I’m surviving… not a big fan of the holidays.

I feel that will be eternally inevitable at least to a small degree

Back bit funky the whole day before the workout but was fine during and is actually feeling better afterwards.

Did some comp bench and pause high bar squats today. Aside some skimping on the pause squats it was a solid session.

Bit of fun supporting a friend in maxing out deadlifts. Hit 125kg pretty clean.

Just gonna keep building in the gym and see how the back goes. Physio booked in for week after next but by then symptoms may be gone completely.

Still nursing the back. This week have dropped volume and paid attention to see if any movements in particularly flare up the back as well as total workload. I have my eyes on high bar pauses and deficit stiff leg RDLs as contributors. Fortunately looks like I can continue progressing overall still

Hit cruisy deadlift rep PB today 240kg x 8. Actually lost count like few reps in so did too many reps and undershot RPE vs what I was meant to hit on the program. Soz coachbrah

Bendigo Barbell Club News:

Have sold off one of the deadlift bars in the garage to a local gym, McQuinns gym. This is to raise funds to upgrade the garage gym.

A fairly large powerlifting gym in the city has closed recently and are liquidating all their equipment, auctioning it off. The boiz and I have combined our funds and are looking at one of the Texas Deadlift Bars available and maybe a proper deadlift platform. Both would be very useful for me because the TDB is used in comps and I have trouble hook gripping it consistently so need the practice.

Unfortunately given the state of the equipment market and the general desirability of these items for powerlifters may end up overpaying a bit.

That’s cause all the equipment is in your garage gym.
The Melbourne crew @simo74 need to get a session in, you could teach us all his to properly pull sumo

So ur saying I should snap up all three TDBs…

Monday arvo at Iron Revolution. Ditch work acquire secrets to sumo.

I haven’t seen a vid of u pulling sumo but if have or can develop the hip mobility for it than ur long lanky levers will be maximised

Decent SBD sesh today at Iron Revolution. Back feels aight. Better post sesh with exercise induced analgesia.

PBs:

167.5kg x 6 squat (gonna be sandbagging for weeks lel but IDGAF it’s all overloading stimulus)

250kg x 4 pause sumo deadlifts (hardest set of pauses I’ve ever done but solid. More to come apparently)

Those looked absurd. In a good way. You damn stumpy cheater.

(I wouldn’t be able to do it even with all that cheating)

Sometimes I really wonder why do you even bother asking for spotters

Straps improve my positioning a smidge if that makes u feel any better. Bit of stretching goes a long way who knows what u can achieve

For an audience hehe. Don’t spot me. Watch me

It doesn not make me feel any better. Although I did buy a pair of good figure 8 straps half a year ago on your advice, and I like them a lot.

Ok lel

Ye the figure 8s are great. For my purposes they are better in every way. I lost a pair of mine recently and had to pull with lasso straps for a few sessions and it really made me miss the figure 8s. Reordered em ASAP

Schedule worked out so could actually go in and sus out stuff we may be bidding on in the auction:

Texas Deadlift Bars need a decent brush but platforms looking pretty sexy hehe lot number 69… nice

Met the owner. Surprisingly he told me most things didn’t have a reserve price so it’s open season if there’s any bargains close to time

Bit of high bar pause squat today. Wasn’t nice on lower back. It’s some combination of the demands of this specific movement probs + driving a bit beforehand maybe.

Was feeling a small tweak in the bottom of every rep so kept the reps down and got in bit of work with 150kg 2x6 and moved on. Again the theme is still being able to be productive but needing to manage

By the end of the session the back wasn’t really flared up but we’ll see how things go in a few hours and tomoz.

Got the physio booked in for late next week and he specialises in powerlifters so should be lot of help there. Will just keep managing it for the moment

Fuck the prices have shot up on these! Fair few punters must be keen on them.
It’s crazy the price of gym gear with this covid mess, it’s settled down a bit here now, but at the start when gyms closed old rusty iron was going for $10 per kg.

So far it’s seems that no one really wants a squat bar that bad but for everything else is pretty fierce.

Apparently no one imports these anymore so very hard to get them in Oz and expensive.

We want a Texas Deadlift Bar at least and will probs end up overpaying but that’s how it goes

On the bright side calibrated Ivankos are going for like 250 which is right on half of full price for em new
