Stupidly decided to try a belt at this weight. Should have got use to it at a lower weight. Tossed it. [/quote]
Mr. Hel, with all due respect to all the other awesome lifters in this forum (especially the redoubtable Mr. Meat), you are a force of nature, not meant to be encumbered by piddly human accoutrements like belts, wraps, etc.
People around you are damn lucky you’re a nice guy.
And yes, I’m still scared from the power you displayed in that 345 clean!
Thanks all, I appreciated all the support and it really means a lot to me. Punnyguy, don’t call me Mr., my parents were married (old GI joke). Actually just lol Wilson. “why, I knew him when he was just a…”. Like I told Steve up higher, I don’t think the squats would be legal in a contest but with my hands way out I can at least do them.
Only worked 8 hours today for the first time in a long time. Took a no lunch so it was actually 8 hours and went straight to gym fueled 100% by 24oz of gas station coffee.

Pete, we only let them do the cookin indoors. Make them wear skimmpy little outfits at the stove. Smell of cookin meat and sight of a near nekked woman beats the hell outta viagree anytime. Had brussel sprouts with the meal lats night, too, Wilson.
Warmed up here a lot and the rains back. Tomorrow’s MLK day so federal holiday. Gonna throw something, don’t care what.
The online sign up for 6 Mar meet has been fixed. Smart asses are everywhere. The open division now reads “maximum age” at 108. Just got notified that the Alabama Senior Olympics is tentatively scheduled for 2 May. That’s 4 T&F meets lined up so far. Pretty much have made up my mind to give up practicing the T&F hammer. Don’t have the time needed to dedicate to it.
Started to lift me some weights tonight but…
It’s January and I delivered mail in my shirt sleeves today. 65 degrees with this little cold front movin in. So, it’s 1730 and the wife and I get to the gym. Set up to do some cleans and I see a group around one of the TVs at the gym. Tornado coming over Chapman Mountain. Where’s our gym? Bottom of Chapman mountain. Now, the group of weight lifting rocket scientists all head to the nice, big, plate glass windows at the front of the gym to look for the tornado, in the dark. “You dumbasses, get away from the windows”, the gym owner beat me to it.
Anyway, very anti-climatic. Funnel never fully developed, lot of wind, some hail, not much damage. Wife’s cell phone starts going off and the “just checkin up on yawl” phone calls start. End of work out, home to dinner. Wasted night. Back at it tomorrow night.
Hah, two times I can think of I have been training at the local gym in the past 5 years when a tornado swept through. Each time the power went out, the most recently I was prone on the bench with 405 in my hands. Fortunately it is in the basement in probably the most secure part of the joint.
