That’s worth posting twice…
It is my understanding that most bodybuilder-style trainees are good for 2% per rep. So if you max at 100% (by definition your max) then 20% less (or 80%) you should be good for 10 reps. (there are ten 2%'s within 20%)
For powerlifters who have highly trained CNS the rule of thumb is 2.5% per rep. So if the lifter did 80% of his max, he should get 8 reps. (there are eight 2.5%'s within 20%)
This rule of thumb progressively degrades as reps increase above 10 reps.
I guess I have to explain what I mean by , how to build muscle fluctuates with wind . By that I mean every new trainer , so called expert and or study says their way is the best way.

Let’s please not go into how Bruce Randall turned fat into muscle , we argued about that insanity long before some folks on here were born, ha ha!
Scott
He didn’t. It’s why I wrote that he cut down.
Yeah, I get that. I just look at these things as conditional. There are a lot of conditions - age, athletic background, daily activity, personal stress load, etc.
Way too many for anybody to have a one size fits all “best”.
Whats “best” for me is likely of no value or interest to someone else with different goals and conditions.
Then there are the red flags. Build 10 lbs. Of muscle Fast and Easy!
Or New Secret method of the DeltaSeal ninja assassins!
Adaptation further confuses the issue.
If you found the best workout, within 3 to 6 weeks it would no longer be the best workout for you.
Yea arms as big as your thighs in 10 days etc etc. of course some guys have stick legs , ha ha!

Seriously though if you’ve been on these forums 1/2 of the time I have you know we’ve discussed sets, reps, frequency, HIT vrs volume squats vrs leg press and just about everything else to do with building muscle but how to determine if you’ve recovered from your workout . I know there’s no simple answer but one is hiding out there somewhere waiting to be brought forth! Be the one that puts all the guess work aside , duh, gee I think I’m recovered?? and make a name for yourself!!
Scott
So just for clarification allot of your questions you post are just rhetorical in nature to spark discussion?
Yes

Just wondering… I’ve been on here way too long that I have become jaded.
