…hmm, i don’t think i meant to write exactly that T, so don’t get your hopes up, lol…
Ohhhh, my hopes are always up my friend. I prayed for you for quite a while just this morning during my pre-dawn walk with God and my dog. Sloth too. And Pat and Brother Chris and Katzenjammer and Push and Mike and Cockney Blue and FightingIrish and Cappednplanit (however he spells that), but this morning you and AlisaV got the most attention. Other times it’s somebody else. It depends on how the Spirit leads (I don’t pray the same things for all of these folks btw)
Would it kill ya to download and listen my pastor? I watched your movie didn’t I? I even watched Religulous on Mike’s recommendation though I owned it already. I have no illusions about your response, but I am interested.
…i’m sure it made you feel all warm and tingly inside, but what the hell; i’ll listen to your pastor. Just give me something to download thumbs-up
It doesn’t make me feel any particualr way. People prayed and do pray for me. Like I told you a while back I cannot help but love somebody I’m praying for.
ephrem wrote:<<< …so it’s all about the pay-off then?
It’s all about grateful obedience and hoping the same gracious gifts upon others that have been so freely lavished upon yourself. It’s all about recognizing that Jesus took a man whose life 's mission was to kill Christians and destroy the early church, a man who was on his way to do that very thing, and transform him from Saul of Tarsus to Paul the apostle whose majestic writings became the majority of the New Testament.
None of you people here are anything like a tough case for God. When he saves someone by loving grace he delights in that same grace being shed abroad in their hearts by them fervently desiring that those who are yet dead in sin and enemies of the most high God may be made alive together with themselves in Christ. Yes, as Zeb says there are rewards in heaven, but the “payoff” has already been made and I did not make it.
The link is above, but here it is again. http://gregnmary.gotdns.com:8080/forum1/host/brooks103.mp3 Like I say, his name is Chris, he’s 33 and has a passion to see the resurrection of the city of Detroit that oozes from every pore of his body. I’m off on todays morning walk.
…i’m listening to it right now. He already affirmed to the congregation that they’re more special for listening to his preachings than other church goers [parishoners]. He goes on to diminish science in favor of god… let’s continue…
…T, now he’s making clear distinctions between his parish and Jews [science], Greeks [wisdom] and asks, “what are you?” Racist? I think so… let’s continue…
…mass-brainwashing. Why do you listen to this guy? He goes on and on how god’s message can only come to you through the pulpit, through the preachers. He’s setting himself up in a place of power, a place of influence and knowledge only he has acces to. He’s making himself god by proxy. Why do you listen to this guy? Let’s continue…
…“revival or churchhistory does not know revival except through preachers of the bible (…)”…
…okay, i’m 25 minutes in and i don’t know if i can listen to him screaming any longer. He’s a demagogue, T. He’s using emotion to elicit a respons from his parish that is his own, not theirs. By doing so he’s cementing his position within the parish as a leader, a man you look up to. And by doing so you’re abdicating yourself to him, to a person; not god…
…thank you for having me listen to him T, it confirmed how i feel about this kind of evangelising, and altough it helped you out of your misery; it will never be my cup of tea…
