I was looking into getting a tub of Grow! and I notice that it’s only avaible in “natural” flavor. How is the taste? Can someone compare it to anything?
It smells a little like vanilla, but it doesn’t really taste like anything. I’ve been thinking of mixing that with Metabolic Drive to get some flavor while keeping costs down. You can use something like Crystal Light or sugar free Jello too.
It tastes like nothing, literally nothing. Water it down enough and you are drinking water. I drink mine with gatorade(or some other carbs) PWO so it just takes on the taste.
Metabolic Drive is the (not so)new name for Grow!
Not bad, not great, but not bad.
I think there is a taste but I can’t describe it. It isn’t unpleasant but I prefer to use some sort of flavoring with it. Often, some kefir or a few drops of flavoring from baker’s oils works well.
There are times that I will blend it with some blueberries or other fruit and that also works. Or, as mentioned, some crystal light or even some Metabolic Drive.

I didn’t like it and traded it for some Metabolic Drive (low carb) with someone on T-Nation.
The big tub of Grow! also doesn’t have micellar caesin in it.
it’s kind of like a bland vanilla… but it’s certainly not bad.
i mix mine with ice, water, 1 tsp of natural peanut butter, and a squirt of sugar free chocolate syrup.
blend it up and drink it down…
makes a good evening treat…
It’s just straight whey.
I like it because it is very flexable.
If you want it to taste like something else, you just add that ingredient.
Some favorites:
Chocolate
Chocolate mint
Chocolate strawberry
Strawberry
strawberry banana
strawberry kiwi
pumpkin spice
And as soon as I find a god one for coconut, it’s going on the list. Might have to resort to Turani syrup for that one.

Actually, Grow! Premium Quality Whey is still the name of this product.

This is why it’s known as Grow! Premium Quality Whey.

Metabolic Drive is formerly low-carb Grow!, but the “new” Grow! is just straight whey.
The flavor, in my opinion, is actually really good and versatile. It has a “creme” taste to it, so you can throw it in just about anything and add the word creme to it.
Orange juice + Grow! = Orange Creme
Gatorade + Grow! = Poormans Surge
Milk + Grow! = Super milk creme
the only draw back is that it usues a 90cc scoop instead of a 70cc scoop, so you get 48 servings instead of a typical 75 or so with a 5lb tub. But it does taste great.
I know, I responded the first time w/o reading closely.
I have purchased the product and used it. It was okay. Probably my only complaint was the powder doesn’t shake up as nicely as the Metabolic Drive does. A little chunky at times.
I use the hell out of it and what it taste like to me is powdered coffee creamer, damn near exactly. very versatile can use with sweet and non sweet things or slam it down plain.

There seems to be three sides to this issue. Those who like it, those who tolerate it, and those (like myself) who think it ruins any taste it comes in contact with.
To the OP, I recommend you try it and see which camp you fall in.
It has a slight cream taste to it, which is what TC or Tim claimed in the original article about it.
Tastes great mixed with milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, and even oatmeal.
Well, I still can’t decide if I really want to get some or not…I’m broke and hate to spend 30 bucks on some protein that I won’t be able to tolerate.
Seconded, Metabolic Drive tastes 20x better. Grow! just has very little taste. It’s like milk watered down with sugar added.

This is part of the reason why Metabolic Drive proteins cost more-- they have a more complex flavoring system.
Grow! Premium Quality Whey has a light, sweet cream taste that mixes well with other liquids and foods. It’s quite versatile and it’s lower price make it great for those on a tight budget.
Now, if you can afford the higher per serving cost and want a protein supplement that you just mix with water that tastes awesome, go with one of the Metabolic Drive products. There isn’t a higher quality protein supplement available.
