just go dude. Do it for the story.
How long are you gonan be gone for? IMO your biggest risk is depending how many people it spreads to etc that they could shut down the boarders. So you would be stuck there. Since there is already talk of it if you go you should at least consider that you might be stuck there.
Honestly I wouldn’t be worried, but it depends where you go. I’m Mexican, raised in TJ and Ensenada, with all of my family living in Baja or the Mexico City area.
A lot of my relatives are doctors, and honestly, as long as you take simple precautions, you should be fine with regards to swine flu (I wouldn’t recommend going to el DF though; like others said, that’s where it started and because of it, the city is basically shut down so you’d just be twiddling your thumbs while there).
I’m guessing you’re going to a spring break spot though (Cabos, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, etc), in which case I’d go anyways. The only beach spot that’s really affected by the Cartels is TJ, but the city’s been a shithole for years anyways… the rest of the vacation spots are anglicized to the point that you don’t have to speak a word of Spanish the whole time you’re there.
Plus with the recession hitting Mexico worse due to the narco scare, everything is gonna be way cheaper. I’d go and have fun, and as long as you don’t do anything dumb, you should be fine (same as if you were going to most other countries).

honestly man, you guys could spend your money on another trip that doesn’t have to deal with all this crap.
then again, if i was going to travel to mexico, i’d only go if you were going, brock[/quote]
It’s a date. Just bring women.

You want me to go so I can share all my crazy adventures with you. I can understand how you think that I’m the coolest cat around. ![]()
As of right now, the trip is still happening. We’re gonna be around baja/rosarita and for teh 5th/6th mainly. The rest of the trip will be sailing since it takes around 22hrs to get there.
Glad to hear there some other crazy people like me in Mexico already.
I have some medical masks packed, for the hell of it. I might draw on some or write “Don’t worry it’s not the swine flu, it’s SARS” on them to mess with people.
Alright man, I’ve been thinking about this all night (no life) and I just want you to know as a fellow Massachusettsan (Massachusettsite … Mass resident) that you should go. Just make sure you bring your painters mask. You’ll have a funny tan line on your face but it’s the new watch tan line so it’s cool. Enjoy, brutha, home you bring back home some new and exotic form of the clap! Say hello to Molly the DOnkey for me. Oh what a show.

Dude stick to Papas in Rosarito, dont fall for the open bar places, the drinks are basically water and the places are usually empty. Go to Ensenada if you get the chance too (I think the Regata is around this time of the year) and check out Hussongs (inventor of the Margarita).
As long as you don’t get coughed on by a farm worker who got the virus through food/air contamination from a fly that got the virus from a pig you will be fine.
Cerealy, what are the chances?

Sure thing man,I’ll check in the whore stores for that clap you wanted.
A donkey show would be something “interesting” to experience lol…

B rock, dont take what i said too seriously, i would probably still go myself to mexico. but i would have all that stuff floatin around in my mind at the same time.

no worries man, we’re still going.
there are more cases in southern cali then in baja mexico; which is right near where we are going.
time to party on Cinco w/ mexicans!
They closed all restaraunts, bars and clubs in Mazatlan, MX until May 6th…
Our tourney in San Luis Potosi just got cancelled, and the next 2 tourneys in Merida and Cancun were cancelled last night…
Not looking good…and I’m hearing rumours that they are thinking about closing the borders.
Just thought I’d pass the info along…good luck if you still go.
Have you been to Mexico before?? just curious, cause I would never come here unless I absolutely had to…

haha dude no one in Mexico celebrates Cinco de Mayo (except for tourists); it’s an artificial holiday. It should still be fun though.
Come, its safe in most parts. Just be careful where you eat. Stay away from whores and nice SUVS and you should be fine.
i’ve been to mexico before; but usually with big groups.
i did hear that a bunch of shit has been shut down. we’ll have to figure what the status of things are where we are going.
if not, i’m fine with tooling around los angeles for a week. i can play “real or fake”

I’d opt for the LA thing. Just in case the borders do shut down. I wouldn’t want to be stuck there for an undetermined length of time.
hijack:
Doesn’t it seem weird that this ‘swine flu’ appeared right when the government said it was going to do something about the gun running into mexico? Maybe coincidence…
ok sorry…/hijack

There are more REPORTED cases here in So Cal than in Baja. I wonder why that is?
You are out of your mind if you go down there right now. stay in LA.

…because there’s more cases in SoCal? Raise your hand if you actually live in Baja raises hand. There’s no epidemic there, at this point I’m more likely to catch in in LA or here in Barcelona than in Rosarito or Ensenada… plus didn’t the guy say he’s gonna spend most of the time sailing?

Because your corrupt government can’t pick up trash off the streets, much less regulate public safety or actually accurately diagnose and identify victims of a flu pandemic.
And believe me, the swine flu is the least of the reasons why he shouldn’t visit Mexico right now.
