Good News for the Good Guys!

Alexander you are precious:

In response to my North Vietnam was communist you responded:

“no they weren’t. They had no interest in economic systems. It is true that they turned to the USSR for help, but it was not because of shared ideology.”

You heard it here: Alexander said North Vietnam was not communist!!!

I love it!!!

This should clear it up:

Alexander, if you don’t read this link you are a “bad” person.

“I try to avoid determining calling one side “the good guys” and the other “the bad guys”. It is an oversimplification, in which you inevitably commit a fundemental attribition error. I suspect a person would have to be borderline retarded to think in terms of “good guys” and “bad guys”.”

Have you met my friend POX. He’s a nice person.

"Per Alexander: “It wasn’t fair that the North Vietnamese didn’t get aid.”

“When you use quotation marks, it is important to quote verbatim, or make it entirely obvious you are not. making stuff up, and putting it around quotes makes you look disingenuous”

Here is the entire paragraph:

Alexander wrote:

“Maybe the anti-war crowd thought that since the military government the US helped overthrow the south(even if it was unintentional, which is uncertain) was receiving help in what was essentially a civil war, it was only fair to provide humanitarian aid to the other side?”

A little wordy for me.

However, I won’t hold my breath for the apology on the “making things up” comment.

“But you know what, this might all be a little to complicated for you. Go right ahead and dumb it down as far as you need in order for it to make sense to you.”

If socialism/communism is “intelligent,” I’ll stay ignorant. My way is about 200 million people less bloody.

Thanks!!!

I see you took me up on that “dumb it down” suggestion. Well, I’m glad you are willing to do whatever it takes to make sense of the world.

not to jump into these waters but didn’t Ho Chi Minh approach the US for aid and get refused, at which point he essentially fell into the lap of The Evil Empire?

Ho Chi Minh started his political career as a Constitutional scholar and great admirer of the American governmental template. He tried to enlist American aid to overthrow French colonial rule in Vietnam, and later to unify the country, but was turned down on all occasions. This prompted an ideological conversion to communism and the founding of the Vietnamese Communist Party - yet another example of the United States creating its own demons through irresponsible meddling in foreign affairs (first supplying aid to the colonial French, then propping up the illegitimate Diem dictatorship in South Vietnam).

Little Al,

That’s terrific!!!

I know you mean it as an insult. However, I thought it was hilarious.

It’s my new screen saver!!!

Define show and go. Are you referring to the gym? Are you referring to economic impact? what is it you are referring to?

Because you keep coming into my political threads and puking on the floor. Once is excusable - but you have made it a habit. My comments are not directed at your ‘personal life’ - you made it quite public when you bragged ad nauseum about how important your life as a grad student is. If it is so fucking important - then go be important - but you made it public - I did not attack anything private

I guess if you are sensitive about immasculative insults - then you would be the one with masculinity issues. I don’t like you. Period. Honestly, I could give a shit how small your penis is - if you have one.

I don’t derive any self worth out of My credentials. You do. You’ve said so many many times on other threads.

I’ll give it a rest when you either a) learn that you are a stupid kid, and act like it. or b) you find another forum besides mine to post in. Look on the left side of your computer screen - there are many forums for you to go run hog-wild in. Why must you breath my air in the politcal forum?

[quote]JeffR wrote:

It was intended as a joke, so I suppose that we have found common ground for once.

Although, I doubt that we are laughing at the same things…

P.S. I don’t get insulted over manipulation on a grand scale. I aspire to create it.

Looks like Al wants to be a politician?

. o O (Just so I am fair and balanced, unlike a media outlet to remain unnamed, I’ll use a pair of examples)

Okay Al, first go out there and start having sex and lying about it, then drink, smoke crack and suddenly find god later in your life, you’ll have a shot then, as long as mommy and daddy are rich.

