You’re probably the most jacked frisbee player ever dawg, so you win anyways
No I am.
But he’s a close second ;D
Seriously though, good attitude about the game Mister.
Funny you both mention that, I can jump halfway well for my height, so I end up going high for a lot of discs when I play, both on defense and offense. I used to get jostled a lot in those plays, because people would sort of jump into me trying to make the play. I noticed last night on multiple occasions that on those same jumps, no one jumps anywhere near me now.
Either they’re afraid to run into me, or I really should bathe more often.
And hey, if I don’t keep a good attitude about the game, then it loses all its fun. Once the fun is gone, then what’s the point? I want to enjoy what I’m doing.

Some accessory stuff…
DONE.
Quick and dirty today. It’s been a long week with school and everything, and I didn’t get a chance to eat midmorning because of some lab related stuff, so I am definitely in a calorie deficit for the day. Weighed in at 206 post squattin’, so somehow my bodyweight continues to fall despite me not really trying to cut. Still looking sexy though, so if my strength keeps going up, I’m just going to keep at it and let my weight fall where it may.
Been watching The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It’s fucking awesome. Check it out if you like cartoons and stuff.
Time crunch today. Got a 10 pg paper to start before I take the lady to the Grizzlies game for her birthday (yeah, she’s that awesome), so I only hit the good stuff and got out.
RE Lower
Squat
Warm up, then
235(65%)x 40 reps (10,10,8,7,5)
Rack Pull (mid shin)

315x3
365x3 <— Definitely a PR at this bodyweight (207ish lbs)
DONE.
I’d get excited for frisbee this week, but with all the rain we got coming in, I’d be surprised if we have a game at all. Ah well.

