Has anyone else noticed that the Russian fighters like Igor, Fedor, and Alex have an unorthodox punching style? They throw these big looping overhand hooks that make contact with the side of their fist, kind of like a reverse hammer punch.

I’ve noticed that with Igor, and a few times with fedor but they are midgets too

midgets?? Ok Igor is short at 5’9 but Fedor is 6’ -6’1, pretty far from midget.[/quote]

He just doesn’t look that big because he isn’t very cut or lanky.

What’s this nonsense about midgets and whatnot. Let’s get back on topic.

Fedor is a tank in a human uniform. Discuss.

Fedor’s loss to TK is bullshit. The fight took place in Rings, which disallows elbows and yet TK cut Fedor with an elbow. Perhaps the ref didn’t see the elbow, but it was an elbow nonetheless.

As to Fedor’s punching style they’re referred to as long hooks or Russian hooks. They’re commonly taught in Systema and Combat Sambo.

The Randleman fight was crazy. Randleman picked him up like a rag-doll and planted him into the mat. The move had no effect on Fedor whatsoever.

I suspect Fedor is the result of some crazy Commie experiment from the 70’s.

That was sick, and whenever people ask who is Fedor I show them that fight. Kevin had trained with Louie Simmons for several months before that tournament and was squatting over 600 pounds. Thus the Randleplex was born.
