Also, once I get the catapult technique down with the snatch I will start posting more videos of the clean
ain’t no one to offer expert opinion, so this may be off, but in both vids after you hit the SN from the floor, you attempt a hang SN from below the knee and miss.
What i notice is that in the first SN the bar travels in a nearly straight up and down path. I think an Oly coach would say “good”
In the second hang SN from below the knee, after you clear your knee’s you swing the weight out in front of you and miss cause your arming it. Not a straight path. I think a coach would say “not good”
just what i see.
Look at alexus video of the bar path.
The bar should make a movement in towards your thighs, then you smash your hips in and up WHILST KEEPING THe BAR CLOSE, driving up and you pull yourself under the bar.
-bar goes straight up
-not sitting in
+pretty good finish
-didn’t finish the hang at all and left it out in front, you got to finish,
STAND UPRIGHT ON YOUR TIP TOES, aim for this position when you finish
Keep cracking at it and you will get it. Weights a bit heavy to do from the hang. Do the exercises separately so you can use a more suitable weight.
Post a video of just the bar from the hang for a double/ triple. See how that looks.
Koing
Alright let me just make sure I understand correctly:
-(bar goes straight up) - I need to pull it back into myself harder and definitely finish more explosively pulling it back
-(not sitting in) - I’m still catching it high like a power snatch (just above parallel) and I’m not squatting it down far enough after the catch?
-Stand upright on your tip toes - you’re meaning if you took a snap shot right before I began my decent, correct?
And like I said I got 135 lbs for triples in my workout before this one, all from the hang, so I figured I’d throw those in there but this workout was kind of an improv workout that I wasn’t expecting to get in and all I had was 2 slices of pizza and little time to warm up or get the workout in since the gym was closing. I did hit 145 lbs from the floor which is the highest I’ve gone since I’ve dropped down to work on technique. I filmed that but somethign messed up with it.
One more question: Do most of yall wear compression shorts when snatching? With this last workout I hit my pelvic bone once and sometimes I worry about hittin my junk on the snatches.

Everett says that you don’t need to pull the bar back into yourself. When you pull the bar correctly it will swing back into yourself all by itself. Part of it is about transitioning your weight from the ball of your foot to your heel as you pull. Part of it is about keeping your hips down during the first pull. Part of it is about keeping your upper back tight.

The aim isn’t to catch it and then squat it down (what would the point of that be?) The aim is to squat your ass down under it so you catch it in a deep squat position. If you can’t beat a broomstick or the empty bar things are only going to get worse with weight IMHO.
Yeah I know the aim is to catch it as low as possible with arms extended. That’s kind of what I meant when I typed that but just didn’t word it properly. I need to pull myself under into the full bottom position
