Good Price for a Smith&Wesson?

Price is the limiting factor, I only have $300 to spend on one and I want quality.
For the heck of it I checked one of my local used gun dealers to see what they had in a S&W 357 magnum. They had a Model 28-2 for $375. So I checked Gunbroker.com for that model and they had a few ongoing auctions for around $300 (used) and less.

The picture in my last post is a Security Six. As you can probably tell it is a bit large for a CCW. You should have no problem finding one on gunsamerica.com or gunbroker for about that price.

In my opinion Ruger is the top of the line for revolvers. The blackhawks are legedendary. I have 2 myself. I got a GP-100 .357 and a Vaquero 45LC. Here is the Vaquero, but they are expensive.
slight hijack:

Rugers single actions are sweet!

My father has a convertible Blackhawk, it allows you to switch cylinders from .45LC to .45ACP.

Shooting .45ACP is good fun. Very accurate.

BTW whats a good 6 shot model to look for?

What are you going to use it for? I have always liked the S&W Bodyguard for use as a pocket/concealed weapon.
That’s a fine firearm.

I personally think buying S&W is buying a name but i will say that they ave very quality guns. S&W is not the only company that makes nice pistols though. Ruger is ledgendary for the quality of their revolvers and Taurus is really catching on as well.

Check out the Ruger Blackhawks and Redhawks some time. They are top of the line. Those 2 Ruger models are very expensive though.

I always advise people to get the security six because of the quality and avablity of them. If i didn’t have the GP-100 already i would buy a Six for myself.
I’ve never owned a S&W but they are good guns. I have a Security Six with a six inch barrel and it’s the most accurate handgun I own. Still like my Glocks though. And Geminspector, there is nothing sexier than a hot chick who’s into guns.

Damn right hot chicks who shoot guns are cool.

Thanks for checkin on that tool.

How exactly do you purchase a gun off that site? How much do you think a local gun dealer charges for getting a gun off that site? Im sure they dont ship to your doorstep.

The vendor will ship it to a federally licensed firearm dealer (FFL) in your state. Your local FFL will complete the transfer paperwork and you can take delivery there. Gunbroker maintains a list of FFLs.

FFLs charge what they like, but the cost is usually around $20.

Did someone say Security Six? Speed Six?
