Best ur gonna get is some deficit Romanians/stiff leg deficit deads. Big ROM big demands on the posterior chain so good assistance to build up on. Could hit a YOLO max on conventional sometime but is for peasants so dunno if I’d sink that low.

Is your reason for sumo that you are stronger at that lift ??

Pretty much. I started lifting with exclusively conventional up to a bit over 4 plates. Started pulling sumo and it was behind for while but caught up quick and surpassed conventional. Trained sumo as primary ever since but conventional has never been far behind maybe 20kg less.

Gap may have widened a bit since the back injury because I’ve hit less conventional than ever before and sumo proficiency is at all time high. Carryover is good between them because is just hip strength at the end of the day.

That’s experience wise but reasoning wise I think a proficient sumo is stronger for most people than a conventional deadlift. If someone has good leverages for conventional could be about the same though.

Is your plan to start competing, hence the need for highest numbers or do you also think sumo offers best overall benefit for strength training

Lifting heavy is fun. I think it’s only a matter of time before I hit up a comp because back is going good.

Goals wise lifting heavy is fun but it’s always been to get jacked af in the upper body.

Powerlifting style training has beefed me up quite a bit to be fair but I just want juicy delts and pecs like dem guys I thought were natty when I started lifting.

Mostly been gains in my legs and butt but honestly I don’t care for how my lower body looks as much as getting bigger to lift bigger. So lower body is for powerlifting and upper body is for aesthetics. To be honest I’ve lost sight of the aesthetics goals a bit I have.

Notice I didn’t mention function lol. I had plenty of functional strength ages ago and not really something I care for. That being said sumo has decent utility for functional strength/ability just ask Matt Wenning.

Deload things. Not lol hit bench PR

Bit of lower body work felt shit and was meant to hit some upper body pump stuff to reconnect with my inner bodybuilder/ Zyzz / aesthetics brah.

Ended up YOLOing a new bench max @ 130kg / 285lb (+10kg PR) which was then stolen near the top by my girlfriend but I’ll take it still.

Hit 125kg beforehand for a 5kg PB. Road to three biscuits ain’t dead yet.

Lol what was with that spot, was it also her arm day ?

Gon stick with close-ish medium grip I think. I’ve been all over the place grip width wise past few months.

My previous PRs were ring finger on ring but wider grip bench has been inconsistent and injurious at best.

Haven’t had a chance to max on closer grip bench until past few weeks and has been sustainable and hit heavier benches than ever before.

Light deadlifts and bench press today. Shitty deadlifting but bench went well with a PB Triple @ 120kg with more in the tank and long pauses. Bench is going well just going to ride the wave of gains.

Squats and deadlift gonna pull back intensity and hit some volume.

Good lol. Putting my back injury behind me now and looking to get bigger and stronger. Recent best sets is 395 x 4 squat, 285 Binch and 505x2 deadlift with more in the tank on em so it’s getting there

Mixed bag today.

Good sesh that Id have been happy with even fresh but is even better considering I moved stones in the morning. Bunch of PBs:

Back Squat: 170kg x 3
TnG Bench: 120kg x 5
DB Bench: 42.5kg x reps
Hack Squat: 7 Biscuits

On the flip side my phone got knocked over by some kid and its screen is proper dead (so no vids for now gonna get a repair quote tomoz) and had a coughing fit which caused a vomit fit lol.

Great sesh all things considered but I think this is one of times it wouldve been more sensible to take it easy. Manual labour beforehand and throwing up me pre workout fluids and fruit and dehydration/sweating on a hot day = probs shouldve taken it easy. Gotta keep working on the discipline in this aspect.

Will see if I can get some vids up with some techno wizardry.
