What cardio plan did shelby have you following?
when i started with him 11 weeks out we were doing 45 mins, after a while we went to 60 mins, for the last stretch about 90 mins. he told me the keep the heart rate around 130 bpm most of the time.
And that’s 7 days a week?

it was–i got as much of it done in the morning as possible

doing 45 mins felt great
60 mins wasnt so bad either

90 mins/day sucked ass hahaha

it was really hard on my feet/legs- shin splits, blisters, locked up hips, swollen feet

next time i compete whoever i work will have to understand that i will not do more than an hr of cardio a day.

thanks dude! I entered a comp in October after a mate called me out. I’m pretty fat now so planning to do 60min a day in a separate session to lifting to cut my lardarse quicker

Grind, are you planning to compete again? And if so, what will you do different?

I know you competed in the weight class above your target one. How do you think you would have done in the weight class you anticipated (Being natural, aside from the water retention)?

well its hard to say, if ididnt have problems with the water i could of been a lot more competitive in the middle weights- possibly good enough to make first call out, but its hard to say. at the show the guy who won the overall was actually a middleweight himself (he seriously looked like a mini phil heath). on the monday after the show i went to the docs office and he gave me a diuretic to help get the water out- on the following tuesday i was 180.5 lbs (the middle weight cut off was 180) despite spilling over a bit from eating whatever i wanted i looked pretty crazy. this was very frustating as i weighed in at 185 lbs—my estimation was that if i had been very dry i would of been on stage at around 175. for whatever reason, shelbys peaking protocol did not work for me- the monday before the show when i started pounding the all the spring water with high sodium- i started to hold TONS of water- i think i was up over 190lbs at one point—i had no idea what was going on.

so to get back to your first question, what would i do differently…

well number 1 would be- position myself to be able to get in shape easier. i dont have a show planned to do right now, but i DO want to compete again. when i do compete again- i dont want to have drop more than25 lbs to be in shape- and ill give myself 16 weeks to do that. rather than have to drop 40 lbs in 18 weeks. on top of that id like a much more conservative approach peaking (water/sodium), and also CUT CARDIO out 10 days before the show.

another burning question in my mind is weather i want to keep competing naturally or not. like i said in slohs thread there are really no tested shows in my part of canada- however ive never used any sort of illegal drug in my life so itseems weird to start now.

Congrats! btw it has probably been said but crazy waist to shoulder ratio, looks sickkkkk
