Grow! Bars?

$2.oo-$2.50.

I’m in. Between the wife and myself, we’ve got a 90+ bar/month habit so there is profit potential in this customer.

Almost any chocolate variation is good for me. On my wife’s behalf vanilla and/or strawberry would be a nice touch.

As for price, like most people here, we are paying more for less with these other bars so I guess that’s my way of saying the pricing is more than fair.

  1. Minimum production runs are extremely high, and unless T-Nation supports the bar, they’d to stale before we could turn the inventory.

I think it os obvious we would support the bar. Like it was said earlier, bars are a staple now, and we are tired of over priced low quality bars.

  1. What style and flavor(s) do we make? One thing’s for certain, the feedback on the topic has been indecisive.

I think the feedback has been indecisive because there are such wildly varying tastes out there. Make one chocolate variation and one fruity variation and 90% of the people will be happy. There will always be the 10% who want bananna-mayo-pickle-coconut or beef-jerkey flavors.

  1. Price. We only produce the best, and the best cost about 95 cents a bar (including shipping and packaging) – this is our cost. Will T-Nation pay for a quality bar?

Of course we will. Look at the way the products are flying off the shelves on the website. Again, most of us would love to have a quick and easy source of high quality proteins and good carbs. Grow! is a great start, but most of us are lazy or short on time and would love a bar version of Grow!.

I’d pay upwards of $1.50 per bar. I like the idea of 24 bars per box as I would buy four of the 12 count boxes when they were available. As for flavors, I must say I was surprised by how much I liked the lemon.

$2 would be ideal. If you think about it, most bars are between 20 - 40grams protien…not to mention the sugar most use to taste decent. A serving of LC Grow comes out to be .72 cents. so you’d pay .60 cents extra for the convience of a “portable shake.”

I don’t know what your acceptable profit margins are on other products sold only on T-Nation, but it seems that a 50% markup is more than reasonable, so I would pay $1.50 a bar, directly from the website…

I think the $2 a bar idea is good, certainly Biotest can’t expect more than 100% profit, I know I don’t get anywhere near that in my business. (15-20 for me) Plus I think a slightly lower profit margin would be expecteBiotest in keeping the product rolling off the shelves. Maybe $1.75-$1.80 for bulk orders? I also like the idea of a chocolate and a fruit flavor. Blueberry and strawberry seem to be the easiest to make taste good as far as fruit flavors go. (at least in other artificially flavored food items, these always seem to come out closer to the actual flavor than others. Here is what my ideal bars would be. Chocolate, Chocolate coated strawberry, and Vanilla Yogurt coated Blueberry. Yummy!

Honestly, I think Grow bars are a bad idea. Regardless of the positive feedback right now, no one is having to, “put their money where their mouth is.” Although a silly cliche, it’s absolutely right. When it comes down to it, if you can only spend X dollars on X amount of supplements, the important ones (Surge, LC Grow) are of a significantly higher priority. When it comes to, “go time,” most of the people begging for the bar will be saying that it’s too expensive to purchase.

I would like something plain or vanilla covered for those of use who can’t eat/stand chocolate. The original Metrx(before they loaded it with sugar) and the HotStuff bars didn’t have a coating. Some oatmeal bars on the market today, although of low quality, are uncoated. I would pay $1.50-2.00 per bar. The 25 per case is a great idea. Shakes are great, but sometimes you want the chewing sensation to really satisfy you.

I currently pay about 1.65 for myoplex delux bars, with the discount at GNC. I think they taste pretty good. I would be willing to pay a comparable price for a comparable product.

A quality product will sell itself. Too many frufru bars are out there right now and people are looking for a real “food” bar w/o all of the additives (collagen).

Flavor:
Peanut butter and banana
Peanut butter and chocholate chip

I would eat about two a day… at 1.50 a piece.

Hell yeah. That’s a lot cheaper than anything else around where I am. And I don’t care much about the flavor, as long as it doesn’t taste bad.

Yes, I bet there a ton of people out there who would dive at the chance to get a bar made out of actual FOOD and not just a bunch of chemicals derivatives(collagen, sugar alcohols out the ass, shitty partially hydrogenated oils)

Wow !

This is GREAT news on the new Methoxy 7. It has always been a great supp, and now will apparently be even better. The liquid bottles have been increasingly hard to find online.

Hell, last month I imported some from Cananda.

As far as the bars go. I’ve only ever bought one brand of protein bar- Grow. When it was discontinued, I quit eating bars. I bought them before at a cost of $20 for a box of 12, and would do this again. Why re-invent the wheel? I believe peanut butter - chocolate was the best seller before, stick with it.

$2.00 a bar would be spectacular.

Put it in perspective…

If you can eat a grow bar with some nuts for around $2.00 you are getting a quality portable meal, which is a hell of a lot better than anywhere you can eat out.

I’m in.

Chocolate/Peanut butter or some variation of that would be stellar.

I hate to sound like a sheep in the T-crowd, but I must also say, bring the Grow bars back. I had e-mailed the staff probably a year ago about not finding them anywhere. Seems that the masses want the “candy-esque” protien bars (if you can call them that)and the quality Biotest bars just couldn’t compete. But, personally, I’d take the Grow bars over any of the availible crap. Love the lemon! So, please, bring 'em back. You’ll definitely have the irondok’s support.

I would like to see Grow bars return. The lemon ones were less than stellar. Anything is good with chocolate on it

I would buy the bars also. Anything chocolate would work. The 25 per box is also a good idea. It might help your inventory/small run problems.
