God I Hate Computers Sometimes

So I picked up a virus, first one in probably ever. Do everything that should be required to get rid of it, 3 different anti virus programs, booted in safe, etc. So after none of that works I just say fuck it and go to reformat using alienrespawn, which is supposed to have a hidden partition in the HD and go back to factory settings. Well that doesn’t work, so I try to boot from a usbstick and install windows 7. Doesn’t work, the attempted recovery has left the hard drive corrupted as hell, and won’t even let the BIOS boot the CD drive to recover what is needed.

So I’m trying different cd drives and placement of the harddrive on the sata chain and what happens? The fucking plastic piece that holds the cable in place snaps. Now not only is the hard drive corrupted but its broken. At least now I can go get a SSD to use tomorrow.

fml…

edit: oh and I’ve been working on this for the past 7 straight hours.

I’m impressed that you can still log on and type on T-Nation with a fried hard drive.

Did you get your data off off it before it snapped? That sucks though. Viruses can be hell sometimes.

have you tried hitting it?

I find it hilarious that you went and found another computer/smartphone just to post this thread.

I have a laptop I use for school and at work that I’ve been on trying to find a solution to the bootmgr issue and it not reading my cd drives.

and I got about 1/5 of my ebook collection, no videos, no programs, nothing besides one folder.

My Western Digital Velociraptor has been giving me trouble, I think it has a problem because my files have been getting corrupted to the point where I can’t use many of my programs.

Bought an 80gb SSD to replace it, now it’s top spec!

i had a virus once. i ran the antivirus a few times in safe mode and it did not help. and then i clicked to install updates and ran the scan again and fixed it.

Penicilin.

Some tips
A. Make multiple accounts
B. Back your stuff up
C. Always have an antivirus program and UPDATE IT
D. Use a firewall
E. Look online for fixes on your specific virus

i TOLD YOU BOUT THEM DIRTY GIRLS.

You can save the hard drive by taking a very large magnet and swiping it across. It doesn’t matter which way you swipe it, as long as it’s in one direction only.
