Going Camping

I’m going camping this weekend for a couple of days and I’m wondering what food I can take to minimize the loss. My problem is that we won’t have access to a fridge. So, taking meat/dairy and other perishables is not an option.

I’m hoping to survive on:

  • nuts: almonds, peanuts etc
  • grilled veggies (we’ll have a fire)
  • protein shakes (few)
  • fruits
  • peanut butter

Thanks for any info.

I think that you might struggle to reach your protein requirements with that list. Any chance you could take a few cans of fish… salmon, tuna and sardines for example would be great.

Alternatively, why not live the old fashioned T lifestyle. Whilst your camping, get out into the countryside, sharpen your spear and hunt. Fresh meat on an open cooked fire… you just can’t beat that!

Two words: beef jerkey

Take tuna and eggs. Yes, eggs. You don’t need a refrigerator for eggs.

Hey,

I would most definitely recommend my favorites:

Trail Snacks:
-sardines
-jerkey
-almonds
-dried fruit

Dinner:
-Chili
-Vegetables

While you’re out there, just have fun and dont worry excessively about your protein requirements, unless of course you’re doing a distamce hike, then we’re talking a whole different strategy. Otherwise, have fun and try to be creative with the afforementioned:)