Eww 10 pages? Isn’t your semester over soon?
Nah, this current one goes till June before I get a 2 week break and resume with new classes until October. This is the toughest part of school, mentally at least, because you’re so close you can almost taste it, but they just keep piling it on. Just a few more months and its all clinic time.
After a late night of celebrating both the Grizzlies win and my lady’s birthday, I dragged my ass into the gym during my break and got to work. Here’s what I managed:
ME Bench
Tremendous Three (Hypers, Chins, Dips)
3x10 only BW
Bench
135x5
155x5
175x3
195x3
215x3
235x3 <— Strong reps, but wasn’t gonna get 255x3, so using this as my 3RM till next ME day
Deadstop DB Rows, 1s pause in contracted position
85x4x8
Dips (my tri’s are weak)
BWx30 reps
Partial Laterals
45x25
55x25
Pec Deck
Failure ← shoulder no like
Straight Bar Pushdowns
4x10, 10s rest between sets
DONE.
Using that 3RM, my calculations put my possible 1RM at 258 lbs for the next DE and RE day. Just to be safe this time, and ensure my success on the next bench day, I’m going to drop that to 255 lbs. This way I use slightly lighter percentages, and perhaps I can recover a bit better. By the time my next ME day rolls in, it will be for a 1RM Bench, so I’ll get to prove myself then.
Definitely going to hit up a Metabolic day tomorrow. Feeling a little sluggish, and I could probably use the extra work. Now I’m going to go make a massive pile of nachos and watch Spartacus: Blood and Sand season 2 until my lab starts at 3.
At least you only have a couple more months. This is my last week but still have years ahead at university.
Yum nachos!
I don’t know how you get to the gym at the weirdest of events. Sports and girl’s birthday and still went to the gym?
You are the definition of dedication.
Nikki- It’s honestly all those years I spent having dedicated practice time for track and cross country. I have to have some sort of athletic release during the day or else I just get irritable. As for dedicated, that means a lot coming from you, you’re quite the dedicated individual yourself!
4/27/11
Needed some metabolic work. Here’s what I did:
8 Rounds as fast as possible of the following:
Push Press x 5 reps (60% of 1RM = 120 lbs)
Neutral Grip Pullup x 5 reps
Jump Squat x 5 reps.
Finished in a little over 15 minutes.
The jump squats took a lot out of me, and seeing as how I’ve got DE stuff to do tomorrow, I figured I’d cut them to 5 rather than 10 to save my legs a little bit. I feel like I accomplished exactly what I wanted to with this workout. Got a good sweat going, worked my ass off, and then got out quick. It was nice working quick like this after I was up late working on my paper last night.
Time to chow down and then head back up to school for labs.
Speed Squat (descend controlled, explode out of the hole)
175(50%)x12x2
Band Resisted DB Swings <–shit these were hard
45+mini band x7x2
GHR
3x8
Weighted Crunches
3x10
DONE.
Wanted to keep all my work explosive today. I’m feeling pretty worn out, and I figured adding in more CNS intensive work today might not be the best choice. I want to get a solid RE Bench in tomorrow, and hopefully be able to get in some DB military pressing as well if the shoulder agrees. Looking forward to the weekend for sure.
In the meantime, my favorite pizza place in town just started making my favorite pizza ever: THE BACON CHEESEBURGER PIZZA. Chow time tonight? Oh hell yes.
50 reps (will get 50 more scattered throughout today)
Face Pulls
85x10
115x10
135x10
DONE.
Pretty good sesh, but I can tell I haven’t been sleeping for shit all week. I need to get that straightened out pronto. Got lucky and my Pediatrics teacher cancelled our 2 hour afternoon class, so I got my gym on, took care of some stuff, and now I’m about to go to the pool.
Ran about 4.5 miles on the trails this morning. Had to work through some personal stuff, and thats about how long it took for me to finally work it out in my head. I only hope I can find the words to figure everything out.
Still not sleeping well. And I probably won’t until I get my shit together. Oh well, can’t truly enjoy the highs of life without working through the lows too, right?
Ok, so I was going to train today, but Mother Nature seems to have more up her sleeve than usual. The Mississippi is fixing to flood Memphis, and seeing as how I live on the banks (Mud Island), I’m having to take some preliminary action to make sure I don’t get stuck.
My apt shouldn’t have any issues specifically, but the ends where the roads off the island might. Being stuck here and waiting to see if the river floods me is not my idea of fun, so I’m moving my electronics, notes, and a few days worth of clothes home to my parents house on the other side of town. Hopefully nothing will happen, but I’d rather be safe than end up needing a helivac out.
And I don’t want to be looted, which is an unfortunate possiblity in this city if everything goes to shit, so I’m taking what I have of worth with me. If I time it right, I should be able to go work out at my old gym with my pops this afternoon. I’m thinking some Strongman Sunday action is in order. I’ll report back later if I make it happen.
Got it done quick today. Was in the gym my parents have membership to because of the flood move out, so I had access to the battle ropes, which was cool. Hopefully I’ll sleep well tonight and wake up ready to kick ass tomorrow.
Warmup, then
215x3
255x2
285x2
315x2
335x1.5 <—lost it forward out of the hole
DB SLDL
65x3x8
GHR
1xmax
DONE.
Today was just not my day. I knew when I wasn’t amped up or pissed off about missing the 335 double that it was time to GTFO. I need to get my mind right before I step in the gym tomorrow, or else I’m going to end up spinning my wheels here.
Going to get in a huge pizza dinner tonight though. Gotta stay excited about the little things, right?
Got in the gym thinking it was supposed to be ME Bench for a 1RM today. Didn’t have a spotter available, (2 little old ladies in the gym, no chance), so I made it a bench accessory day. Got in some good work but nothing big to report.
Found out later when I checked my log book that it was supposed to be DE Bench. FML.
I did manage to get a DB Bench of 90x10, which is a PR for this BW and for the post shoulder injury. Not a bad deal.
trav123456 wrote:
Wow a flood eh? Hope that turns out okay! Strongman stuff sounds cool!
Thanks man. Old Man River won’t crest until next Weds supposedly (they don’t know), and its flooding the back side of the island right now (3 ft lower than expected crest)… I wasn’t worried initially, but I’m considerably more concerned now. I’m going to go check it out tomorrow after I get done with my tests and training to assess my apt risk and see if I need to move any more stuff.
Here’s how everything broke down today though, quick and nasty:
5/5/11
Squats
Warmup, then work up to
265x4x5
GHR
2x10
Leg Press
Up to 3x10 at some number of pps. Not sure.
DONE.
Got in, worked my ass off and stomped the weights. Now I have a shitload of studying to do for tomorrow. Work never ends.
Kept it light, felt explosive, and was in the zone the whole workout. Not bad for a shit night’s sleep and early rise to study more. Passed the test and practical with good grades though, so I’m super stoked. Been chillin by the pool, so I’m all tan and sexy. Time to shower and head out to get more shit done.
