrats but the democrats will give them free stuff.

majority of women vote democrat.

majority of hispanics vote democrat.

nearly 96% of blacks vote democrat.

after obama blacks will still vote for whatever democrat and in the high 90% range. boehner has pushed voting on the immigration bill until 2014 primary-election filings are over. obviously it will pass. if the republicans ever get another president in with these added hispanics voting it will be a miracle.

this is why i am pro 2nd amendment. like all liberal sanctified issues aborting babies, pro homosexuality, pro drug legalization, class warfare… they will convince this new voting majority it is the RIGHT THING to do. the 2nd amendment will fall.

how do i know? because the Bible tells me so.

“So fearful of a subject” that is, again, hilarious. I guess you didn’t read any of the Trayvon Martin threads where I went back and forth with our resident Ninja…

I live in one of the most highly oppressive gun right states in the Union, and I can tell you, this “law” you speak of here, isn’t at all, in anyway, shape or form, a law.

There is no requirement that an individual be 21, not even remotely close.

Correct.

They get elected by how believable their bullshit is.

Our governor quoted the Bible to justify raising taxes, in the same breath signed laws expanding abortion.

Yet the stenographers (aka reporters) just let him off the hook with no effort to point out the STUNNING level of utter bullshit displayed.

Oh poo on all of you. One major reasons for gun control is to drop the murder rate. However, if you take out the 5 cities in the US with the highest murder rate, then the per capita murder (for the adjusted population) is about on par with every other country or less. Most murders occur now in very small geographical areas and are crime (mostly drug) related. Most (99+%) citizens are not even remotely in the criminal demographic.

The major argument for owning a gun is that any criminal knows that they have a window of opportunity, typically 10 - 15 minutes of quality time with a victim until help arrives. Victims that are unarmed are much easier to handle. The major reason not to allow the government to regulate it the way it does is that it gets it wrong. Regulating owning a gun the way it is done means that if you have one and some violation occurs then you are on par with the worst murdered and are treated accordingly.

One lawyer friend of mine relates that his client, a small oriental woman, was threatened by her much larger boyfriend (they are both 40-ish). She pointed a gun at him to chase him away. Problem is that in California she tripped over the threatening with a firearm law and even though everyone agreed she would have been beaten or murdered otherwise, got something like 10 years which is the minimum. The jury apologized but found her guilty and the judge had no choice. Great career move for the DA though. This is how laws are applied in the US.

Another case was a guy who was a victim of road rage. He outran the bad guy who later tracked him to his home. Bad guy tells him how he’s going to beat the *&%% out of him and his wife etc., and the guy threatens to shoot him if he doesn’t leave. Bad guy calls the cops. Now the guy is looking at 3 - 5 years for threatening with a firearm (Colorado this time) since he owns one. The gun was in the house, locked in a safe and never touched. What would you have done? The bad guy was almost literally foaming at the mouth at his front door.

Getting the idea? The issue is not just guns it is the way that ownership is being criminalized that does not recognize need. It is a moral crusade much like Prohibition – which was loudly marketed as the definitive way to drop the US murder rate of 5 per 100,000 ca. 1910. (Statistics showed alcohol was sometimes involved in murder.) By the 10 year mark the US murder rate more than doubled to 11 per 100,000 precisely because laws caused alcohol sales to criminalize. The Mafia went from being a small organization relegated to Italian communities to being the first international crime organization in history. Yes, this is a classic example of a set of laws that had almost the completely opposite effect, i.e., Prohibition was a criminogenic law, intentional or not. Gun laws are heading the same way.

As always, I’m just full of shit…

I’m full of shit as well jj (aren’t we all), but I thoroughly enjoyed your thoughts and you had great examples. Post more in PWI please  Absolutely loved your thoughts on comparing it to Prohibition and the unintended consequences. I have never thought about it in that manner.

Great post, but why do you keep using past tense when you refer to prohibition? You seem to assume laws are created to reduce crime. What if they are just a clever ruse which is used to convince people to lock the shackles on themselves? What if Master’s real goal is to imprison ever MORE and MORE people, and it has nothing to do with reducing crime?

I don’t know if slavery(100% real slavery) has ever before been accepted without an initial fight, but we’re headed that way. The fact that a decent number of people own weapons in this country is the only thing preventing our total enslavement. Of course, we already accept all sorts of regulations on firearm ownership in this country(pay tribute to Master in order to legally own a selective fire firearm, those convicted of an ever-growing list of rules called felonies aren’t allowed to possess firearms, etc.), so it’s probably just a matter of time.
