Do you guys have any recomendations for brands of greens powders? They really sound like something I would like to incorperate on days I’m pressed for time.
Doctor’s for Nutrition makes one called Green’s First. It is a quality product and it has the added benefit of not tasting like ass or firing off the ol’ gag reflex.
I don’t know if it is widely available or only through healthcare prof.
Ryan
Udo’s Choice Beyond Greens
Thanks guys.
Dr. Ryan, I’ll investigate that brand. I actually have a friend whom works at a facility that produces supplements for healthcare profs.
Try blending spinach with cottage cheese and water and chugging it.
How about the GNC one? The nutrition info for it is up on their web site, maybe someone who knows more about it that I can investigate it’s worth.
I think the advantage of the GNC is that it’s more widely available.
I’m not so sure it tastes like ass, at least not my girlfriends, but I try to be careful about her diet…
(insert the smiley face guy and the guy whacking himself on the forehead!)…but then again I can’t speak for the flavors of other asses.
Light Force works great but it costs a lot. www.tqfc.com, look under “supplements” (or “store”, I forget.)
I use one called Greens+ It is a Canadian product. It’s fantastic!
Check it out here!
Jarrow’s “Green Defense” which you can buy at iherb.com. I just started taking it within the last year. I mix it in with 2 meal replacement shakes per day. No digestive problems.
Berry Green by new chapter is the only to take. the others taste nasty.

The best one by far is Vitamineral Green by Healthforce.com. Best price as well when you look at what is in it.

I love Berry Green myself, I switch daily between that and Perfect Food by garden of life
great stuff…
Question on this fellas:
I have heard good things about these products, Greens First specifically. My problem is that being a trainer and semi-nutritionist is that they don’t give a vitamin and mineral content list like a multi-vitamin does. I suspect they are in some cases as good or better than a multi, except that I need it written on the label to prove that it has enough of the more neglected minerals like magnesium, etc. I have a client presently alternating between the Greens First and a multi every other day for this reason. She is also over 50 and at risk for osteroperosis, so I also need to know how much calcium she is getting. Any ideas??
Thanks,

Something you may want to consider if your client is suffering from bone loss, for any reason:
GREEN VIBRANCE!
I have used Greens First for about 15 months now and highly endorse it.

Udo’s Choice Green Blend is by far the best tasting that I have found.
I has over 45 of the finest green foods, essential fatty acids, fiber, whole food concentrates, phytonutrients, antioxidants and digestive enzymes.

I checked out those Vitamin D + Calcium articles and that really helps - thanks! I will see what types of products are available in that combination. In the mean time though I think if she consumed her calcium lactate with a dairy source it will at least partially do the trick. I read that calcium lactate is the most absorbable form - any truth to that? Is this also what the Feds push dairy on Americans so hardcore?
Thanks,
TS
Does the Udo’s Choice Greens have a vitamin/mineral nutritional content label? Meaning, can I make sure I’m getting “X” amount of a micronutrient or does the container just state that it’s like Prego… “it’s in there”?
Thanks,
TS
