Greens Powder Tips & Tricks

You guys really notice a benefit? I didn’t notice anything when I was taking a lot of wheatgrass which is essentially the same thing. I felt pretty damn good before it and pretty damn good while taking it.

I also use raw grass-fed whole milk with protein and greens. The taste isn’t too bad.
Ditto. I get my raw milk from a local educational farm.

As far as noticing a benefit, I can’t say I notice any additional feeling of well being. According to the labeling, it’s a whole day serving of vegetables. I don’t exactly buy that either. I add it to my morning shake to get an additional serving of vegetables and fiber. In that way, it does seem to keep the skids greased.

V8 tastses better than greens+, bloody hell greens+ must taste like dog poo

V8 is horrible I’d rather drink old engine oil

The major reason why JB reccomends Greens+ Itself, is because it has some fairly major studies by the University of Toronto backing it up. (and is probibly the only one to have this).

Garden of Life Perfect Food green supp., which I use and enjoy, is available in a tablet form which is not only more palatable, it’s way more convenient.

And yes Neph, some girls hold their nose if a flavor is distasteful, but most green powders require more than a teaspoon of liquid.

There is a berry flavor Greens + supplement – it has a lot of berry-derived anti-oxidants, but it is worth the slightly higher price simply due to the fact it tastes much better (especially when mixed with either vanilla or strawberry Metabolic Drive).

I think greens powder is possibly the most vile thing I’ve had to ever drink. Sometimes I have a steak or something so I don’t mix it with a protein shake and… DISGUSTING. It never mixes well and is always clumpy, nasty, and tastes like soured fish food.

Anyway here’s my little tip. I buy the 5.5oz cans of V8 juice. Put one of those in your protein shaker, add 3-6 shakes of tabasco or other hot sauce, add greens powder and a couple splashes of water. Shake, and drink.
this is exactly how i make it. except i use 9-11 shakes tabasco. cayenne works good too.

i also put it into protein shakes. but not the full 3 tspns. just 1.

greens plus was so horrible at first i’d thought i’d wasted my money. now, after a month, i’m used to it…even developing an appetite for it.

I’ve been using a product called “Best of Greens”. Dissolves fairly well and tastes like brussel sprouts, which is favorable (to me). No fillers like pectin, or oddball supplements such as royal jelly - just 100% freeze-dried and powdered greens.

Contains: Cereal grasses (Alfalfa juice, Wheatgrass, Barleygrass, Oatgrass) + Cruciferous vegetables (Broccoli, Cabbage, Parsley, Kale) + Algaes (Spirulina & Chlorella) + Sea vegetables (Kelp & Dulse) + Dandelion greens + Three-day old brocolli sprouts

Now I can’t say for sure if “Best of Greens” makes me healthier, but it does seem to aid digestion of protein powders - probably due to enzymatic activity.

Tastes kinda like spearmint. It’s really good, much better than any other greens powder I’ve tried. Sometimes you can get it on Ebay for $25-30, but it’s usually more. But I get it for free because my dad sells it.

Over here we’ve got Aojiru (lit. “green soup”), which looks, smells and tastes like a cup of stale algae mixed with cat piss.

The company that produces it acknowledges its utter foulness, and in fact capitalizes on it. Their commercial features a crotchety old man who drains his glass with an expression of absolute loathing on his face, swallows, shudders, and bellows, “Mazui! Mou ippai!” (“Disgusting! Gimme another!”)

The stores can’t keep it on the shelves. Go figure.

I’ve tried another one too, which is pretty good: Soylent Greens

It tastes like people

i got to wondering about the portions since i’ve been having much greater success w/ 1 spoon than the recommended three so i measured on the scale.

turns out it takes 3 very level tspns. to get the 8.9 gm serving size.

i had been using a heaping tspn which weighed in @ 10g…x3 !!!

the new and improved single serving is much more palatable.

I bought some Perfect Food Greens powder. It tastes like liquid spinach… I don’t see what the big deal is.

Hey guys, I felt bad for all of you with the bad taste stories. I have hesitated in the past with prices for veg powder, but i found some at trader Joes, which is their own brand of veg powder selling for 12 bucks for about 35 servings I think. What I like is to put a tablespoon of veg powder in the blender with 12 oz of a greens beverage or a Naked beverage, and a scoop of peach halves from extra lite syrup. Blend it up and it tastes almost as good as a healthy smoothie from a health food bar

Not sure if I’m the only one but I take greens first and put a tablespoon of flax oil in it. I KNOW flax tastes like ASS and greens taste like ASS so wtf… For some reason I put them together and it was easy to down. And by easy I mean no need for a chaser!
Let me know what ya think…

No idea, you’ll have to ask him. I think it might have to be the ammount of anti-oxidants is very high… And I also remember him saying that one serving of Greens+ is like 6 servings of vegtables.

Hm…I take Greens First and it tastes really good. Like spearmint.

I use the Trader Joe’s stuff as well. I’m not sure how much cheaper it actually is since I think the serving size is a bit smaller, but the stuff does taste fine in a protein shake; it’s not unlike wheat grass.

I usually use the diet V8 drink. 4oz of that and 4oz of water with a scoop of green in a shaker. Shake it like a crack whore lookin’ for a fix, and slam it.
That was hilarious!
