Was the blood test fasted @simbosis?
Yes…it was fasted
I will take them first thing in the morning. Thanks!
I am just glad there are so many guys here with experience and willing to help. I just need to get better. I will try just about anything at this point.
Well…it’s definitely not alcoholism…don’t know anything other then that not being it…
With possibly needing a lot of testosterone (150 to 200 a week) what would my dosing schedule look like? ED? EOD? E3rdD?
From tha Mayo Clinic:
fasting blood sugar level less than 100 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) is normal. A fasting blood sugar level from 100 to 125 mg/dL (5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L) is considered prediabetes. If it’s 126 mg/dL (7 mmol/L) or higher on two separate tests, you have diabetes.
Good to know. Trt helps with insulin right?
Yes. I wonder if you were diabetic before you lost the weight? Were you monitoring blood via yearly physicals?
No. No I wasnt
You weren’t diabetic or you weren’t monitoring?
@NH_Watts Yea…that wasnt clear at all was it? I meant I was not monitoring.
Well TRT should help your insulin sensitivity.
" Low serum testosterone levels are associated with an adverse metabolic profile which may be explained by the observation that low testosterone levels and impaired mitochondrial function promote insulin resistance in men (48). And indeed, in an experimental study, stimulation of endogenous testosterone was shown to increase insulin sensitivity within 48 h (49).
It seems like trt is the only thing that will get me sorted out. Very glad I revisited the idea after four years ago being told it was all in my head.

Ok, just got done with my doctor consultation. He said that I will need a higher dose to start and has me prescribed @ 180 mg a week and to split into twice weekly injections. He is also prescribing HCG at 1000 units a week split into two doses along with the test cyp. He also want me to have one prescription for the a1 blocker but to never use it unless I get really bad symptoms and need to. It’s a low dose a1 but he doesn’t think I will need it nor does he believe I will ever have to donate blood. I feel listened to and taken care of. I am very happy to be at this point.
Good deal. I would personally probably skip the HCG in the beginning and see how you feel first. Seems to make some people feel worse and some feel better. Worse seems to be more common
Glad to hear he isn’t pro AI
Dosage wise that’s probably not crazy. I started at 150mg with shbg higher than yours. That actually worked for me but it took a full 7 weeks to get there
I was also directed to do 2 injections per week. I tried Daily subQ at first but did not feel like I was getting anything out of it. Switched to 3x a week shallow IM (delt with 1/2” insulin needle) and started seeing results. I know a lot of people here preach daily but I’d start with 2-3x a week and stick with it for a while
In three to five days I will start my recovery. He also advised me on supplements and as @NH_Watts said, sublingual b vitamins were at the top of his list. He said that he has no preference and that sub q or IM injections are fine, he just advised that subQ could have a chance to irritate my skin and to rub it in and make sure it flattened out. He explained all my symptoms to me and why they are happening. He even said he would be more then happy to talk to my wife about any concerns and to explain my symptoms and to help her take them seriously and that I am not crazy or a bad husband. We shall see about that one… you guys are the best! I will keep you posted.
I was debating that as well…might go eod…thanks for the advice. Glad to here it worked for you with high sex hormone binding as well…he said that he doesn’t care about total t and only cares about free t and doesn’t want me to ever dip below a 20 and that higher is better.
Was this At a private clinic or did you just win the doctor lottery?
My doctor said she couldn’t help me and knew nothing about it…sent me to an endo that ignored me and said to take anti depressants and to lift weights and was too young to be thinking about trt. Tried another urologist but he wanted to go very slowly and run tests for six months and then maybe prescribe 140 mg every two weeks. I walked out. . One of the guys turned me onto defy medical. They have been awesome in there treatment and understanding and helping me get to this point. I can not believe how awesome they have been. I feel like they are very good at what they do compared to how I have been treated so far. The price seems more then fair for what I am getting… my life back!
