Is that your defence against drop bears?

All animals fear the jacked guinea pig. Snakes can sense the lumbering footsteps through the ground so know to flee

Bench - Light

On the way out of Bendigo back to Melbourne dropped by McQuinns Gym for a light bench day. It’s a great gym. Really good people. I’m proud to support them. Pretty much the owner let me run wild around the place in flip flops / barefoot spraying chalk everywhere so that’s how u earn guineapig’s loyalty I guess

Felt pretty good for a light day. Hit some triples on bench and some work on DB Press. Bit unstable feeling but solid top set @ 45kg / 100 lbs x reps. Working my way back up to the big boi DB rack at McQuinns which starts @ 47.5kg.

Made decent gains with DB pressing pre lockdown that carryovers to comp bench so hopefully can get that streak going again. I’m cautiously optimistic for some reason and it’s not the tren lol

You are moving those 45s like they are nothing. Surely 47.5 is no problem #strongpig

Ima take it slow I think. The sharpness of the movement isn’t quite back yet I think but no rush. But soon. I’ll assert piggy dominance.

Victoria, my state in Australia is locking down again in the metro regions. All my home gym impulse buying doesn’t seem so bad anymore

Did na feel good today for heavy deads. Slow top set meme deadlifts @ 240kg. I think calibrated plate deadlifting actually takes away from the meme deadlift top end strength but is a necessary sacrifice for now.

Accessory work to follow up. Weights chins were interesting working up to +25kg for 5 reps. I’m a ways off my best like +55kg but I’m also heavier than ever so it’s aight.

Yep sad to say we are going back into lock down and probably another term of home schooling. I am worrying about my sanity already !!

Good luck lol.

Bench Hevy / Squat Light

Worked up to a straightforward beltless pause single @ 145kg and my knee was bothering me a bit so left it there for light squats.

Overshot a bit on bench but wanted an extra rep @ 120kg for a rep PR x6. Bench is feeling bit better in recent weeks than past few months so maybe picking up some steam again to hit three plates and beyond.

Followed up with some overhead press work. Still steadily building this up so dunno where it’ll end up but hopefully with some PBs.

Your form is so good that it looked like you had several more reps there. If your BP is around 80 like you mentioned before, you look to be more or less on it already.

Maybe. OHP is a bit finicky near max. There’s the hard sticking point about midway. To get through that speed and power are more beneficial vs SBD where u can grind through more effectively. So straight repping capacity needs to be put through a strength/rate of force development block to potentiate max OHP gains nomsayin.

Yeah, I think the curve for progressing OHP is steeper than all the other main lifts. Smaller/fewer muscles involved, absurd ROM. Just saying that you looked to have at lest 10 reps at that weight, which theoretically gets you in the neighborhood of your PR, nomsayin.
