Govt Tracking Your Car

[quote]MartyMonster wrote:

Yeah, that’s certain to happen.

There are a lot of people who don’t seem in any way worried about the prospect of the government nosing ever further into our private affairs. This personally scares the shit out of me. But your complaisance in the face of a clearly encroaching Big Brother scares me a hell of a lot more.

Paranoid much?

Ask James Bulgers parents what they think of CCTV. Ask the vicitims of the Boston Bombing…CCTV nabbed that fuckers arse real quick.

How do you expect Police and Security forces to function if you don’t give them the tools to do their job?

Good question.

Me personally. Yes. I have nothing to fear. Now if my car got stolen this increases the chances I can get it back.

There are a few million Jews, Armenians and Ukrainians who would beg to differ…

Ah, no, they dont.

Lol, yea my brother from Big D.

I try to stay balanced in this regard, we need protection, that is why we have Police, they need the tools to catch people. Where is that line? That is always a moving target.

We need our privacy and if my rights were ever fringed upon I would very much think different. I have a close friend who had those rights crushed, I even started a thread about it a few years ago.

But right now, I still have this “belief” that I live in an area of the country that still takes pride in independence. That still keeps things in balance and when that changes maybe I will have more strong beliefs.

Cortes how are things in Japan? I always thought you kind of lived in a fishbowl.

No, not paranoid.

When police are conducting surveillance, are they looking for innocent people or criminals?

They’re looking for criminals. But you are on that surveillance record. Why? Are you a criminal?

We’re conducting surveillance on criminals and there you are! Now prove that you aren’t.

Turned the presumption of innocence upside down in 3 easy steps.

If you don’t believe that this can happen you need to take a look at that vid series that was circulating for a while on why no one should ever talk to the police.

Hey Derek (^_^)

The thing is, the people we would give those rights to, in exchange for a little so-called security, are not somehow exempted from evil due to location. Texas is one of the last holdouts of the virtues of our founding fathers (and even Texas has fallen VERY far from those original ideals) exactly BECAUSE we have traditionally resisted such encroachments onto our personal freedom and privacy. Every step away from those values is a step toward totalitarianism, and that IS the natural way of things. We happen to be the exception, not by any means the rule, and I want our great state to stay that way for as long as we are able to. Inviting this kind of Statism is no way to do that. No way at all.

Japan is actually far worse, only the culture itself holds such evil in check…for now. This country, however, like nearly every other country in the history of human society, has a very BAD track record regarding the preservation of individual rights and freedoms.

I believe it is always better to be a little too paranoid, than not enough.

But lets face it, nothing lasts forever.

Wrong.

The false identifications were being made by internet idiots with no training. Police had nothing to do with that.

CCTV allowed police to quickly put up images of these guys, thatt got them on the run to begin with.

Furthermore, guys get over it, you do not live in a Fascist dictatorship. Hate to break it to you, but there you go. Just because you are on CCTV footage does not mean the cops think you are guilty and must prove your innocence. Do you honestly think they are that stupid? Give them some credit for Christs sake!