. o O (Hey, most candidates are rich, its not an anti-Bush knock)

Suppose you saw a guy sitting with his head wedged up his ass, wouldn’t you feel sorry for him, and give him some anal-eze, so he might have a chance to pull it out? You are that guy, Rainjack. Unfortunately, you are misusing the lube, and rather than pulling yourself free from the gaping abyss of ignorance that is your ass, you have used the lubricious condition you find yourself in to futher force your head into your rectal cavity.

I suppose it’s like they say: you can give the MBA lube, but you can’t make him pull his head out of is ass.

You’ll find this was true of many soviet outposts, most notably Cuba (think of how close the world came to ending as a result of this one).

You have called me ignorant on numerous occasions, yet you have never actually explained what it is that ignorant about me.

Please - detail my ‘ignorance’. I would love to know what is ignorant about me. Am I ignorant because I’m not a Canadian grad student? Am I ignorant because I am a successful white male? Am I ignorant because I don’t like you?

Do tell Ally - why am I ignorant?

You are ignorant because you only accept one viewpoint as plausible, and dismiss all others as stupid and not worth considering. As a result, you are full of unjustifiable positions. I suspect deep-down you know this, and rather than trying to argue about issues and facts, you make nothing but crude personal remarks.

I suspect you are ignorant because, in this very thread, you respond to points I make by saying you don’t like me, and calling me an idiot. Guess what? no one cares.

You show me a man who does not reconsider his position every single time he hears an opposing aguement, and I will show you a dumb ass. And from what I’ve seen so far, you approach every situation as if you could not possible be wrong; your dismissive tone betrays you.

The fact that you have next to no education doesn’t sway me towards thinking you are ignorant, although it certainly does very little to help change my mind.

No vroom you are much more like a national network than any cable network I know of. You want to be perceived as fair and balanced, but we all know which way your see-saw leans.

Give me an unjustifiable position that I hold. You use generalities and opinions to prove my ignorance. No fact. I’ve asked you to prove my ignorance - not opine on it. There is a difference - but I can certainly see where - void of fact, you must resort to you own unjustifiable opinion.

No - in fact (something that would be nice to see you use) I was answering a question - posed by you no less - when I said I didn’t like you. The only point I was making then was the one I made.

My, my, my - you assume quite a bit for a kid, don’t you? Do you know for a fact that I don’t consider other viewpoints? Or, could it be that you are making assumptions because I never question my position in a public forum? Me thinks it’s the latter.

The fact that you place so much value in your schooling proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are an ignorant, idealistic, never had a job, kid. You mistake me wanting proof of my ignorance as caring about what you think. Oncew again - you couldn’t be more wrong.

So you are calling yourself ignorant as well? Based on the criteria you have laid out - we could go point by point and show where you are a living, breathing poster-boy for the ignorantly insane.

Do we want to do that? Or are you willing to admit your ignorance right now?

You my friend, go even further than what you outline as the definition of ignorance - you speak from the position of inexperience. Whether it be training, politics, economics - you name it, you have only either read about it, or studied it in a class.

To think that you can even approach significance because you recieve a grade for a living is the nail in your coffin of ignorance.

Now THAT was fucking funny.

Read through the last couple of pages, and take a look at the contribution of your posts.

If you want to pick a fight, leave me out of it. I am sincerely not interested in playing this game again. After all, even if I counter every word you say, you’ll just shut up for a while, and pick it up again in a new thread.

And tme pokes his little head out. Where ya been?

I think you should make some noise every once in a while. No fair sneakin up behind folks like that.

Rain,

Your last post to Alexander was classic.

You are working way too hard on this guy.

Just remember this is the guy who stated TODAY that North Vietnam wasn’t communist. Oh, he also advocates Communism as a practical approach in TWO THOUSAND AND FIVE!!! He asks one to define communism. When that is accomplished he “trumps it” with my Dad is the only one who knows what real communism is because he’s met important communists. He can’t decide how many million people communism has killed in the twentieth century. He does know that whatever evidence you produce is obviously false. Why? Because he says so.

I actually find him quite amusing (in a kick the dork in the corner way).
