I doubt that it’s true. When I looked into the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the event on which it was based turned out to be some guy that killed a lady he knew to have sex with her body and save the parts. Weird, but nothing even close to a family of lunatics that kills everyone in sight. The writer got the idea of “chainsaw” from seeing one at a store when he was writing the story.
Basically it had nothing to do with anything, which I’m assumig is the same basis of Hostel.
