Yeah, Stalin thought the same.
And Stalin’s response was to create his own state religion. Not really solving the problem there.
Godless…disbelief in a diety. Hrm…hmmm…yeah, atheistic.
Stalinism is a politcal-economic system, not a religion
Original post claims religion will solve racism. I say it won’t, but at the same time I don’t claim atheism is a solution. You post saying atheism isn’t a solution?
I wonder how the situation in Israel would pan out if Judaism and Islam had never been invented. I wonder how Stalin would have gained support if he had no religion to rail against. I wonder how Hitler would have gained support if there was no Christianity to spread antisemitism… but then again, with no religion, there would be no Jews to persecute.

They’d be fighting over something else. Humanity fights for control over resources (including land), period. Living space being a major example. Using exaggeration to make the point, the entire world can’t live within the borders of Israel.
As for Christianity. Wrongs can certainly be committed IN THE NAME of Christianity, but those aren’t Christian acts.
Wrongs can be done in atheism’s name and…well, atheism is neutral. Those acts can still be the acts of a correctly practicing atheist. Like the Society of the Godless.

Yes, I am saying that if everybody (which they never will be) were like the people I know there would be no racism. Or put in numerically relative terms, racism would be reduced in direct proportion to the ascendancy of the true gospel of Christ. There would also be no self righteous condemnation of others, but there does not exist in human linguistics a means by which that truth will make it from my mind to Ephrem's intact.

Yeah, me and the people I know too. No organized religion needed. Have a nice day. At least you have the consolation prize of picking the only true and right one!

hmmm…I thought the jews were the “chosen ones”? and the mormons? and the sikhs"
atheists have the same odds of “picking the winner” I suppose but I find it kind of sad that people don’t at least believe there is something greater out there, shit believe in the force before you believe there is no greater entity

GUARANTEED CURE FOR RACISM
I’m not talking about religious practice. I’m talking about being born again from fully dead to fully alive by the power of the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave 2000 years ago. You and most others will no doubt sneeringly snicker that away as the uneducated blitherings of a self deluded religious fanatic, but that’s ok. I can live with that. I was in church today in the heart of the most violent racially divided city in this nation surrounded by mostly black Christians, but there are white, hispanic, far eastern and ARABIC members as well. You’d have to probably witness it to understand, but nobody there actually even notices what color anybody else is.
The very first time we showed up there they treated us like family despite the fact they’d never laid eyes on us before and we are white as the wind driven snow. Now follow along. WHAT IF more people believed the same thing.
Wanna hear sumthin funny? Tonight I went to one of my customer’s baptist church. A sweet old lady I’ve known for a few years now and a serious Christian. My church doesn’t have Sunday night services. She invited me so I went. This church is in Livonia which is a fairly affluent almost totally white western burb one town over in the opposite direction from Detroit. (the message was right on)
Nobody was in any way unkind to me, but I could sense the apprehension. I am pretty big, jail house tattoos, including my knuckles, bald with a beard. I guess I look somewhat intimidating to them. Some of them weren’t sure what to make of me. Here is an all white church in the suburbs that is a bit spooked by somebody who looks like me, but a ghetto church that’s 90% black treats me like I’m engaged to one of their daughter’s.
Here is the sermon from my black pastor this morning. A man who worships like a pentecostal with the utterly rock solid theology of a presbyterian LOL! A positively splendid (and unheard of) state of affairs. He has every intention of seeing the sovereign God almighty subdue and transform the city of Detroit for His Son. I think I believe with him. Consider it a socio/cultural study resource =]. His name is Christopher Brooks. He’s 33 years old. http://gregnmary.gotdns.com:8080/forum1/host/brooks103.mp3

Why?
why sad I’m presuming? I don’t know I guess I’ve never hiked to the top of a mountain or seen an amazing spectacle of nature and not thought “Yep there is no God”
